You serious? Those HP's are kinda low. you guys all need to wear helmets! and it would have really sucked if one of the guys in the rear happens to put his hands on the exhaust manifold trying to push it away so it wont slide.
+Tyler Sweat I guess that was the first Trike dyno run they done there, I hope they learned how to secure trikes after that run, or just never bothered again ?
Very poor tune and I can't believe that there were so many stupid people there willing to do that. Also the owner of that dyno should get the dyno taken away for letting this happen. So much stupid risk.
First of all....why is a trike on a dyno? Second a engine stand dyno is the proper way to test a VW motor as most industry motor builders use! Trans-axles loose very little horsepower as it is! I know many street cars from So-Cal where real-performance VW's were started, that run around 180-195hp at the crank (normally aspirated)! These are typically 2275-2332cc engines for street use with 100 RON fuel. VW's usually make way more power than that, with a singe turbo draw through system on a single DCOE Weber carb! Even with less than 2000cc running high boost rates, no intercooler on standard non-variable pitch turbos! So these guys should get the Darwin Award for their lack of safety sense!
power at the wheels... the only real way to test horsepower for a vehicle.. sure an engine stand will tell you how strong the engine is... but it wont tell you how effective it is along with the whole drive train.
not only is this thing worthless but the engineers who are testing this here contraption aren't very bright as well. A chain on a worthless ass trailer hitch that's sad, I know there are tie-down points in the floor and that things should have been jack strapped to the floor wheelspin dumbasses should have you insurance and license removed you put like 10 people in danger there.
Ya your probably rite, but for all the money you could have chosen a better power plant like an accord and came out with much much more power. I have built those style engines and all they are is a glorified lawn mower engine.
It can go way more but it's at it's safe level. I saw this at maccas bit over a year ago and have kept the pics and video on my phone ever since. The bike is a work of art and is from what I've been told is damn fast. Lets face it, it would be with that power with that little weight. Besides no point having that much power & not being able to put it to the ground. Scary point though. Front wheel up, bye bye steering. On QLD country roads. No thanks. Fast but might not kill your self.
Wow...cool machine, stupid operators. I'm no safety freak, but there was a number of just DUMB things I saw here. But besides that, I like it. I forgot how good a VW flat-four can sound. I just wonder what the hell is making the noise like a air-raid siren while the first pull is winding down. The valvetrain? It's frickin' loud, whatever it is. I'd also consider putting some mini wheelie-bars behind those exhaust pipes. I dunno if a 185HP would tip that thing, but if it DID...
@surrynet I never said people should go and do whatever they want. That's why we have controlled enviroments to do them in. I just see people complaining about this and figure they are the same people that complain about other things like Travis Pastrana shouldn't have done a double backflip, now kids all over the world are attempting it. We shouldn't stop pushing just because of the risks involved. Although it should be in as much a controlled enviroment to prevent a news story like you mention
@surrynet No, Its just most people that use that word think they are smarter then others. Look at some of the posts below and you will see what I mean. Everyone's "level" of common sense is completly different and not a very good term of "measurment". People do things that are considered "unsafe" by "others" all the time. Even yourself, if you've ever sped or not wore a seatbelt that would be viewed as unsafe by some people and its "common sense".
@surrynet Common sense? So you are smarter then everyone else because you consider yourself to have common sense? What make you think you have more common sense? Because you dont agree with this 1 thing that they are doing? I agree, probably not the safest thing to do but I'm sure they realize that also. Some people aren't truly living life unless there taking risks, who are everyone else to judge?
@stabbification ya i agree that was real intelligent and then to top it off all them holding the bike in the center if one of them tires woulda let go i think one or more of them woulda lost a body part or their life... but i was watchin sayin the same thing about that chain that was doing absolutely nothing.. i could wrapped a zip tie around it and woulda accomplished the same thing...
@xXPUN1SH3RXx I'm sure it's producing more than 190HP but there isn't enough weight on that thing for it to keep traction. Those transaxles are very good about translating the HP the wheels. A factory 71 Super Beetle with the 1 bbl carb can keep up with most of these newer cars, stock for stock. It's a simple fact that his bike doesn't weigh anything and as you can see anything more than 190HP would be suicide.
It's a nice looking trike with a lot of power. But damn! You need to be safer when doing dyno pulls. Something BAD could have happened to any one of you at any time. Ratchet straps and no one on board during the pulls. I can't believe they even let you do the pulls like that.
You'd think that, if someone were to have a dyno in their shop, they would AT LEAST have some proper tie downs... I mean, I've just seen em here on RUclips and I feel like i'm smarter than putting a freakin chain over a hitch ball... Cool rig, but a totally unsafe dyno setup...
@stabbification i like your thinking. honestly though i would be worried about the bolt holing that chain together (:48) that the ball hitch letting loose. that chain could have been wrapped better. who knows, maybe we'll see something in the future. they can only be lucky so many times right?
