As a resident of Kirksville, Missouri, thank you for mentioning us. However, the museum of osteopathic medicine is not in the building you pictured. That is a building where you can get insurance and accupuncture. The real museum is actually in a very large and modern building and we aren't really known for it. But your point was made, we are small and so is Tuvalu. Thanks for the mention.
Alex Grimm your biggest attraction is the University if we’re being honest.
Ben Cradick very true
Same here. I'm from Potsdam, NY
Go Knights.
Hows it doing? I haven't been there since 2008. Would like to go back, but it's too remote.
You can't just drop facts like "the Vatican has a $2,000,000,000 dollar bathtub" and move on like what you just said wasn't insane.
That's "the" topic for next week?
Because its a marble bathtub, and its in Rome, so its a marble roman bathtub, and it is in the Vatican, so its a papal roman marble bathtub, and because there are so few of them, and one of them stands in a museum and is probably older than the US, its worth a lot.... i never looked up, which bathtub it is, but that's my train of thought... EDIT: it is actually an ancient imperial Roman Bathtub and is older than the US by around 1600 Years(?), it was Nero's Bathtub....
2 billion dollars dollar?
It's odd how humans put certain things in such high regard. That imperial Roman bathtub of Nero himself? Yeah, I can definitely appreciate it's historic value. It's damned near priceless. It's extremely "romantic" to fans of the Romans.
But what happens once humans are gone? It would be no more than an oddly shaped rock. Not only would it revert to its intrinsic value, all of its historical value and connections would be totally gone too, forever.
Interesting to think that we can potentially derive something concrete like &2bil worth of labor from something as intangible as a wisp of smoke.
JapanForSale things are only worth as much as how people value them. Not really the shocking revelation you’re making it out to be.
It's o.k. Tuvalu, I too am very small, very isolated, and very poor.
But you're not famous on the internet.
MrTohawk nor is Tuvalu
Girls can probably accept that you are isolated and poor. But small... my sympathies go out to you man.
Pretty much by definition girls probably won't accept that you're isolated because they probably don't know you exist. Isolation is tough (especially if you're not a country).
10%
Honestly, with a country this tiny, I'm happy they lucked into that money and now are using it to repair and make life better for their citizens
When are you gonna do a video about the Vatican's $2b bathtub?
How would they know it's worth as much? I mean, how can it have a price while it's not being sold? Money is confusing when you think about it too much.
pecu alex *probably
Marcel Lindner items can easily be valued (priced), without selling them...
Marcel Lindner
Money isn't confusing at all once you've realized that it's entire value is given to it by us - the society.
Not for exclusive items though.
And, unsurprisingly, even the ".sh" in the skillshare advertisement is from a small island territory, Saint Helena (and Ascension, and Tristan da Cunha).
Micronesia has a popular one too, with .fm
Atenfyr It used to be Saint Helena and Dependencies, and I guess I was highlighting the Saint Helena portion as it's clearly where the ".sh" comes from, even if that's a bit unfair to the other islands in the territory.
The British Ocean Overseas Territory (I think that's it) has a ".io" top level domain.
Ascension Island has it's own ccTLD, .ac
And that's where my city's government(Shanghai) got it's top-level domin? Interesting.
I worked for .TV company (which is the company that purchased the .TV domain name) on a consulting gig for a few months when they were first starting out. The most memorable was the CEO and other executives flew over to Tuvalu to give the Tuvalu their 1st payment and do a little meet/greet. The company executives mentioned that they were all sleeping at the airport as, at the time (1998 or 1999), they had no hotels or places to stay.
Please never stop making horrible jokes. They're usually the highlight of my day.
they make us feel good about ours jokes
$0.99 is $0.99 more than the previous offer.
Jazzy Josh I paid 90$ on skillshare and ,,,,I didn't watch it ...
I feel pretty privileged to have met someone from Tuvalu now, we worked together and he just loved how high the minimum wage was in New Zealand
now all you gotta do is meet someone from Kirksville, Missouri
@@chl_ca there's someone at the top of the comments list!
Holy shit, that's a buckwild way to fund your country.
You might want to look into Georgism or geoism, because it's actually the optimal way to fund a country through economic rent.
BUCKWILD
"buckwild"? I am not familiar with this word.
BUCKWILD

So, Yes Theory, a RUclips channel did a video on this country. And it is very awesome, they are extremely friendly and welcoming, and by time the three day trip was up, the dude didn't want to leave the small paradise nation. They honestly deserve more visitors per year.
To those of you who are wondering the $2,000,000,000 bathtub in Vatican is an artifact left over from ancient Rome. Some Pope didn't just decide to drop that much on a tub one day.

could this be the same deal for the Federated States of Micronesia? I also see the .fm around lots.
just think of youtu.be (RUclips's URL shortener) , Belgium's making a lot of money
You don't pay a domain more because you use it more, and registering a regular .be domain costs about 10€ per year.
Chaitanya Singh As already pointed out a domain's use doesnt make it more expensive. The thing is that small nations wont use their top level domains the way meant to be, so if someone wants them they are very expensive(or free, depends on what comes more profitable).
The Federated States of Micronesia have a GDP of about $330M, so about 10x as much as Tuvalu. If the FSM earn as much as Tuvalu does with their domain names, that'd amount to ca. 1% of their GDP.
Amy Lane If registers play naughty or the domain was sold and then bought from them of course it is another story.

