A: Silent Hill (Japanese: サイレントヒル, Hepburn: Sairento Hiru) is a horror media franchise centered on a series of survival horror video games, created by Keiichiro Toyama, developed and published by Konami. The first four video games in the series, Silent Hill, Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill 3 and Silent Hill 4: The Room, were developed by an internal group called Team Silent, a development staff within former Konami subsidiary Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo.
Silent Hill is set in the series' eponymous fictional American town. The series is heavily influenced by the literary genre of psychological horror, with its player characters being mostly "everymen"

That transition from 2 to 1 got me bursting out laughing
The piano puzzle actually would have stumped me considering any puzzle involving music would require me to remember music class in middle school and that was 14 years ago so you can imagine how well that's going to go or look up a refresher course on the Internet. Thank God for internet!
The Hanging Man puzzle gave me a complex. I thought the idea was to pull 5 out of all 6 nooses in order based on the crimes described on the note. The amount of monsters I was attacked by in a single hour was WR potential
Imagine trying to solve a puzzle when a monster enters, you get frustrated, and tell the monster to solve it then. Watch as the monster fails to do so and get their buddies to try and figure it out while you sit back and watch.
That piano puzzle got my friend rage quit because he can't solve it even after 2 weeks lmao. There was no internet back then and gaming magazine are quite expensive. That's really some of the hardest brain storming shit he ever done lmao
back in 1999 when this game was released I actually beat this puzzle by pure "brute force" I was just spamming buttons and eventually manage to beat the puzzle, I replayed the save game many times to memorize pattern, and then offered help to all my friends and colleagues who where stuck at this point, but the best part was that one day I got a random phone call at 1-2 AM in the morning I picked up and hear this really quiet voice " Hello, I heard you know how to beat silent hill Piano Puzzle", 25 years later I still got no clue who that was and how did he get my phone number. It was pretty funny and spooky at the same time

Oh man, funny story... it was, but I swapped it out!

That one had me stuck for days, until I just gave up and used a guide
the water tower prison made me give up on the game, it's just so boring
I had to use a marker on the TV screen to keep track of which room was what.
Oh man.. that’s what made me buy the guide book.
My high school required us to read a lot of Shakespeare’s works. I thought I’d never use that knowledge again in my life… until I played Silent Hill 3. YEARS later when Facebook became a thing, I actually messaged my old English teacher letting her know that, yep she was right, all this Shakespearean reading would come in handy one day.
I'm surprised so many people remember the piano puzzle as being especially difficult. It's tricky, but I found pretty much anything from SH3 to be far more difficult.

All these are really hard puzzles. Back in the days when I first played SH1 and 2, me and my friends bought magazines to resolve some of them.
Piano, Three Coins and "The Number of Pin" were the hardest for me, including by the fact that a mathematician friend of mine helped me to guess the solution for the third one, but no success hahaha 😂
The piano puzzle of SH1 is one of the best moment of gaming of all time, I didn't solve cube puzzle of SH2, it was just random test and luck, but it was good.
For SH3 I solve the puzzle in my inventory, so I was keeping those books until the end and wondering if it's going to help me in another part.
And doll puzzle of SH 4, I think it was dumb because we could just kick the wheelchair and go on with it.
And I'm hyped for playing SH3 on a hard difficulty, it seems fun:))
Puzzles in games like Silent Hill and Resident Evil make sense from the view point of adding to the mystery of these games. But personally, I’m not good at puzzles, and I just find the puzzles to severely slow down the pace of the games. Without online guides, I would have never have completed some of these games :(
Fuck the piano puzzle... My dad had to buy the strategy guide for me, just so I could finish it.
The Piano, my favorite. Me and my brother lost a few hours on this but we managed to crack it.

I am really proud that i managed to solve the piano puzzle by myself back in the day. Internet was still a rare thing at the time (at least in my country) and english is not my native language.
For me the hardest.. or rather most annoying puzzle, is the one from Silent Hill 2 where your flashlight vbreaks and you get locked in that room with the bugs.
Like what you're supposed to do is straight forward, but i was stuck on this for days because no matter how i remixed these numbers the door never unlocked, i'm already bad with numbers as it is so this one felt a bit cheap when compared to the puzzles in the rest of the game.
back in the days at 12y old I figured the piano puzzle in just a week.
yes back then games took weeks or months to figure out and beat.

