Maybe 19 is the magic number for phone durability, just like 42 is the answer to everything. If you look inside the number 19 carefully, you'll see the formula for nokium.
It's a solid device for the money its worth. Got the G4 plus for my mom and she enjoys it a lot. I was amazed to see it get updated to nougat so fast. Kudos Moto.
from a durability perspective and repairability an LG G6 is my choice, but I keep thinking about a very good daily use case for Samsung Dex... if only there's an Android Dex for all android phones
That is the BEST repair vid I have EVER seen. SO clear , quick pace, easy to follow...excellent communication.. overall very professional. .... now I want to break the screen just so I can repair it !! (Jerry looks like a weird dentist in that light blue gown!?)
Love jerry rig he goes above and beyond with listing off all the tools and supplies in description something I my self will never use but it's nice to know some has done the work of telling me where to go if I ever need to fix my phone or if i know someone who might find this video keep up the good work zach love your videos
This phone is pretty great actually, I have one along with my Nexus 5X and it works pretty great for its price. Why are you saying it's garbage? Because it already has Nougat and your phone does not?
IMPORTANT: The Moto G4 needs a T3 torx bit, not the T4 he shows in this video. I don't know how this mix up happened, but I wasted $25 at the store for a bit set that went down to T4, after watching this video, then confirmed with several other sources that I in fact needed a T3 for this phone. Regular Moto G4 Model: XT1625
BEST phone I have ever had had it for 5 years 100/100 fully survived saltwater, 2 10 meter drops and daily use time for an upgrade so today bought a new Motorola! HYPE
wow you're getting thousands of subscribers on a daily basis man, close to 1million now!! You deserve it, your videos are pretty entertaining and you have a lot of knowledge :)
thanks zack for posting much awaited video.i am in middle of my graduation exams but, i will definitely watch durability of moto g5 tomorrow and will surely smash that like button.
Thanks so much! Just had to replace my phone's screen and this saved me big time! It was going to be $130 to get it done at a shop but I was able to replace it for $50 myself. Cheers!
This video helped me replacing my screen. Thank you. You can buy a new screen combined with the frame on aliexpress for just about 36$. So taking off the actual screen is not necessary. Be careful with the connector of the headphone jack. I broke mine and it is hard to get replacement
I didn't know my phone was as durable as it was in the video! Pretty cool! I'm getting a case soon, though, because I've noticed a hairline scratch just above the camera lens, and I want to protect it from drops obviously!
Awesome video once again! Even though i have no interest in taking apart my phone i still enjoy watching these a lot And hey the iphone 6 is a mighty good phone! Don't fire shots at it please or i'll feel like it's outdated :(
Samsung galaxy s8 is coming soon Jack, you are going to have a pretty interesting scratch test and teardown video with that "infinity display" in the near future, cant wait for that :) .
I really would like to see Sony Xperia X compact teardown and know your opinion about the placement of the battery above the CPU,keep up the good work.
Zack, The timing on the release of this video couldn't have been any better. My sister wound up cracking her Moto G4's screen a couple months ago, and just asked me to replace it. I wound up looking for videos on RUclips this morning trying to get an idea of what needed to be done, and literally right after I thought "I wonder if JerryRigAnything has any teardown guides." this was uploaded. Great minds think alike I suppose. -Zack
hello jerry, did you put bird chirping sound or is it from outside ? its so minimalist, i had check if it was not from outside my window. Great video as always.
Hey JerryRigEverything , Love your teardown /replacement videos .here s an issue that I have with the Motorola G4, the replacement battery has a lengthier wire than the original .So what could be your suggestion... Get a new battery or let the insulated portion of the wire to stay in contact with the battery .. do you think it could cause an issue in the long run
Hi, thanks for sharing such informative teardown. My display just broke yesterday after using more than 2 years. So I'm going to replace it now. What I want to know is whether screen retention (screen burn-in) issue gets resolved after replacing with newer panels. Can anyone confirm that for me please?
I think the head of the R&D team of MotoG4 had swallowed a Lego piece when he was kid. That's why special care was taken not to use any Lego type connections in the phone. LOL.
