Thank you! We just bought one and this was super informative. It looks to be in great condition but I'm not sure what/how/where to check - any tips or suggestions?

Sure - first thing I would do is to take off the back and apply some good lub to all the hubs and check to see that the belts are in good shape - you CAN get a belt kit for this unit, and the belts are fairly easy to replace if needed,. These are fairly simple projectors which makes them almost fool proof in operation - just be sure to give a nice film loop when you thread it, and it should be good to go! one other comment - if you are projecting spliced film, be sure to check your slices first as these used metal gears that could grind off sprocket holes if a splice gets stuck, etc ... but for 3 inch reels, there are usually no splices so you should be all set there - outside of that, let the bulb cool plenty before you move it, and you should be ok
