    loss of boot-mode "Legacy"/ "AHCI" choice in BIOS I see often causing a "No Boot Device" error and halt at startup, because the coin battery is now past the 10 years expiration date. It's in black shrink, double-face taped when you turn the silver cooler plate upside down, I think it should be changed while the silver steel plate is out in the open. It seems all brands laptop use the identical white plastic tip at the other end of those spot-weld attached black and red copper stranded RTC lithium 2032 cell.

    Hi buddy, did you replace the thermal paste? I used a silver one on mine but the laptop seems to be hotter :v no idea why. I used a Silver thermal paste, but it's hitting 80ºC on normal usage...

      Yes I did put new thermal paste. I don't think the color matters. did you make sure you added the enough? take a look at this video ruclips.net/video/ZFiY2iPCT5A/видео.html The prosses of adding thermal paste is the same. The type I use is the MX-5 Thermal Compound by Arctic or the HY-P13 Thermal Paste. Another alternative is the a Noctua Thermal paste, any model. also do not use the spoon, added the same way I added on the video I just show you. i don't remember correctly but I think there are 2 things that you need to add thermal paste on the Lenovo Twist. just make sure you put thermal pads on the areas indicated.

    can you upgrade the RAM adding additional 4Gig?

    • @gothaurustech
      @gothaurustech  2 года назад +3

      I believe that I have answer this question on a previews comment. No you can not add any more ram. The ram on this notebook it's integrated on the motherboard (soldered) and can not be replace unless you change the entire motherboard.

      Thank you for your question. I am sorry, I can not help with this. I can only give you the standard troubleshooting, and that is to open the laptop and make sure there is no dust and othere debris obstructing. Also make sure the first display is properly connected. When you open the laptop make keep on the look for rusted parts, or damaged parts, if you find rusted parts the only way to fix them is to remove it and solder a new part, however this process is extremely difficult. Another option would be to get a motherboard, depending where you live it might be difficult to get. Right now on the USA a refurbished lenovo twist laptop is around 120 usd to 200 and up. If you can find a motherboard that is at least 50 usd will be a good deal, if it is higher than that, it best to just get a refurbished laptop.

      Too late maybe, but someone else might be forewarned. ThinkPads and other Lenovo laptops are infamous for their tendence to blow a fuse if you don't disconnect the battery before fiddling with your computer. So, probably there is a small fried component waiting for being replaced..

    Hello sir. My Bios is locked, I can't get past the locked Bios to launch windows, and I do not have the Supervisor Password. Is it possible that this was caused by an old CMOS battery? I will be replacing it, but if there is still a problem with the locked Bios I think I will have to short the EEPROM chip to gain access. Could you tell me the approximate location of the EEPROM chip?
    Thank you for your videos.

      I am sorry for my late reply I hope you all ready have solved the issue. If not then here is some advice. Disconnect the battery and the CMOS battery then keep pressing the power on button for about 20 seconds or a minute if you are more patient. Then plug in everything back and test it. Unfortunately I don't have this laptop with me I have sold it. So I can't give you the exact location of the EEPROM.

      No, it is not possible
      Those two letters "EE" "PROM" mean electrically erasable. All of the BIOS chip is wiped, including the ability to make any image on the screen or use a keyboard or scratchpad. Borrow a chip copier and edit the serial number to that of a "busted" S230u

    sorry bro but how i change like u and make new windows on new m sata?

    • @gothaurustech
      @gothaurustech  Год назад +1

      Is not difficult, all you need is a usb of at least 16 gb after that you need to download the windows media creation tool. ill post the link on a pin comment. then just launch the program and follow the steps. also you can just search how to create a windows 10 bootable USB on youtube and you will get many results. Still I will make a new video about how to install windows but it will take me some time due to work and stuff. So if this is urgent I recommend searching on google or youtube how to create a windows 10 bootable device. I no longer have this laptop but the process is similar with any laptop. Before you install windows remove the "Main hard drive" and just leave the M sata after that just install windows 10, if you have the SSD and M SATA of similar capacity it will be hard to identify the SSD and m SATA because windows only show sizes. best option is to disconnect the SSD and leave the M SATA. That way only one storage is shown when you install windows.

      also make sure to get your windows key first before you install a the new windows or link the key to your email.

      @@gothaurustech If you can see foil rectangle sticker with deep-red (Win8) or purple Windows-pane logo, the Wizard will see "Home" or "Pro" Activation PIN that Lenovo calls "Feature Code", the menu choice is skipped. The activation needs no human action.

      @Bryan Minugh This is based on my personal experience but sometimes it does not work if you install a clean version of windows 10. Remember it's new hardware that is being added, sometimes windows 10 doesn't pay nicely when adding a new part. It has happened to me before. There is a tool that will get you the windows key if you didn't retrieve it before erasing windows, but it's hard to find nowadays.

    Did you use 0.5mm or 1mm thermal pads?

    • @gothaurustech
      @gothaurustech  3 года назад

      I use 1.5mm thermal pad. If you don't have 1.5mm then you can stack 2, 1mm. I have not seen any performance impact, but if you use a 1.5 it will have less pressure. So 1.5mm will be best if you have it available.

      @@gothaurustech Thank you! Also, do you think an SSD NVME will work/fit on this laptop?

      I have already purchased a 256GB 2.5" one but it may take a month to be delivered here, so since I have this NVME at home, may help me these days, HD is pretty slow haha

      @@Lucas-mu5no no the ssd nvme does not fit. It needs to be a msata ssd. m.sata is smaller than the nvme, like about have the size, and a bit thicker. My little brother have use it for school and so far he has not come plain about being to hot. I will be taking temperature again to make sure I am correct. Make sure the fan is working.