Zack is a young guy but he nags about old stuff like a 80 years old talking abut good old film camera days. Everyone I know is on wireless headphones/EarPods regardless they use iPhone or Android. I am the last of my friends to jump to Bluetooth headphone and what a great jump that was. No more wires always catching on my armrests or holding phone funny to avoid the jack.
I opened my Redmi Note 3, it seems this one here is so much better terms of build quality. Of course you can repair the RN3 but in comparison this here seems a pleasure for a workshop guy. Another thought, plastic phones can be made stronger than these aluminium designs. If the device with aluminium unibody falls onto one of its edges, the edge will give in bcs aluminium is soft. My (plastic) Zenfone fell several times and it never had any corner smashed. Scars yes, but no squashed corners The best plastic phone was my wives old Nokia 620 with sort of a polycarbonate unibody. I can use that as an emergency brake pad on my car and then still make a phone call.
Jerry I am using Moto g4 plus since 23rd January 2017 the phone a has hot a lot of scratches on rear camera lens but in your video you had none on your Moto g4... please test the Moto g4 plus and let us know how to fix this issue... WAITING FOR YOUR REPLY 😃
I got the same phone as you and I got no scratches at all. What the hell have you been doing with your phone? I do use a case though but still the camera is exposed.
hey Jerry, I'm a big fan of your videos, you really do a great job! I just got a new SGS7 edge and I'm very obsessed with keeping it in a good condition.. Can you please tell me how to correctly charge the phone to keep the battery last long and is true that first days I must use it untill 0% and then charge it 6 hours? sorry for long comment!
Loving all the subtle references to Apple. Keep it up, maybe they will listen. It's a shame a great company like Apple is going down because they are so stubborn.
Hey Zack! love the videos been one of the very early folks to join the JerryRig bandwagon. Would it also be possible to also include a drop test in your durability videos so as to understand how fragile these screens are. It's a criteria I look at for durability and am sure many others would as well.
hi zack, the repair video is great as always of course(: and i would like to now will you ever consider to do zte nubia Series phone? it will be really interesting because their build quality is really nice and i would like to see how high it is. thnx again zack(:
I have a Moto g4 play and it survived everything EXCEPT a big claw hammer.....the claw part got stuck in the screen causing the backlight to mess up other than that, still works. It's just there for replacement parts just in case the one I'm using now breaks
*Hey Zack ..! could you review Lenovo Zuk Z2 plus.., They claim it have **_Roll cage_** build for increased durability. Also it's the cheapest Snapdragon 820 here*
19 screws.
Exact number that the Nokia had, maybe that's why the G4 survived. 😉
Chinmay Dhumal I am typing this from the g4 I really like the quality
seems to be the magic number for a durable phone
Chinmay Dhumal Damn, my phone has 1,000 screws inside. Why is it not as durable as this and Nokia 6?
Maybe 19 is the magic number for phone durability, just like 42 is the answer to everything. If you look inside the number 19 carefully, you'll see the formula for nokium.
Chinmay Dhumal o
It's a solid device for the money its worth. Got the G4 plus for my mom and she enjoys it a lot. I was amazed to see it get updated to nougat so fast. Kudos Moto.
I like how the G4 looks better than the G5 XD
xXNightWolfXx And even the G4 is bigger and has, if not all, better specs than the G5. lol
Zadalmelik011 ikr, They should've improve the design but they used moto z design instead.
bruh great phone still tho best camera available to my knowledge
Its gonna be an actual painful video when he does the S8
iMrParker Ye...
iMrParker Why?
PaperInsults The S8 isnt optimize for repairing by the average consumer
It's build shitty for the costumer who wants a durable phone.... let's not sugarcoat.
from a durability perspective and repairability an LG G6 is my choice, but I keep thinking about a very good daily use case for Samsung Dex... if only there's an Android Dex for all android phones
This video helped me to understand the installation of a new screen. It took me an hour or so with a break or two to regather my courage.
As a G4 user, I can honestly say I'm blown away at the quality for the money.
That is the BEST repair vid I have EVER seen. SO clear , quick pace, easy to follow...excellent communication.. overall very professional. .... now I want to break the screen just so I can repair it !! (Jerry looks like a weird dentist in that light blue gown!?)

