It certainly seems to me that Finalpress has delayed commercializing their product in favor of collecting more crowd sourced cash. As a result, they have opened the market to companies that have built cheap knockoffs. It seems to me that Finalpress has lost its competitive advantage.
The knockoff is indeed very low quality. I got one too. Makes gritty coffee, much worse than a french press. The plunger also has tons of space between it and the wall of the filter, which makes it more of an agitator and not a true plunger.
WARNING: There is a basic design flaw in both these coffee presses - fake and original! The plunger disc should be fitted with a silicone washer to make a close seal when it's pushed down to squeeze the brew into the cup. There are several portable french press bottles available that are fitted with a fine-mesh plunger with silicone seal. Move on everyone, nothing to see here, as they say in the movie industry
Why? The idea is to push out watter, not filter like french press. The french press have watter and coffee in the same jar, thats why you need a seal to proper filter. In this, you already trap the coffee inside the filter... no need for a seal inside a filter... Why?
@@kurogana01 Unless there is a water tight seal, small coffee grounds will escape into the finished brew - simple. A French press also has that problem, some grounds escape around the sides of the filter mesh - not good.
So do you have one of these and therefore have evidence of leaking coffee grinds into your cup? Your reasoning still makes no sense. It's my understanding after looking at one that there effectively is a seal around the plunging ROD, and that seal is a result of the tight machining tolerances. No French-Press type silicon seal needed on the plunger "disc", as was previously explained to you. This works in an entirely different way than a French Press. Again if you have one of these and can show how it has a design flaw than I'm more than willing to change my mind on the matter. @@return2earthvideochannel

Unfortunately. I agree.
Thanks for the insight, I'm eager to get my V2 Final Press. I've heard such good things about the original you have

Yes, very bad quality, I noticed that once I opened the box. 😅
@@morningcoffee1 Thankfully I can still use it for some herbs and teas. So it wasn't a total loss. Non-the-less a very expensive tea ball.
Thank you for the video

I'm not sure of the design flaws. My video aims to show the difference, though it isn't a paid video ad.
