- Erik ten Hag says he was aware that Manchester United had spoken to other managers before the Premier League club decided to stick with the Dutchman after a difficult season.
Ten Hag said he was on holiday in Ibiza when members of the United hierarchy arrived to inform him they wanted him to remain as United manager.
Former Chelsea and Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel and England manager Gareth Southgate were among those linked with the position after United finished eighth in the Premier League last season.
Speaking on Dutch TV channel NOS on Sunday, Ten Hag said: “The club management came to me while I was on holiday in Ibiza. They suddenly showed up on my doorstep and told me they wanted to continue with me.
“As in any organization, it is wise to evaluate. Manchester United did that too. The new owner (Jim Ratcliffe) is new to football, he has taken his time.
“They have indeed told me that they have spoken to other managers. That is not even allowed in the Netherlands."
The two parties are in the process of agreeing a new contract after Ten Hag engineered a stunning victory for United over Manchester City in the FA Cup final.
“We have had good discussions with each other, various topics have been discussed,” he said. “The conclusion is that we will continue together and that they will extend my contract. We still have to reach an agreement on that.”

That AI translation is cool though personally I think it's better to listen to it in Dutch with the subtitles because you'll get a better idea of the tone. Some of his jokes don't come across well in the translation.
Some of the captions don't seem to translate right either, at least compared against what's already been reported in the media.
Yeah, if that's what you prefer you can do this if you switch to the Dutch audio track and have English subtitles on screen. Everything is explained in the pinned comment.

On Sky Sports it's reported as "Well, look in the Netherlands this is simply not done. We also have different regulations and that is not allowed at all." Your AI-generated translation says "Well look in the Netherlands that is still thin(?) we have CDV(??) here and that's not allowed at all."
@nickraoyj That's it? The Sky Sports translation is incredibly simplified and words are just added in that he does not say at all, mine goes into much more detail. I received the same translation as them (We have the same source for this video with provided translation) but I chose to get my own enhanced translation. It's actually called interpretation because people can interpret in different ways, if you get the very best interpreters in the world to interpret the same video they would all come up with different words but the meaning should be roughly the same. It's not "AI translated captions", the AI is used create the voices not makes up the translations accurately.

The key is what Ineos did. If they just went behind a person in post with the view of sacking the person and bringing in another and that was in clear breach of your contract then that would be constructive dismissal. However Ineos just had a review and with no predetermined outcome (or so we are told) and thus technically what they did was perfectly legal if ethically dubious
What INEOS did is legal BUT now they have given ETH ALL the bargaining power as they work on ETH new contract. Imagine INEOS not able to meet ETH demand, INEOS will have to start looking for a manager again!!
