Honestly, the fairies seem to be like an after thought in this show, they really can't let this franchise die.
This was probably gonna be another lame a$s sitcom that lasts like 1 season.

Vicki having a crush on Crocker feels like something that could have happened in the original series but like, one episode where she sees him being evil at the beginning and gets starry eyed, only to see him in a more normal setting where he does something that breaks her fantasy and she's disgusted or annoyed by the end
Not a whole ass show
Vicki crushing on crocker feels like a wattpad fanfiction you immediately want to forget after you read it
Let me guess, nemu? I don't there's been many crocker fangirls.
In the original he was afraid of Vicky. They were on screen together in When Losers Attack. He was afraid of her.
Can't believe they shipped Vicky and Crocker of all people, like, wasn't Vicky a teenager in the original series while Crocker was already in his thirties or more? Jeez.
It honestly just creeps me out, like, Vicky was a teenager in the first show, Croker is an old ass dude.
If it’s really only 1 animator on the show, then that’s impressive. And probably a human right’s violation somehow.

They even broke the lore, again. The fairys are supposed to leave when they get a certain age and forget about them. Moreover the godparents are assigned by the fairys not passed down
fairly odd parents hasn't followed its own rules for a long time so is that a surprised
@@jdawson7877 that's why I said again u dingus
@@jdawson7877 Exactly, they stopped caring ages ago. :(
Oh they made it clear a _long_ time ago that Timmy for whatever reason is the Ultra Special Exception to the rules, so he can keep his fairies for as long as he wants and do whatever he likes with them, apparently.
@@elsie8757 probably because he saved fairy world multiple times and the entire galaxy yeah that makes sense. In my defense it's been several years
The thing that annoys me the most about this show is that it completely ignores and ruins the lore of the original show. Fairies aren’t passed down, they are assigned to the most miserable children on earth with the job to make the child happy and feel loved. Timmy was neglected by his parents, had an abusive babysitter and teacher, and was bullied constantly, so Cosmo and Wanda were assigned to him. Once the child grows up they don’t need the fairies anymore and they go onto there next child. The show would’ve been better if they did what the ending of the special Channel Chasers did where we see an older Timmy (who has forgotten about Cosmo and Wanda) and he has two kids with his own who now have Cosmo and Wanda as there fairies. That would’ve made a more interesting spin off show than this live action garbage
Edit: Some of you are getting this the wrong way, no Timmy isn’t an abusive parent I never said that, but kids can be miserable in different ways. Watch the end of Channel Chasers. Timmy is a loving father, he’s just oblivious
There was a rule that he can lend his fairies to a kid that has a life at least twice as miserable as his. And I'm mixed about Princeton, on one hand how come he managed to get into Princeton, but on the other hand it shows Cosmo and Wanda really made his life better
@@Hiverstone His cousin’s life isn’t worse than his though so that rule can’t really apply. All she got is moving away, her dad remarrying, and being neglected sometimes. Timmy had a teacher and babysitter who wanted to torture/kill him on a daily basis, mostly just for their amusement.
The Princeton thing I can agree with you on. It could be a sign that Cosmo and Wanda did succeed in making his life better and did a good job basically raising him.
@@thefabuloustrash05 It is though. Timmy doesn't have any of those things anymore his live is happy. And Vivian's parents love her but neglect her like Timmy's did, Timmy's babysitter became Vivian's teacher and Timmy's teacher became her teacher accomplice.
Oh yeah, I forgot about that movie ending! The funny thing is, when I first heard about this reboot, I thought Vivian and Roy were supposed to be Timmy's kids. Like, he's an adult now, he got married, and completely forgot about just how BAD his childhood was and the existence of his fairy godparents, so he and his wife become just as shitty of parents to their children as his parents were before him. Which honestly, would be a lot more interesting than what the reboot actually is.

Fun Fact: Butch Hartman didn’t have that much involvement, he was just a “executive producer”.

