Don't feel bad; it took thousands of others with it, too.
Nah, “The world’s highest Density of popes” actually killed me, that is a high quality joke
1362 Bob it actually has 2 per square km
Rui Rojo It' 4.5 per square km ;)
Pope Francis and Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI are both living in Vatican City (0.44 square km).
Next would be Egypt with 0.000002 popes per square km.
Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria of the Coptic Orthodox Church and Pope Theodore II of Alexandria of the Eastern Orthodox Church in Africa and Madagascar.
So, before Pope Francis was elected, Rome and Alexandria had the same density of popes (0.00075 popes per square km).
mario27171 haha
I guess that the second highest would be Egypt, as the Head of Coptic Church is also called the pope, and he lives in Alexandria. That would be c.a. 0.000001 popes per square km.

Actually that's false since the Vatican doesn't even have a thousand people in it. Or maybe it does actually since it might have more tourists than citizens at any time of the year, I'm not sure.
@@FairyCRat The Burj Khalifa probably does, though
We all heard it dude
Update: Qatar now has trains! it's only a metro though. For proper intercity (if you count anything outside of Doha as a city) railroads you'll need to wait till 2026. For railroads that actually take you somewhere useful you'll have to wait for the Gulf Railway, which was originally meant to open in 2023. As of 2022 construction hasn't begun.
Yeah, they basically build a city to hold a world cup.

To be fair, I'm not sure what you would do with 1 foot of functioning rail track.
Tourism. "Come to Libya and see the world's shortest functioning railroad. Fun for the whole family!"
Ikr like people have two feet, where will they put their other foot?
Most railways use at least two rails, so with one foot of functioning rail track, you have enough rail for both feet

Does Vatican City have as much shade as this video?
it depends on what time of the day you ask. but the garden has a lot of shade do to the trees there. the main squire is sunny in the middel but shady more close to the buildings.

This is by far the sassiest video I think you've ever made. I like it.
Actually, Libya does have some 500 meters of railroad, but it is not in use. A single train that was supposed to be in Denmark, stands still on the track, it used to be guarded by armed men, but i dont know if it still is...
So, it TECHNICALLY does not have [exactly] a foot of railroad. So he is still TECHNICALLY correct xD
Yeah, he is still technically correct, just like the walking to the moon bit at 3:34
Technically correct is my favorite kind of correct.
They can keep it, the IC4s are a bit crap.
Yes this was Berlusconi giving a train made for Denmark to his mate Ghadaffi.
Like, he want a train? I got one that is not mine to give away, but that is not going to stop me. What no train tracks? but you still want it? okidoki.
And yes the trains were crap. the Netherlands bought high speed trains from the same company, and they were unreliable, and fell apart at speed. They were returned after only a few months (mostly not) in use.

I laughed so hard when he said " if you lay burj khalifa on its side, you'll be responsible for the death of thousands" xD
". . . to keep Italy from invading by train, which I guess was a concern?"
Heck yeah it was. Italy was being run by a guy named "Benito Mussolini" at the time. You might have heard of him. There were serious concerns that he might try to occupy the city. (Later the Germans occupied Rome and things got even worse.)
Mussolini was the One Who proposero the papal state
@@teseofabbri1812 Yeah, and Hitler agreed to a non-aggression pact with the Soviet Union, and look how that turned out.
The Lateran Treaty was in 1929, following years of negotiations in which Mussolini did not get everything he wanted but signed anyway. From there, Italian violations included the laws persecuting Jews, which violated the concordat when affecting Jewish-Catholic marriages. And given that Mussolini said of the treaty that "We have not resurrected the temporal power of the popes: we have buried it," I think that the Vatican was correct to think that they were being permitted existence so long as they weren't being perceived as a problem, which isn't the most comforting thought when the person on whose opinion all this rests is a violent dictator who had to make some compromises he didn't like, is already ignoring the terms when it conflicts with his domestic policies, and might want to, as Darth Vader put it, "alter the deal."

