5 SIMPLE SKIN CARE HACKS- To Increase Product Power
After my laser procedures I guide patients how to maximize their gains with active skin care, hence these educational videos. Skin is as unique as you are- so there is not standard active skin care range or skin care routine that I endorse nor prescribe. My laser team will discuss with you what and when to start skin care actives.
If you are after an anti-ageing skin care program I normally would perform either Fractional Co2 and Fraxel or an erbium modulated CO2 laser, followed by the ABCs of skin care. Timing is extremely important to reduce skin irritation following laser procedures. I normally start off with a retinoid, such as Retinol 1.0 then graduate to prescription retinoid acid, before adding B and C products. SPF of choice is a physical sunscreen to reduce irritation following a laser procedure.
If I am treating your for acne scarring, the use of Vitamin A and SPF is beneficial for both better outcomes and recovery- this includes treatments with RF, microneedling, fractional lasers and even TCA peels. There are small uncontrolled studies to suggest topical vitamin A can enhance scar revision- and besides, topical vitamin A can unclog pores, decrease oil production and reduce acne.
If I am treating melasma and other forms of pigmentation, this video is super important. This can teach you to maximize your HQ use, vitamin A and Meladerm, or Melarase usage. My laser of choice is usually the Pico or Nano Revlite- C6 or the Clear and Brilliant Fraxel laser.
For patients with rosacea and sensitive skin, this video is also useful, however you must slowly titrate the methods I have shown you. Your skin is extra sensitive and there is a fine line with Vitamin B and to a limited extent vitamin A and C. For acne prone skin, the use of AHAs combined with vitamin A creams, retinol, and retinoic acid can give a helping hand to reduce acne, zits, pimples, blackheads and whiteheads.
Thanks for watching this video on 5 skin care hacks to make your actives work harder for you. All videos are unsponsored and I tell it like it is. Subscribe and turn your notification on as I produce one new educational video every Saturday morning, Brisbane Australia time.
Dr Davin Lim, Laser and aesthetic dermatologist. Brisbane. Australia.

How can someone as knowledgeable and professional as you are only getting 200k+ subscribers? Whereas those self claimed MUAs are out there promoting heavy makeup, unrealistic daily routine and getting over a million. What a crazy world!

Like Forrest Gump once said, "Stupid is as stupid does." I agree, so many shysters out there making a buck of good innocent people who are desperate to have their skin look much better. I stopped believing in those TV infomercial thieves many years ago when I was still in my teens.

Ikr. Everyone everywhere tells me to stay away from physical scrubbing. I guess as long as you're being very gentle and not scrubbing on dry skin, it's fine.

    • @giginoelani5880
      @giginoelani5880 3 года назад +2

@@srishti5711 Its just that most scrubs sold in stores have huge particles that are really harsh like st. ives scrub. A gentle scrub with the clarisonic (soft brushes), washcloth, or even a powder scrub (good molecules pineapple exfoliating powder) are a lot more gentle. I like to physically exfoliate 1-2 times a week, with gentle chemical exfoliation 4-5 times a week.

Hi Dr. Lim...I have been binge watching your videos and I am in love...with them. I enjoy your simplistic approach to skin care. So, I really don't need 17 different products after all. I do have a question...what do you think of using estrogen with Retin-A? I recently switched dermatologists, and the girls (okay...ladies) were talking about estrogen to use with the Retin-A. Do you have any thoughts on this? What does it do? Do you think it is worth adding to a skincare regime? Thanks for your opinion and thoughts.

I don’t know if I know the difference in a bland moisturizer. Hmm. I have another question I hope it’s ok to ask. I’ve been meaning to ask you. I apply Eva naturals Retinol 2.5%, Eva naturals niacinamide 8.3% Serum and trusting vita c 20% with E and HA. I apply all these every night and sometimes morning. I have not had any issues. Yes it seems to be working. But now I’m seeing all over the internet that you can’t apply any of the three at the same time. I do apply moisture after about 30 minutes. Sometimes I hyperhydrate. Oh and I apply Retinol first after shower or washing my face. My face seems to soak it up. Thank you for helping me so much. I have incorporated most of your dry skin suggestions including olive oil in the bath.

This may be an older video, but I just found it...man I really don't think half these people paid attention to what you were even saying....I have been on vit c and retin a for several years...I now have been making sure my face is damp when I use my vit C in the morning and my retin A at night. I exfoliate mildly every morning. Then a couple nights a week when I am skipping my retin a night I will do a deep exfoliating...I am tolerating it great and I am getting better results now..thanks so much for explaining...just wish more people would have listened to you...

Thanks for a great channel and superb information! I have been trying to find out for a while now how long it takes for active ingredients to penetrate the skin/be efficient, how long before can wash your skin again without ruining the effect of say for example vitamin A. It would be so great if you would talk about this some time. Thanks again!

Now I’m worried I’m doing something wrong 🤨 I use my Clarisonic every night then a mild AHA serum, then a retinol serum (my doc won’t give me a script for real Vit A😡) then Vit C. I let them dry into my skin then apply a moisturiser. My skin looks really great; the best it’s looked in ages, but it’s slightly dry and that’s not like my skin. I have normal skin, slightly oily t-zone. Am I using too much of something or using them in the wrong order? Thank you very much for your tips - it’s your vlogs that are making me better at skin care. 💕

Thank you so much for you super informative videos!! They are worth more than any visit to the doctor I made in the last few years.
Is there any possibility that you would make a short video or post about perioral dermatitis? What to do and how to treat it? Many of the patients that suffer of pod wouldn’t find a way to get rid of it
    Thank you!!

Hi Dr.! Great video as always! Super helpful as I always wondered how to get the most of my Vit.C serum, thank you! Also I will try the Hydrofacial...was thinking about that for a while, and you clear my doubts! (seems this video was customized for me...LOL!) Not that I will do it every month at all but wondering how many times a year will be good for your skin ( and the pocket :D ). Thanks a lot again!
    Happy Easter Dr!
    Cheers!

I usually get a VI peel about every 6 months. This is a chemical peel that is first applied in the Dr office and then followed up with 3 more applications at home. Of course I peel like a snake about the third day. You must apply moisturizer & sunblock of 50 while you are completing the peel. My brown spots are lighter and my skin looks great when finished, but am I damaging my skin doing this? You give great info!!

    Hi Dr Davin Lim,
Thank you for your posted video :-)
Isn't stratum corneum the thickest one in Epidermis, as it can be up to 50 layers?

Love your videos. I am 8 weeks into Retin A 0,5%. Could I use a Derma Roller, or would it be too much for mys skin? I am still peeling, but the worst "ugly period" with red and aggressive skin is over.
