I think its because this song represents everything the series stands for in the first half. Full of hope and beautiful, with a touch of sinister. By the time you reach the second half, it was grittier and it made sense considering... Well, you know. :`)

this anime holds a very special place in my heart for me its 1 of the best animes ive ever seen it has a hell of a lot going for it the story is deep and engaging the characters are simply unforgettable and of course the absolute banger of a sound track i remember watching this many years ago i couldnt take my eyes off screen i was hooked the ending really struck a core with me on so many deep emotional levels that still gets me to this day i know there is a lot of people that dont like this anime and i get it were all different but for me im a proud fan of this masterpiece

I have watched the anime after listening to the opening several times and if you have seen Evangelion or Code Geass I don't think it is worth it, since it is a medley of both series.
@@Willicen Despite some flaws, I like Guilty Crown more than Code Geass. I thought the latter was really good overall, but Suzaku and a couple other characters made it harder for me to enjoy at a few points. I have yet to watch Evangelion, though.