@stabbification really man if the engine decides to do that only safe place would be out side that dam building plus vw engines is one of the toughest engines out there so there is no worrie of these kind of engines blowing up but to the vid maker nice fucking trike
these guys must know nothing about dynos #1 rule at a dyno shop secure the vehicle a chain wrapped around the trailer hitch doesnt count, rule# 2 dont get near the dyno while some one is testing. rule #3 dont damage the customer's vehicle..........ooooooppps broke all the rules
i know this, but the rollers have resistance in them, causeing the bike to want to jump off them so it just spins, that dyno is made for cars, not for a light weight trike, trust me i know what im talking about, ive been working on nething with an engine since i could walk, im seventeen now
@stabbification I agree 100%. A chain around a ball hitch!? WTF!!! If it was unstable enough to walk right into the side of the dyno what was keeping it from popping a wheel up off a roller and shooting itself off in a spiral?
lol ! to funny! actually one of the best looking trikes ive seen! most are real lame and apear to be rushed together!an N/A 2275 is already hard to handle on a trike id love to see what a stab of the throttle at 70mph would do to that front end!
Yes, lovely. Half billion hp at the back wheels and close to no weight on the front end. Oh well, I give them credit for their ingenuity. I thought when that trike slid toward the right that it would launch.
F i'm reading this right, u only have 180 hp.i had a 59 with a 1955cc, 76 demellos, stoker h-beam, 90.5 mahle, fk-89, 1.4 rockers, 48 idf's, & I dynoed @ 190 hp.. U r doing something wrong.man. Like I said, give out up.
When it spins, get a fat guy, when it still spins, get another fat guy, when it still spins, get a fat guy to stand on the back, when it slips off to the side, get the entire team of fat guys to hold it in place.
At first I marked this as dislike since I don't care for three wheelers. then I watched the whole video and watching more and more people trying to contain this little monster was hilarious
No, I mean, clearly it will never be able to put the power on the road. If it wheel spins with all the extra weight on the wheels it will wheel spin on the road, so you can never use the full power.
From the general lack of intellect safety wise I'd have to say these clowns apprenticed at OCC. What would really make this video if the rollers seized and the safety chain let go.........
Yeah, seriously. You can't even keep a trike in place on the dyno at ONLY 180HP?? A single cargo strap would do a better job than 6 people standing on it. Someone's going to get killed.
@xXPUN1SH3RXx Eh, its not a lot sure, but consider that the engine was designed in the 30s and they are FRAGILE as shit. The turbos are more for response then anything else.
Only 190 HP with two turbos???? Please... Bad combination, Any VW with a 1800 cc or 2000cc reaches or passes of 190 HP only with gasoline and two Webers, ,
im sorry but if I only weighed in at 1100lb and made nearly 200 hp at the wheels with twin turbo I damn well better be doing more than an 11 second run
180 at the wheels they claim, I see a lot of comments about higher hp bikes but a lot of them are crank hp, I wonder how much this thing is at the crank....or do cycles not lose much hp before all the power hits the wheels? I'm not well versed in the typical conversion for bikes but this thing could be making some impressive numbers at the crank.. .still regarding the video, dangerous as hell lol
There's a reason that vehicles are strapped down in a cross pattern while on dynos, at the very least strap it down at least once...
Enough said
"If we all get on top of it" ... famous last words
i bet everything i own that this trike would make your accord look like its standing still! i can guarantee that
this trike is sic
lets see how many people can get their limbs near a dyno?
1:18 LET's get seriously injured
You serious? Those HP's are kinda low. you guys all need to wear helmets! and it would have really sucked if one of the guys in the rear happens to put his hands on the exhaust manifold trying to push it away so it wont slide.
I have never seen anyone NOT tie down the vehicle being dynoed, until now.
You went to the trouble of putting a dyno in but not having all the correct strapping available. Rolling liability.
+Tyler Sweat I guess that was the first Trike dyno run they done there, I hope they learned how to secure trikes after that run, or just never bothered again ?
+Tyler Sweat Yea omg shoddy shit there
Very poor tune and I can't believe that there were so many stupid people there willing to do that. Also the owner of that dyno should get the dyno taken away for letting this happen. So much stupid risk.
amazing all the negative comments ,mainly from people that think they know everything, but actually know jack shit...lol
hey basil we have the same name!
Careless job my friends, specially the one in front of it during the run....
First of all....why is a trike on a dyno? Second a engine stand dyno is the proper way to test a VW motor as most industry motor builders use! Trans-axles loose very little horsepower as it is! power at the wheels... the only real way to test horsepower for a vehicle.. sure an engine stand will tell you how strong the engine is... but it wont tell you how effective it is along with the whole drive train.
but also you are correct... that was not very safe...
very dangerous, careless, someone, could die due to lack of simple prep.wk ? sad . best u go play in the sand !!
not only is this thing worthless but the engineers who are testing this here contraption aren't very bright as well. A chain on a worthless ass trailer hitch that's sad, I know there are tie-down points in the floor and that things should have been jack strapped to the floor wheelspin dumbasses should have you insurance and license removed you put like 10 people in danger there.
These guys work full time at walmart service center or what
Ya your probably rite, but for all the money you could have chosen a better power plant like an accord and came out with much much more power. I have built those style engines and all they are is a glorified lawn mower engine.