Yeah, they've taken his children (series) and destroyed them. I think he's lost it because of this.
so for once we can't blame him.
To be fair, do we really want Butch involved directly with anything anymore?
Don’t you have heavy involvement in a show if you’re the executive producer?
The fairies aren’t the most unrealistic part of the show. What’s unrealistic is having Timmy Turner, a kid who pretty much got exclusively F’s in elementary school, go to Princeton, an Ivy League college.
To be fair, he probably got better grades with teachers who weren't addicted to handing out F's like they were candy.

I’m pretty sure the reason why Timmy constantly gets F’s is because:
1. Crocker hates him
2. He has a short attention span
It’s never stated in the show that Timmy isn’t a smart kid.
Craig Bartlett the creator of Hey Arnold! has said it best:
"Every year they got bigger and more corporate than the year before. While Herb was running things, it just grew more and more corporate, and less like you have a personal touch. It was probably just inevitable that that was the way it was going to go, it wasn't Herb's fault. Herb's Nick was still a great place to be, but each year it got bigger and more out of control."
Hey Arnold was my childhood but I was born like 7 years later
@@ilovedoggiess That's awesome! I love when shows I grew up with still get fans from each following generation. ❤
That could apply to so many other companies that were once top-tier but now feel like soulless corporations: Disney, SEGA, Nintendo, Activision, EA, Warner Bros. Sony PlayStation, etc etc etc.
Everyone talks about how the capitalist business world’s obsession with unlimited growth is horrible for a world that clearly has limited resources, and while I feel that is an extremely important way to look at this, I also feel this obsession with unlimited growth is also simply bad for the quality of the products, especially when artist-types are involved. I feel like there’s a point where a company goes from creative to creative-but-also-with-some-mighty-budgets to devoid of creativity, but at least looks high-budget to, finally, what we seem to be getting with Viacom and Paramount Plus where their content is neither creative nor expensive-looking.
I guess an easy example of this besides Viacom is how I feel the PlayStation brand hit a sweet spot of “middle class” games that had both creative ideas and stunning graphics for the time in the PS2 era, and from there they focused more on graphics rather than creativity or even fun, even going as far as to shut down their beloved Sony Japan studio, censor sexualized games (while leaving the gore and violence intact, naturally), and essentially signaling to all the smaller indie studios that helped the PS4 be so successful to just go make their games with less-than-AAA graphics for Switch and Xbox instead, as if high-end 3D visuals are all that matter to the brand now.

This reboot actually broke me, Nickelodeon has reach a new layer of awful and lazy, and I certainly doubt that Nick will get anything of quality and great content anymore, Nick isn’t the same channel I grew up loving, it got rotten and lazy as the years go on, and it’s so sad to see what Nick has turned into.
So Thank You Nick, this is why I’m not watching your channels and shows anymore, the quality has dropped so hard, that it makes me and everyone else angry, now I can only rely on Netflix or any talented writer or person, to make a good show, if they do, I’ll be happy, but greatness, and quality, is about to become the exception, not the rule.

I was actually more into Nickelodeon than Cartoon Network in the 2000s. For most of the 2010s I skipped out on all of content coming out until Loud House because of my little sister. I then decided to catch up on a lot of those shows and damn it became really apparent how much of a shell Nick became in that time whereas CN and Disney kept releasing great stuff.
Nowadays Nick and Paramount have absolutely nothing to do anymore except just promise that eventually some new Avatar content will come out and just do weird reboots of shows that new fans will skip and old fans will hate
Anyone else wanna yell at the people of paramount for this
There is no show in television history more synonymous with jumping the shark than The Fairly OddParents is.

Honestly, having Vicky as the mean teacher and then discovering Crocker’s lair and going “hey wait a sec…this explains all the weird stuff I saw with Timmy” is a smart way to evolve the character. Too bad they did her badly and it was for this show
Not to mention, Tootie, Chloe and Poof never made an appearance in Fairly Odder. Also, while Vicky makes appearance in Fairly Odder, how is it that Vicky never mentions Tootie in Fairly Odder.

They could have easily made an animated spin-off sequel based off the ending of "Channel Chashers".

