Poor Alessa, not only having to deal with constant bullying at school but also dealing with a fanatic of a mother who didn’t have her well-being in mind. It’s no wonder she took out SH
She for sure had one of the saddest backstories of Silent Hill
Most of kids that getting bullied don't have attention or advice from their parents that makes them naive and targeted by others😵
She didn't took the town, the god did that .
As a kid I used to call Mumblers "Teddy bear zombies" and larval stalkers "Penguin ghosts".

It's surreal to think that I was playing this game on the same weekend The Waterboy came out. I'm so old.
But the sounds of those "children" -- along with the zombie moans from Resident Evil -- are seared in my mind. I'used to have dreams where I'd be talking with my friends before class, everything seemed normal, but then my friends would suddenly go silent, and I'd hear that moan from down the hall.
I always woke up in a panic because the sound alone was enough to startle me awake. Now that I've brought that memory up, watch those dreams begin to happen again.
And screw that piano puzzle.
When in Silent Hill NEVER enter a bathroom.

The first appearance at the start was something that creeped me out so much! You go to escape, but find the way in is sealed off. And you can do nothing but accept your fate from them... just eerie as all hell...
I remeber my 1st playthrough way back in the day with the sound coming through my Aiwa bookshelf surround system. I was like yoo wtf is goin on🤯😱
I remember playing the free demo back when it came with magazines, and being confused as hell during that gameplay...like, did I do something wrong already? Then you wake up safe with Cybil 😂

At the time, there was discussion about video game violence.
If I remember correctly this started because of horrible knife murders happened in Japan.
This had some affect on game developers that made them think a little bit on the tone of their games and what they put there.
One game that was changed someway on this topic was Resident Evil 3.
They originally planned to have more zombie action to be seen in the city, but changed this to just see small events or hear things in the background.
these small monsters still gives me the chills whenever i see them approaching from the dark
The normal school was a scary environment even before I'm attacked by the Grey Children. That the monsters are children accentuates the strange horror. SILENT HILL broke the mold of horror.
Some lovely crisp camera work of those levels! I remember seeing the grey children in the demo only to have mumblers in final release.
Its been a minute sense I played but I thought Mumblers were stronger version of the grey children