@jeremino263 Yes, nm can be described as torque, like lb-ft. However, hp describes how much torque was generated over a certain period of time.
my fukcing Honda accord has almost that much HP STOCK !!!
Regardless, your bike is very cool and so are you..
It can go way more but it's at it's safe level.

yo quiero un motor asi en mi brasilia como isiseron para ponerle los Leon's Twin Turbo VW Powered Trike on the Dyno

What do they think that chain is going to do if the trike jumps the rollers?
Absolutely nothing, other than snap and decapitate the whole lot of them.
but you have to think 190 hp on a say 1500 pound chassis its like having 400hp on a 2500 pound hcassis when the boost hits the wheels will spin
@xXPUN1SH3RXx wheelspin on the dyno, it won't pick up all the ponies. you won't get somthing that lite to hook up on that type of dyno.
This video is great so many people putting their live on the line just to dyno a trike. LOL and you still didn't even get a good run.
why cant they strap it down properly?
The things that look like cherry bombs on inlet pipes; r they water intercoolers/ heat exchangers?
honestly, at type speed you won't stop at the leg, at top speed you would likely go though whole like like a carrot in a juicer.
@sombody111: Someone must've have a short memory for NOT LOOKING AT THE COMMENTS BEFORE MINES, since it was for one of them.
What a waste of money good thing you didn't blow up and coat those guys f****** boiling hot oil
Wow, you spent all kinds of money to make Liberache's trike equal what a stock Hyabusa would put out.
Gay gay and GAY!!!!
its not the hp that count, its the Nm that does.
hp is just an other unit of 'energy' like 'watt'
Nm is force, real power
180.9HP "with exhaust dragging on the rollers" lmao. So you much have mad at least 275HP if it wasn't for that. -cough-
ok dont you know what a dyno is, it spinning on rollers not the ground, it will read the speed and horsepower of the bike
I think some people were going to get killed when it came fell off that dyno. That's an accident waiting to happen
usually they ratchet strap em down, u can pull em on to rollers with about 5 tonnes of force with enough straps!
@stabbification
It was a professional atomisphere.
Just look at their shirts, they were all the same.
You think it has little power? You need to realize that the bike must weight less than 1500 pounds.
besides my triumph s4 has 100 hp so looks like he just waisted a shitload of cash!! and its stock
good thing that motor didn't explode.....lol. well if it did you would have gotten more views. ha
you did all of that...for 180hp??? you could have just turbo'd a busa engine and double that.....
Coulda just put a turbo Corvair engine in it and had 180 hp and saved a wheel barrow of money.
@fbmbmx904 twin turbos will not make any more max power then a single... just hit boost earlier
how many guys does it take to dyno a trike . without F'ing the whole thing up :/ come on..
there wasnt enough weight, it kepped spinning the wheels, he pushes way more hp then it says
wow thats piss weak. and itd weigh as much as a small house. power to weight ratio = fail!
Volunteer Scatter shields.
@proctortoad Same thought ran through my head.... hell the new 11' ZX10R has 198hp
Now let's see the 1/4 mile times with 8 people sitting on the back.
And if the engine were to blow?
That disturbing on a few levels, but damn that some crazy powere for a trike.
come on guys. get some straps
XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
Hmmm, more hp with light trike.... useless...,
180 at the wheels they claim, I see a lot of comments about higher hp bikes but a lot of them are crank hp, I wonder how much this thing is at the crank....or do cycles not lose much hp before all the power hits the wheels? I'm not well versed in the typical conversion for bikes but this thing could be making some impressive numbers at the crank.. .still regarding the video, dangerous as hell lol
My 1000cc made 211 at the crank.. 193 at the wheel.. and Its an 05 with just head, cam, and compression. .
lool i thought it was a porche engine at the back ahahaha! silly me
block the suspension so it doesnt sag and get straps on that thing
super cool man, take care of blowing an engine right behing you.
Sooo........ why are we not seeing a demo ride???
Not that I'm a expert, but that looked totally unsafe, everything about it. Chain hanging around the ball? Crazy people.
Crazy people jump from planes, these guys just stupid.
One guy, two guys, then about 14 guys. Lol sweet trike though!
Nice! But clearly it's never going to put that on the road!
haha sadly i have no bike, short on cash but thank you haha
0:14 the driver, 0:32 2 man, 0:54 3 man, 1:16 oh my god....
its got a car engine on a light weight bike, its gunna spin
Although 190 hp is not impressive... the trike looks sick :)
I was expecting like 500hp monster, what in the gods hell.
yeap, even a foot inserted between those rods
ñalskdfj
Nice trike and nice engine. But twin turbo and only 180 hp? Very low I think...
consider how light the vehicle is though, it would be much faster than a 180 hp car, they also had to keep stopping because of scraping.
I know...the trike is more light than anothers vw like a bug, bus, variant...and wins with that!
tow straps tow straps tow straps.
and a new muffler.
WTF! 5 easy steps on how to loose a body part! LOL
safety, whats that mean?accident waiting to happen.
1000 ways to die man get leg caught in dyno roler
im no expert, bu that looks like more than 180hp
what kind of transaxle and turbo are they using?
really cool very nice made!