2:19 You liked your own video, cheeky.
I guess it's fine when you're getting over 16,000 likes on a video.
Some call it ego, I call it confidence.
*likes own comment*
It is rather shameless..
Without liking your video, it shows you produce on a level to seek other's recognition without deceit.
If you DO like your video, it shows you produce for selfish fame and stat-padding practices.
ビクタさん No. It shows you care about your video getting to more people.
if you care about your video, then you will EARN those likes from others.
Placing them on your own video with bias is unethical because "of course you like your own video".
It is deceptive to those who judge from an unbias position.
I'm familiar with Tuvalu from that story I encountered on Reddit (actually, one of those video compilations of Reddit thread responses) about the guy from Australia who took a government contract position on Tuvalu to get away from his cheating ex-fiancee, only to discover that the person who got the other contract position offered that year... was the ex-fiancee. He ended up spending two years in a tiny office on an island in the middle of nowhere with the woman he hated so much, he tried to move halfway across the Pacific to get away from her!
can you link me this?
Isn't tuvalu also sinking?
It will never be sinking!
What are they sinking about?
Yeah, rising sea levels means that this country will sink in the bottom of the pacific ocean in a few decades along with other tiny island nations there.
Let’s nuke the land around them so that their land will raise high. All heil the Empire Of Tuvalu. 👏
Might as well nuke it
Was all that trash on that island? :(
Isolated islands have an issue with removal of trash, especially if they are poor or low lying. There's no suitable land for landfill and no recycling services that is cheap enough, so unfortunately it does tend to just pile up and eventually it is just all removed at once. Its just a product of how products are packaged unfortunately.
If consumable good were put in reusable dispensers they might be able to cut it down but it is a few years off.
where do u see trash in the vid? i legit can't find it xD
bar lupo 4:12
Its a poor area, poor areas tend to be full of trash for quite a few reasons. Combine that with the fact that its an isolated island and well there you go.
Trash washed up from the sea?
Best video yet! Seriously I've love all your tge half interstins and this one is nearly flawless. Great pacing! Intestine facts! And even the transition to skill share was so smooth I watched the whole promotion.
intestine facts?!?
Total GDP is not a great way to show if a country is poor or not. If the country somehow had a population of 320 people, the per capita GDP would be similar to Luxembourg.
altaccout he did say the fact that the country has a small population doesn't help their small gdp
Gdp doesn't equal wealth, it is a good indicator but it doesn't equal wealth!
anyways even there gdp per capita is low. 32 million dollars/10,000 = 3200 dollars per capita. Which is quite low.
I guess the pictures added with some information about the country, like people using a runway as a park, already give us an idea that it is rather poor.
According to IMF, the per Capita GDP of Tuvalu is quite low at only around $3804
Genuinely my favorite youtube channel, Thank you for teaching me things like this that schools don't

Dear animator, would it be possible to put the little asides onscreen long enough to actually read them? Backing up and pausing the video interrupts the flow. Thanks.

You run the risk of people not noticing them at all if they look away for a second.
Are you really the animator tho ? Or are you just trolling ?
MultiVigarista They're an animator, but probably not for this channel
@@robburgess4556 God forbid you be slightly inconvenienced and have to sacrifice more than 5 seconds of your life to rewind and read something that caught your interest or might be funny.
The $2B dollar bathtub is not calculated into the Vatican's GDP because GDP accounts only for the goods and services produced in one year, not the total goods owned in the country. I don't think there is an accurate GDP measurement for the country out there, and most of its $300M of yearly revenue is from donations. Its main services are tours and gift shop merchandise, so it probably does have a GDP less than Tuvalu.
nope they make more than 100.000.000$ a year just from the vatican museum entrance tickets
Fun Fact: The rare commodities of the French Southern Antarctic Lands also draw in money from its' designated domain name of .TF, as it is very commonly used for Team Fortress 2 related sites. Other funding comes from either the French government itself or international science organizations willing to fund bases for research on the Antarctic islands.
I love the sense of humor in these videos. It honestly makes me like it even more than the other channel!
I was expecting something about the Federation of Micronesia and .fm

"www" is a subdomain. It's top-level (TLD), second-level (SLD) and then subdomains (i.e. all levels under 2nd). Nobody calls it "third-level", at least not in this case.
Heyyyyyyy, be nice to Cliff Stoll. That man is amazing. Also, the amount of predictions he got RIGHT about the future of the Internet was much greater than the stuff he got wrong in that one article. He also kinda went and invented the field of cyber-forensics practically by accident.

This man gets more sponsorships in a month than dollars I get in a year.
St. Vincent and Grenadines also gets some money from their two letters Internet domain (.vc). It just so happens that vc means you in Brazilian portuguese, so yes, it can be quite useful, specially considering com means with, so com.vc means with.you.

This is a similar story to Nauru. That has .nu
Where "nu" is "now" in a bunch of languages, like Danish, Dutch, Swedish, and old English.
"when" in Albanian
"naked" in French, and Catalan
"Quick" in Polish
Though, "TV" is far more international in comparison.
Darn it, I thought for sure there was going to be a mix-up with Turkey or Turkmenistan and someone was going to accidentally donate a bunch of money to Tuvalu instead of the other countries starting with 'Tu'.
That Roast towards Missouri man... we got a School named Truman State there which is pretty popular in Kirksville
