That’s amazing.

I still have been at it man. So happy to see your posts and receive your emails. I wish I had as much growth as you!
Good on you Josh, thanks for still watching my vids and checking out my emails. I hope your singing is still going well!
I don't normally sing much but watching your videos gave me a higher vocal range that I thought I would never reach mostly because my voice is a bit deep when I speak or sing
So can i cry while recording my punk vocals?
I'm not a singer, yet this was very useful! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much, this has helped me figure out what I was doing wrong! You’re a lifesaver
U gave me a clear way on how to sing it properly! Honestly if you are experienced, anybody could do it! Practice makes perfect

Lol thanks. No problem
I've been working on this myself for a while. I luckily discovered it while trying to emulate Capstan. I can reproduce the high levels of distortion that they do but can't control it very well yet. Do you know if that will come with practice?
I do the same, Capstan is a big vocal influence for me. Over the course of a few months of practice, it gets easier to control and regulate. You get a feel for how much to push, the volume you need and so on. Its definitely a hard style to nail down because of how raw and hard it pushes you, but keep at it and you'll see the progression. 🤘
Nice exaggerations to help us understand. Nice voice too, man. Wasn't sure what'd i'd get. dig it.
i wanna learn this but i am to shy to try it...
wait, so is this inhalare la voce? does the sucking in before the breath help with the sensation of "sucking in" or "inhaling" your voice? also does raising the volume kinda undo the "dopiness"? that's what seemed to happen the louder you sang (sorry for all the questions lol I'm just trying to see if I understand this or not)
Doug, when is the time when you can apply your Ah scales, I mean when you're already able to sing in chest, modifying your vowels correctly, without going to falsetto, into actual singing. I'm struggling with it atm, sometimes I think, maybe I got it all wrong and I have to go to head voice and smooth the break lol. When did you start to sing f, f#s for the first time? And how it felt?
Usually when you train the voice, if you can only sing an F# for example on an AH it is still not enough for the voice to be able to work in songs at that pitch. You'll likely need to be able to sing the F# note on all the vowels, AH, AY, EE, OH, OO etc before the F# will appear in the songs. If it's not appearing in the songs yet, that would be the first thing I'd check. See if you can sing up to the range you want to sing in the songs in the scales on ALL the vowels first.
You can also send me a voice clip through instagram @dougzeigenbein or through email on my website, I can give you feedback on your voice. Thanks!
Awesome!
Does this work for a sound like deryck whibley of sum 41 too ? Sounds kinda different to me
Wow, I have the same exact sweater
The problem I keep getting is, when I sing I’m (British) I always sing in an American accent, I can’t find my own singing voice.
I just uploaded a video last month on how to sing without an accent on my channel!
Big chungus for you bruv!!!
oh doug i like your hair, you look like another person omfg
This helped a lot! Now every girl in our town with red flags love me.
I’m trying this style I used to only be a screamer and I’m trying out singing as well getting a little bit of throat soreness with this style how do I avoid this?
what a title song he's sing during gave an example?
is "crying sound" vocal compression, and "sound being pulled in" more nasal resonance? I'm trying to link some ideas with other videos
Hey Daniel, no I don't really consider the crying sound having anything to do with nasal resonance. To be honest, I don't really talk or teach about nasal resonance much at all.
@@Dougzed crying sound is vocal compression, though right? when I tried to feel the "sound being pulled in" I felt soft palette drop e.g. nasal resonance.
Thanks for lots of awesome videos
@@danielbrennan1231 yep the crying sound is compressing the voice that's right. If that changes the way you experience or think about nasal resonance, that's cool- it's just not the way I sort of think about my voice when I'm using the crying or compressed vocal sound. Thanks!
Hi Doug!
I was wondering if you could explain the singing Style of Greg Graffin of Bad Religion in a Video.
Thanks for your inspiring and helpful videos.
Voice style of Alex Gaskarth please
what is the song your were singing?!?!?
When I try this, my mouth/jaw (like right around the corners of my mouth and middle of my cheeks) get really sore and tense. Any tips to get rid of that?
It likely means it's really tight and you'll need to be patient with stretching it open over the coming weeks. I think you should open it enough to where it feels like you're stretching it open, but without experiencing pain. Being a bit uncomfortable for a while is normal, but don't go so far that it physically hurts
Can you please train me huhuhu
what's the song in the intro after you did the example tho
My band-
No Eden - A Life Worth Living
I wanna know joyce manor type singing
Are there some pop-punk bands vocals that are relaxed and not shouted?
Powerful vocals sort of go hand and hand with the style so I'd say most use at least a loud shouted style vocal a lot of the time. Maybe check the songs Take Me As You Please by The Story So Far or December by Neck Deep to get a sense of pop punk vocals without this louder kind of shouted sound.
@@Dougzed But in Japan, there are many Pop-Punk bands that use kawaii vocals and I like it, example : Hold out hope, story of hope, faith, and i love it
Weezer?
Am I suppose to release my stomach, when I have inhaled?
No, keep it pressurized
not a bad video but im tryna find a video on the reverse i want to have my voice to sound like the Maine or ivory if you understand. still a great video tho
