Thank you so incredibly much for this!! I’ve felt very lost starting to figure out what everything means by reading it but the way you showed everything was honestly the most helpful tutorial I’ve seen! Thank you!!!
I’m a beginner for knitting. Thankyou for this video. I’m gonna attempt to try this and be able to read the patterns to make beautiful things. I am already a pro to crochet so I figured I could try this out
Knitting a swatch is just knitting a 4x4" square (usually) in stockinette stitch (knit one side, purl the other) and then counting how many stitches per inch you have! Most patterns will tell you the gauge (ex: 26 rows=4" meaning in the 4" swatch, there are 26 inches). It helps you know what size yarn/needle combo to use to have it fit well! Sometimes a pattern says gauge isn't important, and those are usually one size items like a scarf or a dish cloth.
I'v lost my book, which was very old. I bought a kit to make an amigurumi Bunny for my great grand baby and I have forgotten everything I learned about kniting!!! I thought I was getting a crochet instruction pattern, but Ii is a knit pattern, and the instructions are UK!!! I'm lost. Your tutorials are jogging my memory, so hopefully I will be able to finish this before Christmas!!! Thank you... I reached out to the producer of this project and they have refused to help me. It's my own fault for reading the product description correctly. I will try my best with your help. 4 mm needles were supposed to be included but are missing all I got was 3.5 mm needles.
Usually you'll see M1R or M1L, in which case the M stands for "Make" or increase a stitch. You'll also see an M with PM which means "Place Marker" of you're knitting in the round and using a stitch marker to mark your beginning of row.
Every pattern is written differently! Have you come across any abbreviations that made you go "WHOA!"??

This makes my heart happy, you're *so* welcome! ❤
