It is always a pleasure watching you and Tim O'Bryant. been following both of you for 7-8 years now, can't even remember anymore. Tim didn't have to come help you but he did. And the two of you talking about Logger Wade got me to watching him, now all his neighbors are doing videos and I like them too. Hi Chris, writing to you from Australia, we (husband and I) love watching your videos. You sure do know what you are doing, very professional, very neat and obviously an expert on ‘pond-dams’. Re pond-dams, these are fascinating to us, no such term (as far as we know) in Australia. We have dams, or tanks, which are generally water storage on rural properties, sometimes used for swimming on a very hot day, and sometimes containing yabbies! Then we have ponds, which are normally small, as in fishpond or lily pond! Larger bodies of man made water containments might be called lakes here. The idea of having the enormous pond-dams that you create is kind of mind boggling. Cheers from us, and keep on digging.
Chris, It’s great watching the experts working and running the equipment. But what about bringing in a young man that needs to learn? Someone needs to train the next generation. I couldn’t imagine a better teacher. It’s nice to have someone to lift the heavy stuff for you.

The sheer mass and how much dirt that machine can move is insane, its crazy to think my little international 4900 is only capable of 1 scoop from that bucket. Hopefully ill be able to get to your size one day!!! Absolutely love the videos and always cant wait for the next one.

While you’re digging at some point, Could you explain from start to finish what the steps are in digging a pond and why you do things the way you do, would be cool to hear! Such as why you dig the core trench and then fill it back in, the size the dam needs to be etc

Chris when you first started this project just listening to you describe how you were going to go about it. I found it hard to visualize it and after you first started moving dirt it was still hard to get a picture of what it would look like when finished. But then you get to a certain point in the project and just by watching your video the picture that you where describing when you first started comes into view and we can visualize what the pond will look like. You sir are amazing with your ability to look at a job and get a mental picture of what needs to be done, and also what it should look like when the project is completed. You definitely can see in your videos that you are a person that truest love the work that you do. Thanks for the amazing videos of the excellent projects that you get to work on.

I've been watching Aussie gold hunters couple years now ... I can only imagine how much ground you could open up for detecting paddocks with one of those 550 beauties , especially if Chris was running it and digging Catto's paddock .

You definitely could get quite an assembly line of machines working, the property owner with his 220 loading the haul truck, ethan or robert driving, tim on dozer and roller and you on the 550. It would be very impressive.

I was just thinking how many labor hours this project would take to do manually! A hundred people 30 years? Hundreds of shovels, months of weather delays. CAPITAL EQUIPMENT is such a game changer!

"Is Chris that funny?" she asked. So I showed her. I'm doing a small load of laundry now. LMAO
Seeing how much dirt you had to move to build this dam, I understand why Big Girl was a necessity. Thanks to Volvo for providing Big Girl for this series of videos. The Komatsu dozer does a pretty good job keeping up with Big Girl though.
Any good follower of Letsdig18 knows who Cotontop3 is. Another man of many talents. We knew you were right Chris. Sometimes you have to stack the deck with good crew. I still can't get over that bucket size.. 9-11 tons per bucket... Wow.

I have been watching you for a long time Chris and it is amazing how much dirt you can move with that new excavator compared to the other excavator you have been using to build dams. Looking good.
In my 35 year plus career as Operator , probably the best compactor was Wagner compactor, its even better then a Catapillar compactor Because it had offset wheels, it compact the hole with of Compactor, , this why you see Chris with a full drum with Compactor. Also Wagner has lots power , was excellent for pushing and Leveling materials.
I was just watching in awe. Your video perspectives really show off the 550E. Watch Gold Rush and they don't have the shots that you have. You need to just keep the 550E.
Now that's digging.👍 I gave up trying to work out the weight about half way through, you'd gone through somewhere like 3000-3500 tons by then I suspect.🤔 Probably double that and then some by the end of this video.🤨 Simply amazing. 😀Looking forward to the next one. 🙂Thanks for it all. Be well.😉

2 and a half scoops.., well really 2 good scoops as Chris spills most of the half scoop over the sides, is the hungry hippo of excavators for sure.

You definitely could get quite an assembly line of machines working, the property owner with his 220 loading the haul truck, ethan or robert driving, tim on dozer and roller and you on the 550. It would be very impressive.

"Is Chris that funny?" she asked. So I showed her. I'm doing a small load of laundry now. LMAO

Seeing how much dirt you had to move to build this dam, I understand why Big Girl was a necessity. Thanks to Volvo for providing Big Girl for this series of videos. The Komatsu dozer does a pretty good job keeping up with Big Girl though.

In my 35 year plus career as Operator , probably the best compactor was Wagner compactor, its even better then a Catapillar compactor Because it had offset wheels, it compact the hole with of Compactor, , this why you see Chris with a full drum with Compactor. Also Wagner has lots power , was excellent for pushing and Leveling materials.
I was just watching in awe. Your video perspectives really show off the 550E. Watch Gold Rush and they don't have the shots that you have. You need to just keep the 550E.
