Love to see him play a Squier CV Telecaster...just to see what he had to say, and to see him play a guitar that most of us could afford. Of course, I could watch him play anything all day.
i was surprized at the end he picked the one he did. It looked like he was getting the most out of the `barf green` one. Maybe it was the lower action he mentioned made him play a little faster and more slippery. He made em all sound great as far as that goes.
To my ears, the 51 Nocaster is the clear winner and seems to fit perfectly to Greg Koch's playing style. His playing even seems to have more kick, if that's possible, when he's playing that one. Maybe just the more focused sound that he describes. The question is: What pickups are in there? I've seen some Nocasters with Nocaster pickups, while many others have twisted tele pickups and others with a mix. Nothing about what pickups are in that one? Also, he mentioned action affecting tone, but also pickup height relative to the strings will impact tone among other things too long to list. As far as tone wood on a solid body guitar is concerned though: I'm with Scott Grove on that one.
I have decided that after watching 100 of his videos, he is the perfect physical specimen for guitar playing: his hands are the perfect size and fingers the perfect length - neither too big nor too small.
I thought for sure he was going to go for the 55, but I see why he made the decision. I liked Greg on that 55 the most in my opinion. Killer playing as always!!
I'd like to know if Greg thinks the different "tone woods" in the guitar affect the sound of the guitar, when it is amplified like this. Does he feel or hear the difference between the rosewood and the maple fretboards ? I'm interested to hear what Greg has to say about this, because I trust his judgement.
The green sparkle sounded to me like the definition of a telecaster, but i see why you would pick a more "allround in the middle of the road" kind of tone for crossing different genre like rock, blues, jazz and country. cool stuff
A country and funk tractatus!! GREAT!! Would be useful and nice to know the signal chain and settings: which amp and pedal (compressor I guess, pretty heavily setted)
hey Greg. you don't exist! lol. man your style is impressionable, wow you should be the most famous guitarist in the word!! the way that you pick the strings, make the guitar scream, no words for describe your playability. congratulations Greg I always watch your videos... back about the guitars, in my opinion the 55 was the best one
It's always a treat watching Greg playing Telecasters.
They sound really good.
Telecaster tales from the Wildwood tone closet, I like it!
The videos you made from the Wildwood 'tone closet' were so cool. I wish that you would make some more.
From an atheist, I want to hear the guitars range not some guy showing off.
Nocaster 51 , the best tone for my taste by far ! Simply Perfect !!! Thks for this Telefest !
Those are some amazing guitars.
I'm digging the snappy rhythmic element to the green one. They all sound fantastic.
I want to thank Wildwood Guitars for keeping this Wisconsinite gainfully employed and, at the same time keeping me gainfully entertained. Thank You.
buddy lobos fender as well, he does guitar shows all year round, and hal Leonard guitar instructional books ,dvds etc.
Nice playing Greg.
Great video. It would be nice to see Greg make some more videos like this.
I like the sparkle '55 the best; that glassiness sounds sublime.
I super love that 1955 Green sparkle. And so did Greg. You can hear it in his playing when he finds one he likes. He owns a fiesta red 55 CS Tele
What a fucking outstanding player.
Yes sir...Greg is a monster.
I don't know what sex has to do with it. I would just say he's an outstanding player.
Charles Seper sex? and guitar?you don't know? tis a shame
Definitely the green one and the 4th black one have the most pleasant all around balanced tone.
The Telecaster is still the king of guitars.
I agree. It has become my favorite of all time.
Very tasty rhythm chops. Well done.
62 Custom tele for me. Crazy good video and great playing, Tone to die for.
Love the Tone Closet Shootouts!!
A masterclass of the highest quality!
Could listen to you all day sir, no matter what guitar you play.
You’ve got a great guitar shop. Those Telecasters sound great.
Wow the green one is really sounding awesome!! 👍
Love love love these caparison thingys, more more more please.
Best Tele demo ever.....really!
I like the green one...has loads of spank...they all sound great with Greg playing them.
The '51 nocaster is by far the best sounding. Has that punchiness without being overwhelming, and just the right amount of glass.
You're right !
Amazing playing 💫
Met this man last year, what an honour. True gentleman, true talent. Amazing human being. Amazing inspiration.
Spacemutha over here? or over there? just wondering
Utterly outstanding playing and tone, Greg!
HOW could someone be so good at guitar?
Just look at his fingers. And pay attention to BOTH hands. His smarts help but his reach and dexterity are to kill for.
practice
Being driven is the key, methinks.
Incredible talent.
Practice, Practice , Practice
In every Coch playing video, he does sompthin amazing, like this lick at 2:26
the rake...
Great "...casters" but even greater licks!!! Outstanding licks which underlined every tone character of each guitar! Great Greg!
very nice
Next time I'll buy a guitar, I will take Greg with me.
Just give $20k and see what he comes back with:-)
@@tomjones2348 :D