Yes that piano puzzle was hard for me took me a few hours to figure it out but i got it and was proud i did with out using youtube like my little bro did lol.
thats why i allways when its possible to put puzzle on easy & still sometimes its hard for me -_-
Hardest for me was the key in SH2 the girl hits away, I saved it after that happened and played the next night forgetting she did that and I never ran to that area because it was a dead end. I spent ages trying to figure it out. Weeks went by and tried again and assumed game was glitched. So started again and then realised what I did lol

I've got some guides lying around, they're like relics now! The effort that went into just 1 puzzle was crazy
@@SilentHillside I remember my friend Alan using his computer back in the day. He used it so we could figure out the last puzzle. Alan was one of the very few folks I knew who had a computer to look up shit back then🤦🏾

I have played all Silent Hill games as of yesterday but one! I finally got a copy of the original Silent Hill game for PS1. And I stumbled against my first puzzle that made me quit and google the answer. #1 on your list, the ridiculous piano puzzle! 😅

What comes to mind:
SH2's bloody wall code (because sometimes the numbers are flat out illegible) & the rotating cube turns into trial & error.
SH3's Hard Shakespeare puzzle in early game. Crazy rough.
SH4's water prison values. Didn't really get what I was meant to do for ages.
Homecoming's directions. If you're like me - when you first grabbed the ceremonial dagger, you ran all the back to the house immediately. Nope. Needed to put it into a hole in the wall that incredibly hard to see. Shite.
PT's ending puzzle. Still don't know how folk cracked this one.

Silent Hill 3’s Brookhaven Hospital Keypad puzzle was so unforgiving, I spent hours trying to solve it
SH 3’s Brookhaven keypad riddle literally drove me nuts (SH3 is still my fave 👌)
The Devil's Pit puzzle wasn't that hard, but I almost lost my mind with the Rotating Cube...
I felt so stupid after the Devil's Pit puzzle lol I have a tendency to overthink these

The rotating cube in sh2 was one that I was pretty lucky on I just guessed and ended up getting it but that free the innocent man and the three coin one had me stumped to a point where I had to use the guide but when I saw it done it made sense
So when my SO was playing SH4 he asked for my help with the Shakespeare puzzle. I nearly screamed, after looking it up I did scream

The block puzzle is a nightmare.
The hanged men puzzle is really strange. The 1st 2 times I played sh2 i got it really well but last time i spent absolute hours on it! I dno where I went wrong!
I lowkey have a bad attention span because i overdosed & had brain damage from it.
In the end im well & healthy in every manner possible; But these puzzles are very aggrivating when you gotta remember 😅😂

I managed the shakespear when I was 7 and youngest of 3 brothers playing
I worked out the zodiac puzzle easy. I fellow the Zodiac Astronomy. I knew Cancer wasn't the 10th because that belongs to Capricorn. Turuis is the 2nd zodiac not the 4th. Then I counted the limbs and it matched up correctly
Good video. Honestly, I've been playing SH 1, 2 and 3 these last couple of weeks, and I've played them on normal combat ('cuz ain' got time for that mess) and hard puzzles, because I always enjoy a good challenge. SH 1 and 2 were hard but fun to figure out. Once I discovered each of them I could see a throughline and a proper reasoning. They were really fun despite being stuck in some of them for a good while. HOWEVER, Silent Hill 3's puzzles on hard are completly bullshit. They have no logic no throughline to reason. The crematory chamber is a mess, the shakespare one is garbage since the correct order of the books isn't even locked once you set them and the key pad on the second floor of the hospital is garbage too, since it says something like I pushed your eye socket, and it'd be obvious to assume that the first number is 1, representing the right eye. BUT NO, its 4 due to the psycho licking the blood. Why would you take into account the licking but not the PRESSING WHICH YOU ARE DOING ON THE PAD!? The only one fun and logic is the Tarot one by the end. But man, screw SH 3 Puzzles on hard.
These puzzles are even harder when the translation is BAD 😂