Your distance comparisons get more outrageous with each new video. Classic! :-)
Now they need planes.
It’s impossible because they can’t fit a runway cause it’s too small unless you make it larger..
Buildings everywhere in the Vatican. No space for planes ... or plaines. If they owned space, they could build an airport in space. But would it still be called an airport or rather a spaceport? I guess it depends on the altitude.
@@furaosentu or they could have a brain unlike the OP and just build a landing pad for a helicopter... takes up MUCH less space :)
Love the humor. Keep up the great work

you have the most consistently awesome youtube vids for the longest time. Keep it up wendover!
I was just thinking why did the worlds smallest country have a railway🤔thanks
🤔🤔🤔🤔
🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
On Google Maps, you can clearly see that the railroad goes into an underground tunnel in the Vatican . . . where does that go? WHERE DOES THAT GO?!?!?!?
It is a headhunt - a track siding which they placed underground due to the lack of space and available hillside. The goods trains needs to reach the other sidings so they can be unloaded, hence this provision.
Nathish -- that's what they want you to think!!! :)
To slim shady
it goes to the underground tunnel holding the real slim shady
The gateway to hell possibly?
I love it how you said "in 1929 two parties signed the Lateran Treaty, and didn't say that one of them was Mussolini :)
He was a populist and wanted to appease the catholic population and cement his support.
That is a good idea to use the train for deliveries. Other cities might consider using subway systems during non-rush hour to ship goods into city centers.
Here's a math question to ponder:
If we were to make a copy of the Earth that's the same diameter as the sun, would Solar Vatican City still be smaller that Terrestrial Russia?
Boti Gamer the radius of the sun is roughly 109 times that of earth, making its surface about 11900 bigger than earth's surface. Terestrial vaticans size is 0.44 square kms, so solar vatican is 5236 sqaure kms. Terrestrial russia is 17,098,246 sq km, 3265 times silar vatican. however a more intresting implication, every simple highrise of twenty three meters, suddenly becoming two and a half kilometers tall.in normal earth gravity we arent capable of building towers of that height currently. Under the way stronger gravity of our new earth, all our cities will immediatly collapse.
Neiv Gabay Thank you!!! I didn't expect such a brilliant answer so fast
Boti Gamer r/theydidthemath
Damn. He must be Ridddle.
Neiv Gabay every single simple highrise of 23 meters would instantly collapse under the new gravitational pull. No need for 2.5 km high buildings for that to happen.
Maybe because they like trains
Again!?!?!??!?!?
Bot
Justin Y. ..Hi Justin I see you every were dude 😂, I want to ask you something please (I am not promoting) can you give me your opinion about the content I've made and thank you 😄
Justin Y. Maybe because they don't like trains.

3:34 "You could walk from one end of the line to the other faster than you could walk to the moon."
i love your comparisons!
Firefighters and police are provided by the italian state
yes but they have the gendarmeria vaticana that is a sort of police
But does Hell have a Highway?
Isn't "the road to Hell paved with good intentions"? So there must be some sort of highway system there!! :)
Great video, as always! Two small notes: the Vatican does have its own Police force (its a kind of Gendarmerie), but the shown picture at 0:58 shows a regular Italian Police car. Italian Police help the Vatican in security activities.
I also read that the state doesn't have an airport, however, they do have a helipad which is generally used by Pope :)
The wealth disparity joke has to be the funniest shit I've ever heard
0:43 Made my day :D
wunderkind a
The Vatican is a unique country. Several of its political aspects are simple fascinating. Many people dislike the place because "HURRR, CHURCH", but in a huge amount of terms, city-states has many advantages.
Exactly. A unique kind of monarchy. The Pope leads over the entire world but not as a conventional king; and so on. I think that one can tell for a week the incredible relation between political and religious aspects - bullshitic wrong pre-concepts aside.
+Der Alte I need to find a way to use the word "bullshitic" more than I get occasion to do.
Der Alte
It's called a Theocracy and there are other theocracies in the world, like IRAN
You're not trying to compare Vatican to some savage islamic dictatorship, right? Good.

Sam. You crack me up with your dry humor. Brilliant. And we get to learn something cool to boot.
I find it funny that the Holy See has a National rail network, a micro nation by the name of the Republic of Molossia has a “national railroad “ (made up of lines with toy trains), but larger countries like Qatar and even many major American cities don’t have rail networks.
Graham Turner Nothing major, but there are usually "secret" once a week trains known as Amtrak.

You are getting more and more savage with every video haha
I love it!
You showed the Italian State Police instead of the Swiss Guards.

The Swiss Guard is the personal guard of the Pope, the police forces are the Corps of Gendarmerie of the Vatican City.
The Swiss guards aren’t police they are popes personal guards. Soo dont be offended.