That would require paramount to actually care about the franchise

That Could Be Interesting.
As much as we wanted this to happen, the chances that a Fairly OddParents spinoff like that will happen are negative 100%. Because knowing Nick, SpongeBob reruns will always become their norm. At this point we shouldn’t trust Nick to hire people with real talent to make this happen. We all knew the Fairly OddParents reboot was going to be bad the moment it was announced given that the original show had the most infamous seasonal rot of all cartoons. I’m just baffled when it’s obvious that Nick rehired Hartman despite how much his reputation as a creator had fallen since the third season of Danny Phantom.
What angers me is that this show’s premise has a lot of potential. It would of been cool to see Timmy all grown up like in the channel chasers special. Timmy, Cosmo, and Wanda could act as role models. We could see how the other characters grew up and changed.
They deserve to die for what they did to Fairly Oddparents!
Maybe poof could have grown up enough to be allowed to be a fairy godparent but he asks his parents for advice sometimes or something.
It could’ve been a content refresher for the show because the main reason why the original died was because it’s been going on for so long that they ran out of ideas. It was so surreal seeing Darth Laser in newer episodes because I’ve always remembered him from the first few seasons.

the part of the party city costume scene that feels even worse to me somehow is that the buildings are very, very clearly made of tape and cardboard. They didn't even paint them or use colored construction paper or anything. Heck, the skyscraper in the back isn't even 3d, it's just a cutout. Now THAT's cheap and lazy
I haven't seen the show, but was that scene seemingly thinking it was actually parodying Godzilla, rather than parodying the parodies?
Because people who haven't actually watched Godzilla seem to think it used cheap fake-looking cardboard props when it actually used high quality model buildings (including internal lighting). So crappy parodies often involve cheap cardboard buildings.
The original Godzilla was AMAZING and still is! This right here is ultimate TRASH. The original Godzilla actual tried and succeeded in it's time, even now, it's cheesy but classic and still great.
I refuse to believe that was not an ironic scene
I think that the relationship between Vicky and Crocker could've been much better if they had a evil, twisted student-teacher relationship (with no romantic signs) which could be an antithesis to Timmy and Crocker's.

I wish America's obsession with turning animated classics into live action could just die already. The west, has a weird prejudice against 2D animation in general, labeling anything cartoon like as just "Kids stuff" in their mind or to people who enjoy them.
Even when I was in grade school from elementary to high school, there was always that one kid who goes "Isn't that show for kids?" Simply because it's 2D animated, heck sometimes even 3D animated. A classmate of mine in middle school mocked me for watching avatar the last air bender, telling me that show was for babies, while one girl didn't want to watch the Incredible in class because she assumed it was gonna be bad just because it was 3D animated (She ended up enjoying it, so I rubbed it in her face for how wrong she was for judging.) 1. It says something when the best representation of The Fairly Odd Parents in live action is the Daydream episode of Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide, which came out around 2004-2005. That show was created by former Fairly Odd Parents writer Scott Fellows.
2. We have a show about two kids as part of a mixed family dynamic, and they have access to two magical macguffins that can give them what they want. Coincidentally, Jack Thomas (who was the associate story editor for seasons 2-5 of The Fairly Odd Parents) was the executive producer on The Replacements.

We could've gotten a full Crash Nebula series instead, but that one is still a backdoor pilot from almost 19 years ago and we're stuck with this.
That sounds like a good idea, why haven't they tried it yet
Even if the characters of the Crash Nebula pilot were a bit bland I rather have that than whatever this is.
There are two reasons why the Crash Nebula pilot was never picked up. The co-creator of Crash Nebula left Nickelodeon and the movie version that Butch write was too similar to Sky High according to executives.
Keep the cliche characters! I… can’t believe I’m saying this but I’d love a new superhero show (animated/live action) that takes the serious/continuous story lines but just *INJECTED CAMPINESS ALL UP IN THERE*

You gotta love the fact the Mr Crocker prison scene looks like Newgrounds flash animation. Also, Newgrounds done better than Fairly Odd Parents reboot.

I heard that the animators were crunched for time. In this situation it's the problem of the studio/producers who didn't give them enough time to animate it properly
This literally makes Season 10 look like a masterpiece.

