Most of the song is in 8/8 (except the intro which is in 7/8). It has nothing to do with the odd time signature though. Time signatures won't make a song "jazzy".
This was literally shocking, coming from someone who has had this song in his head for 30 years. Incredible arrangement and performance. Drum solo slaps.
Holy shit this is what dreams are made of. This recording quality is unreal. A full band. A full camera production. Unique interpretations and solos. Damn, I'm glad I found this channel!!!!
Dude... just when I was lamenting about how I wished SOMEONE would pick up on these incredible tracks and perform them as a live band. Gosh, you guys have just knocked it straight out of the park! I really hope the community finds this and blows it up. Bravo!!
Such a richness of sound. A strong bass brass missing in my life since hearing Blood, Sweat, & Tears' Go Down Gamblin'. It was an awesome song to begin with, but in its arrangement by someone who not just understood the source material but found space within an already technical piece to make his own compliments, it gets that extra boost into the sublime. I am a fan.
I've listened to a few interviews with him, I don't think he's down on it necessarily, just that he did it a long time ago and he is in a different industry now. The internet etc didn't exist in 1993, so he had very little feedback on how good his music was at the time, apart from those of whomever he was developing the games he was working on
@@yhenestik thank you - I can't take credit for the composition, Tim & Geoff Follin worked their magic there...but hope the chart did it some justice :)
I am in absolute, total, complete awe. This is something that has no reason to exist, but every single right to exist. A phenomenal piece of video game music turned into one of the best fusion pieces I've ever heard in my life.
I've been dreaming of this for likea decade. Thank you for doing this song justice. I hope Tim feels the recognition he allegedly longed for in the vgm world from all of these wonderful covers.
I just found these incredible covers from my trombone/euphonium teacher today. These are so great i love this games soundtrack and you've really done well with these arrangements. Amazing job.
The gradual raising in intensity starting at 0:40 into the meter change is incredible! You’ve definitely motivated me to try some things out in my own compositions!
@@MylesWrightMusicFor sure, but the original composition doesn’t include that aspect. Really elevates the original in a way that a live multi instrument composition can :)
I have always wondered what Tim Follin's songs would sounded like if they were to be played by a professional band or orchestra. This is like a dream come true, I love this so much!
This is amazing! I think it’s great that even after all these years, the genius of Tim Follin and the Plok soundtrack is still intriguing and inspiring people.
Wow, what a seamless blend of Cover and Improvisation! Beautiful! I've really enjoyed watching these Plok Covers. Could there possibly be more in the Future? 🙏
I would love to, but these recordings and videos cost a ton of $ to make unfortunately. So it won't be any time soon, but you never know. I did try to pick the best 4 tracks from the game that I felt were most suitable and worthy of this format
@@MylesWrightMusic Understandable, Plok and its Soundtrack are Childhood Favorites of mine, finding these videos on RUclips was an Absolute Treasure. Edit: Just to clarify, these videos you and your team made are Absolute Treasures.
The guitarists part was insane and the drummer at the end was tickling my ears with the high hats, this is such a great rendition of this song. I guess I'll check out the original OST
I'm usually pretty picky about arrangements, but I am blown away here - you absolutely captured the vibrant essence of this masterpiece! Outstanding work!!
Jeff Babko is a session musician who replaced David Paich during some Livefields shows in 2000 and played piano in the Encanto score by Germaine Franco and songs by Lin Manuel Miranda. Glad to see him here performing on a Tim Follin cover.
Oh it's so well arranged and performed! I could not have imagined how well this sort of funky jazzy sound would fit the song. Absolutely brilliant job!
Absolutely brilliant! The Plok soundtrack is a true underrated gem of the SNES and this particular track is probably my favorite of the bunch. Thank you for giving it a new life. I would definitely buy a vinyl of this. Recording and mastering sounds amazing.

Damn, this was how I found out. RIP to an absolute legend. I can only hope he got to see how much people truly appreciated him and his work.

This track was one of Tim's, though.
Now that I think about it, the fancy time signature experimentation in Plok! lends itself perfectly for a jazz arrangement.
