Fleetwood Mac in a perfect world is: Lindsey, Stevie, Christine, John & Mick but as I’ve listened to their music and the solo albums the real magic is when Lindsey is in the mix with all of them or at least one of them.
For example, Buckingham Nicks is an amazing album and then 4 decades later Buckingham McVie is simply incredible.
His vision and drive that pushes (and I think alienates others) brings out the very best of them.

Wouldnt cross the street to see them without buckingham, be like Queen without Freddie.

Christine was NEVER a sometime songwriter, she produced more hits than any of them. What a very dismissive thing to say about her contributions to this band

+ cunard61 She had only one Big hit. That album was pretty good though. But to say she has more big hits than Stevie and Lindsey is a bit much. In FM she was a key ingredient in the vocal harmonies.

All that means is that she didn’t write every song all the time, sometimes she just played keyboard or sang back up to other peoples lyrics and nothing is wrong with that at all. It takes all of them to be Fleetwood Mac not just 1…

I personally think Fleetwood Macs albums are all great, but I somehow didn't like Mirage that much, and after the wonderful Tango In The Night the two follow-up albums were also weak. The thing is, I really consider "Say You Will" their best album together with Rumours and Tusk, because it has such a varied sound (like Tusk) and includes Lindsey Buckingham again! He is my favourite member, and he did what he already did on Tusk. He brought in a new sound which is wonderful and refreshing, and also wrote most of the songs by sacrificing a solo album for it (again). I love stevies song on there as well, better than what she had put out on her solo albums around that time. But for me, Lindseys song make the album what it is. Especially him doing some blues and hard rock again, something we only rarely saw until then. His only real "hard rock song" within FM was "I'm so afraid" and "Tango in the night", and since "Gold dust Woman", he never really did some bluesy songs. I'm sure Mick and John liked it to play some songs that sound like songs that could have also been written by Peter Green. "Come" is one of the hardest rocking songs ever! The only thing that makes it superior to Rumours and Tusk is the fact that Christine doesn't have a song on it.