I don't think hearing about Vicky wanting Crocker as a boyfriend was something I needed to hear today
having her look up to Crocker as a mentor would have been a much better idea
but her obsessive crush on a 40-50 year old man is... creepy
Vicky is a mentor yes, but i dont think there is anyone above her level to mentor her lol
It's so strange...
In the original show, I don't ever remember a moment we're Vicky and Crocker we're in the same room. More or less knew each other...
So, how did she go from not know him to being obsessed with him, what happened?
How/Where did they meet?
What happened to the boy she had a crush on? ( It's been a while since I've seen the original show I forget his name lol)
Did he die or did they just not work out?
What made Vicky so obsessed with Crocker, like did he do something that made her think, "yeah, he's the one!", If so, then what?
How did she know about the fairies or that he was interested in them?
I personally feel like it would've been better if they left her out of the show entirely...
Her reappearing was unnecessary, especially after the did her dirty like this....
I was never a fan of the original series, but JFC, I would take that over this dumpster fire any day. When will the companies learn that we don't want live-action remakes of beloved animated shows?
....Probably never.
Imagine time-traveling back to the year 2001 when FOP was new and telling somebody what the show is going to be like in 20+ years.
if you told me back then i wouldn't be that surprised as scooby doo's been going with multiple series and movies since the 60s, several of which weren't great either, even live action ones and whatever a pup named scooby doo was.. or scrappy-doo.. ogod.
Would they even care?
Well actually technically 1998 when cosmo was smart
My to do list for if they ever invented time travel is getting long enough as it is. I’m already going to have to save key scenes from half a dozen Disney movies from the cutting room floor as it is!
I'd warn at about the twin towers instead
I give it one point: *It didn't use the horrifying 3D fairly odd parents from the Jimmy Timmy Power Hour.*

What about the puppets from Channel Changers? Why couldn’t we at least get those back?
The first time I actually saw Power Hour was when I caught it on TV after a commercial break. I just remember the commercials ending and it fading into this creepy looking 3D Timmy.
Wishology was the perfect ending just don’t do the memory wipe thing

The fact that they didn't even bother giving a budget to a show that NEEDS a big budget is really telling.

"Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide", which actually featured Cosmo and Wanda in one episode, was a live-action cartoon and it was great. Although there are some aspects of the show that haven't aged well, it has held up pretty well. It's at least still watchable. This show *was released* in 2022 and it's an unwatchable mess! 😂
As far as I am concerned: NDSSG was the peak of live-action Nickelodeon.
It was also Scrubs for kids, to the point where most characters even have analogs to the other show.
Scott Fellows shows (or at least Ned's and BTR) prove that a live action cartoon type of show can be done well. I don't think Saber should knock the idea of live action people in a cartoonish type show since that was part of what made those shows so charming. But I can't blame him since this show doesn't work at all and just lacks all of what made those shows fun. Plus at least in Ned's the fairies actually looked well animated. Here it's like they just phoned it all in. Maybe they should've just hired Scott Fellows to do it or something
What did not age well?
@ While I haven't watched it recently, but I would be surprised if there weren't at least a few special effects that wouldn't hold up to the current standards. It also wouldn't surprise me if there were a few jokes that wouldn't fly by the current social standards as it started 18 years ago and was set in a middle school addressing things that were relatable to young teens of the time.
Yes, the clothing of the kids here, o my god! No child in real life runs around in any of the outfits from the show unless they are obnoxious brats.