This phone is dope
This phone is garbage.
Jonathan Fancher lol
This phone is pretty great actually, I have one along with my Nexus 5X and it works pretty great for its price. Why are you saying it's garbage? Because it already has Nougat and your phone does not?
lol
+Rajat Kaushal the 625 is also garbage and a last year SoC
I'll probably never need to use one of your teardown videos but I still watch them for the pure entertainment value.
Yes, a good point, as I didn't have a T4 and the T3 fits fine.
BEST phone I have ever had
had it for 5 years
100/100
fully survived saltwater, 2 10 meter drops and daily use
time for an upgrade so today bought a new Motorola!

your videos are just pure genius
Outstanding channel, massive step up for disassembly vids

1:42 I laughed my ass off
Paolo Sbalchiero Zach really have some issues with Headphone jack
I laugh every time at specific things:
a) SD Card Slot
b) Headphone
:D
He has some seeeerious issues with that fruit-named manufacture HASDHUASHDUHASDHA
emm Moto Z does not have 3,5mm jack too..
true ahahah, it shows up in every single video. i just love it
i love the way you narrate !!
thanks zack for posting much awaited video.i am in middle of my graduation exams but, i will definitely watch durability of moto g5 tomorrow and will surely smash that like button.

Thanks so much! Just had to replace my phone's screen and this saved me big time! It was going to be $130 to get it done at a shop but I was able to replace it for $50 myself. Cheers!
you are the best tech reviewer

Damm, Zack giving sick burns to the isheeps.
I can only imagine what will he say in g5 video 🙈
+Mr. E That's right
Their fanboys deserve every insult they get, sans death threats.
The Toadies 😂😂
Vinay Thakur I have a feeling that youre a samsung user? Dont bother answering, it probably wont be the truth.
The iphone fanboys also get burned, since they blindly defend everything apple does
HYPED for G5. I'm thinking of getting the phone.
I love your content, best tech channel ever
Cant wait for the G5 Teardown. Really interested in that phone.
Super excited for Moto G5. Recently bought one (G5 Plus)
Best demo I saw, thanks.👍
Really smooth video Zack, thanks. You "almost" made it right through without the Lego connector. Its always fun to hear it though.

I didn't know my phone was as durable as it was in the video! Pretty cool! I'm getting a case soon, though, because I've noticed a hairline scratch just above the camera lens, and I want to protect it from drops obviously!

Great sense of humour.
I think Motorola inner parts have are more quality than other Chinese phones

What I want to know is whether screen retention (screen burn-in) issue gets resolved after replacing with newer panels. Can anyone confirm that for me please?
Still have the G4 Plus since December 2016, and it's still holding up in July 2018, despite the battery deterioration from excessive use.
I think the head of the R&D team of MotoG4 had swallowed a Lego piece when he was kid. That's why special care was taken not to use any Lego type connections in the phone. LOL.
hi😁😁 Greetings from Greece
Nokia had 19 screws as well!!
That's the new durability formula apparently 😋😎

Yaa that is why I am asking Jerry to test Moto g4 plus too
I got the same phone as you and I got no scratches at all. What the hell have you been doing with your phone? I do use a case though but still the camera is exposed.
Zack=Star Wars fan: "....aggressive negotiation..." :) As for the 19 screws? For sure, the more screws the better!

I have a Moto g4 play and it survived everything EXCEPT a big claw hammer.....the claw part got stuck in the screen causing the backlight to mess up other than that, still works. It's just there for replacement parts just in case the one I'm using now breaks
What's your opinion on the S8? The big screen looks good but I really dislike the Samsung phone ascetics. Maybe you have a repairability opinion!
I love how he still calls out apple. it makes my soul smile
*Hey Zack ..! could you review Lenovo Zuk Z2 plus.., They claim it have **_Roll cage_** build for increased durability. Also it's the cheapest Snapdragon 820 here*
am I the only one who smashes like button before watching the video?
