YC I been watching your stuff for months now since I'm trying a t4i I copd just to F around I didn't go to school for none of this I just went ahead and spent some money on equipment including the dslr, a lense, LED, yada yada basically the general shit to F around. Just downloaded an editing program too. It ain't as easy as it look tho.. Mann all I wanna say is I'm learning lots with ur vids and I b wondering why I haven't heard about this guy on a bigger scale cus you're unquestionably talented and Really good at filming+directing+editing+designing a whole project from beginning to end. I have Ronin-M too. Do you use a follow focus or just shoot at a high F stop?

If you watch his Vlogs he lets you know, he doesn't use any follow focus, he sets a high F and sets his distance and stays within a certain amount of feet from his subject so he doesn't lose focus.
Damn dog I'm still not getting the quality out of my Camara like this I might need to be goin to speed grade as well

In the video at 0:41 seconds when you were zooming in, was it on AF? Person seemed to be clear throughout! Not too sure if that can be achieved with MF (without adjusting focus)

he wasn't zooming in, he was moving forwards ;) deep dof here, no need for follow focus
Would speedgrade be preferable if I'm editing on FCPX?
Not sure how compatible the programs are, I don't personally use FCP
YC, I have a question...or two lol. What was your grading process here. Looks like you decreased the saturation, crushed the blacks, what else?...did you use LUT here or just color wheel grading?
It's basically just removing saturation from the overall image & greens, adding a hint of blue to the blacks and boosting the Reds a bit.
+YCImaging wow you're good with color correction then if you didn't use LUTs. I have the exact same setup as you but I have issues with sharpness sometimes because of distortion on my footage, I'm thinking it's the Metabones. You ever had that issue?
+Tony Perkins I'm decent at it, this color is very basic. What sort of distortion are you getting?
Its basically just when getting shots that are not close ups. Not sure why it happens but I have pinpointed it to either the Metabones or bad Sigma 18-35. If I have my subject in focus (focus peaking showing great) with great lighting, then the footage should be sharp. But sometimes its not.
+Tony Perkins I have the same set up and same problem I'm not bad with color grading but I don't use luts anymore I think it distort the footage quality
Hey YC, do you have any pointers on how to get a similar look using a Canon 5D mrk 3? Also do you shoot all your footage at one frame rate or do you switch back and fourth from 72fps(for slow motion) to 24fps?
Just film using cinestyle you'll probably be able to produce even better colors than this. I switch between framerates when shooting also.

My Krk speakers stopped working when I updated my Mac.. So I had to run my old mountain lion OSx on a separate hard drive just to get them back to work .. So when I turn on my main cpu the speakers don't work and premiere cc don't work on mountain lion