Did you not have crushes when you were a kid?
@@billblaski9523Having a crush and being romantic with someone are two VERY different things
There's really not much to understand as to why they went the live-action route.
A few cheap sets, really young, clearly inexperienced and painfully untalented actors are way cheaper than commissioning a season of an animated series with professional voice actors, even if you horribly phone in the script.
And as for the musical numbers, they're there for the same reason musical numbers are always there. Because the writers are so completely untalented they can't think of more than 5 minutes worth of plot for each episode so the songs exist to pad out the runtime.
No more, no less.
Not only the cost wise, but we all know why they really ummm...... "Like" their young actors and actresses....
Indeed. Want to think it's more dramatic than that, but sadly, it's simply as simple as it's cheaper to do than actually animating it. This would be no different than any other of the live-action sitcoms efforts they have without the fares, and it's all for the services of the limitations they still have with what they have on hand in live-action.
The musical numbers in Crazy Ex-Girlfriend would take issue with your assessment.
Money?
What of the o.g writers of the show?
This show makes the live action movies look like masterpieces.
@SlyCooperRocks exactly, like they at least TRIED in the movies to keep it classic. Here, they didn’t try AT ALL.
Imagine being worse than the live action movies of all freaking things.
Nickelodeon's situation saddens me. They used to have one of the diverse IP lineups out there. But their refusal to pursue ideas that did not resemble SpongeBob not only pushed away creators, but is also hurting them. Instead of trying to get new ideas, Nick has had to buy rights to existing properties like Smurfs, Garfield, and Monster High, as well as creating reboots/spinoffs of existing IP in order to compete with other streaming platforms.
"Vicky's an adult now, so it's okay she has a crush on Crocker."
Yeah, sure, tell that to my sick stomach.
The animation sequences seriously feels like something out of Newgrounds animated parody from the 2000s/2010s… actually, no, even those look more acceptable than this. Mr. Crocker Fails the Competition!
Real quick. Wasn’t one of the requirements to gain fairies was to be borderline depressed? I mean look at Timmy
•Parents who don’t really raise him well
•Vicky being his worse nightmare
•Being bullied at school
•His teacher singling him out on a whim and always failing him
Even though it was played for laughs, I do remember that there was a NEED for fairies in the original show and that if anyone knew about them, they would have to leave
Yet here we are getting a live action TV show about a few kids who don’t even need them or have a reason to be depressed. Just the plot of “Oh my dad is getting remarried. Oh boo hoo.”
And I feel bad for so many people, especially for those who grew up with this show. Times were simple and fun and you would run home to watch your favorite cartoon shows. Only now, people are showing less and less creativity and don’t know what else to do. And putting out stuff like this really shows. I for one would like to look back at my childhood shows in a good way. I love SpongeBob to death and can shout out numerous quotes from so many characters, but watching these new episodes and spin off series makes me…iffy and sad. Seeing how Vicky is just now made to be in love with Crocker just makes me think someone during the writing process thought of how popular the Harley Quinn and Joker thing was and thought “hey we can replicate that, this should be easy money if people get behind that.” Like there was no reason for the relationship to exist at all other than they’re just the villains of the show but it feels more off considering how pre-established they are compared to Harley just literally being made for Joker

Fr especially with kamp coral and the Patrick star show
Yeah, for me, when I go to make movies and shows, I don't wanna play off peoples' nostalgia. I wanna give them a SENSE of nostalgia. Make things that FEEL like they were made in previous years. And I think other people should do the same.
Mary Jo Catlett should have warned them that using *Diff’rent Strokes* as a spinoff farm only worked once (which is how she got that job).
Between FOP and Loud House, I think the biggest problem with Nick's live action adaptations is that they still treat them like cartoons. Said stories would work fine in animation, but making them live action and not keeping it grounded somewhat in reality leads to cheap and cringey results no matter how hard some of the actors may try. It's stuff like this that makes me worry if they ever did a live action Danny Phantom, which is something I've always loved to see and ripe with potential but not if it's done like this.
Also Vicky and Crocker? EWWWWWWW!
They need new content. It’s bad now. No more live actions or reboots. Just newly fresh cartoons.
A PG-13 live action Danny Phantom could be PHENOMENAL if executed properly with great writers and casting. It could legitimately spawn a new cinematic franchise that could appeal to teenagers and older millennials who’ve got nostalgia.

The concept of the show was good, with an adult Timmy passing his fairies onto his cousin, it's quite similar to the storyline in Toystory 3 with adult Andy. However, the show was executed poorly, and making it live action was even worse.
The difference being, fairies aren't toys. They're not supposed to be passed down by the kids, they leave when the kid gets too old and get reassigned elsewhere.
Sooo many plots were kicked off because Timmy didn't want to lose his godparents from either a) aging out, or b) not being miserable enough to deserve them.
There's something _really weird_ about the way it's shot --- it makes me think of a stage play. Plus, everyone's wearing so much makeup, as if it was supposed to be seen from a distance; but then we see them in closeup and it looks really jarring...