I'm digging the sounds of that green one. Can I order a set of those pickups?
This is what you sound like when you have been sleeping with your telecaster since the age of thirteen. Just amazing.
The best comparison video ever! Greg does it all!!!!
Fender Custom Shop guitars are the gold standard of guitars.
'51 Nocaster steals this one.
No caster everytime , come on its the perfect twangy guitar of all time
@@imannonymous7707 Also the '61 shines in this video, but I still love my '51 Nocaster NOS more! ;)
me too
Beautiful soloing!!
Amazing playing, amazing guitars! Thanks for the demo
damn Mr Koch you are one sick and gnarly telemaster
i was surprized at the end he picked the one he did. It looked like he was getting the most out of the `barf green` one. Maybe it was the lower action he mentioned made him play a little faster and more slippery. He made em all sound great as far as that goes.
Tele's are the best....So percussive sound.....and great playing!
I kindly agree although I love the black one too

This demo format with a number of guitars at once is really nice
I like that tele with the binding
Do some instructional videos. Love your playing. I DIG IT!!!
Go to Greg's, website. He has some.
The 62 seemed to make you play a little bit more focused and blues orientated. It sounded fantastic, my pick too.
Nocaster for me as well

I liked the Nocaster

Geeze put him on toothbrush then
Best Telly Soundcheck ever!!!
nocaster!!
Balanced and got a wide range.
So sweet!
I agree, Greg. While the Nocaster was awesome, the ‘62 wrapped the best package! Great playing!
I thought for sure he was going to go for the 55, but I see why he made the decision. I liked Greg on that 55 the most in my opinion. Killer playing as always!!
As soon as you picked up the 62, to me it sounded like it had a better tone and fuller. Glad to hear you agreed with my ears at the end Greg ; )
Have you ever tried OC Duff Pickups? They sound awesome!
Damn !! Greg always amazes me ! What a guitar player !
the barf green one sounded best.
Sunshine Winter Fuck yeah it did. The underwound pickups had so much character.
+Dweebenheim the all have underwood pickups
Agree
Barf Green?...I don't know what you've been eating.
For funk...?
It's the nocaster for me
same here....
reffoelcnu alouncelal yeah, thought so, too. but I admit I also liked the black one...
yep its an all rounder with loads of bottom end...cool
I agree on the sunburst - soulful
Sweet sounds.I'll take 1 of each please. ;)
What’s with the thumbs down? Absurd. Great process, Greg.
Could listen to Greg play all day....whatever guitar he has in his lap.
Immediately I thought the custom sounded best even before the end of the video. Fuller & still has that glassy top end.
55 & 62 , good playing too
what an amazing player!
Squishy and delish, love it😆
nice UNDERWOUND Goodness....great Greg n da Grizzle.
The green sparkle sounded to me like the definition of a telecaster, but i see why you would pick a more "allround in the middle of the road" kind of tone for crossing different genre like rock, blues, jazz and country. cool stuff
Love the tones coming from this room setup!
Absolutely. The setup in the other studio makes all the guitars sound kinda flat. I much prefer this.
I thought the audio sounded fairly lifeless.
No can play a Telecaster like Greg Koch can.
A country and funk tractatus!! GREAT!! Would be useful and nice to know the signal chain and settings: which amp and pedal (compressor I guess, pretty heavily setted)
Greg you are a monster, that nocaster was doing it for me must say.
Some of the best feel I've seen.
I really like how Greg adjusts his playing to the sound character of each guitar.
What’s the song he is playing at 6:29?
you playing is great
Yep. The 51 does it for me
freakin love the sound of teles
Wow! Your almost good enough to go to Nashville!
hey Greg. you don't exist! lol. man your style is impressionable, wow you should be the most famous guitarist in the word!! the way that you pick the strings, make the guitar scream, no words for describe your playability. congratulations Greg I always watch your videos...
back about the guitars, in my opinion the 55 was the best one
I guess I'll go plink around on my new Tele Elite, only with v-mods instead of the noiseless. ( sigh ) The sparkly green was the one.
I'm digging that '62 (5:30)
roknfnrol that double stop bend at 5:34 ...
Greg has such monster chops that I had to slow this down!
The 62 custom with a big neck . "Killin me bro" !!! One day man
Did we get the strat comparison video yet guys. That would be v. Nice
Damned this dude.. I am not a "tele guy" per se, just starting down that path a bit but my ear gravitated towards the one he chose in the end.
the '55 is amazing.....what a sound!!!
Great picking and tones... wish I knew what kind of amp was he playing through?
Hangfire-13 freidman of some make ,but a freidman
