Hi Folks ! I was lucky enough to be a demo guitarist several years at the Music Messe in Germany and had the privilege of meeting the great Greg Koch. This man is a Gentleman, Incredible Musician and Guitarist and also a 100% professional exemple of what a working musician should be. A true inspiration!!! Greg you are the man , thanks for all the tricks and licks you show us in all your videos. It comes natural and I guess for the love of music and guitar. Keep on 👍. By the way you were demoing the Fishman pickups in 2014 at the Music Messe and I was next booth around demoing a Swiss stainless steal guitar... it was a honor to have you around... 😉👍
Greg said something one time that made me start playing differently and I have become a much better player since then. It was something to the affect of; Most of being good at the guitar is just messing up better. He said, in practice, he would intentionally try and play wrong notes or mess himself up and find the most creative way to get out of it and back on track to what he was playing. That has helped me so much and has made my playing much more creative and unique to me.
Very tasteful guitarist who can match anyone, can fit in any ware , this guy rocks in country blues and anything comes his way , knows all the tricks of the playing trade , great to learn from him , always pick up something new from him , the little old player I am 👍
I always knew Tele's for country but what sold me on it's rock cred's, along blues and funk was Richie Kotzen. Great video.. really showcases how versatile and unique Tele's are/can be.
i have tried them all through the years, and a simple basic tele is most fun i think... the no thrills makes you concentrate on just playing...and string attack etc.... no distractions just make music like in the day of our heroes we try to emulate to this day that had just basic gear..... also love greggs enthusiasm....
The older I get the more I get why guitarists chose the Tele. Its so simple yet versatile. Greg Koch is a master player, John 5 is another incredible Tele slinger.
DOWN HERE IN NEW ORLEANS WE WOULD ,IN THE GUITAR WORLD ,REFER TO YOU AS ONE HELL OF A BOWL OF GUMBO,A COMBO OF CHET AKINS ,DANNY GATTON,JERRY REED ,ROY CLARK, AND SO ON,ALWAYS ENJOY YOUR DEMOS,AND PREFORMANCES.
The more time goes on, and i continue to play teles more and more, im starting to really enjoy the guitar!...im a les paul style dude, but im liking these teles man!....your playing ia awesome greg...you could take joe banamasas place any day
Hiya Greg, You're amazing. Love everything you do. Question: I just got a Telecaster Performer and I'm a bit bugged by the close distance between the pickup switch and the volume knob. Do you suggest any mods (I've seen lots of suggestions) or just suck it up and get used to it?
Greg with so many Telecasters to chose from, which is a good one to pick for a first time Telecaster owner? I have been wanting to get one, but they have made a number of different models. Thanks John
My personal favorite is my AVRI ‘52 Telecaster. They’ve been discontinued and replaced with the American Original ‘50s tele with a more modern and flatter 9.5” radius than the 52’s 7.25” radius. The newer one still has the excellent sounding flat pole piece bridge pickup which is the best to my ears. For the money, you can buy a Mexican made Vintera ‘50s model or a Squier classic vibe ‘50s with similar specs. Otherwise, I would recommend with a Mexican player series Telecaster, or an American Performer telecaster, or even an American Pro if you can afford it if you want something simple. Those 3 I just listed are the best when it comes to a standard spec telecaster. It’s hard to go wrong with any Fender Telecaster though. They make good ones in pretty much any price range.
Greg is a mythological figure: half man, half Tele.
A Telecastaur, if you will.
Roy Buchanan's silly younger brother.
teletaur
Half man, half tele, half gristle

The Sasquach of swing
He knows all the chords
He's got a day time job, he's doing alright

I don't want that one, he bent the neck 😂😂😂
Greg is a guitar player that most players should strive to become. He so versatile and, most importantly, musical!

That has helped me so much and has made my playing much more creative and unique to me.
That is a jazz head thing. I know Miles said thus.
Greg + Tele = AWESOME!!
Best player on the planet.
Love Gregs playing. Instantly recognizable. ♫

Big fan of the Tele. Country, rock, blues no problem. The Tele handles any genre.

I don't have tele, but your taste in tele sounds like a whip up for me to keep playing and keep learning, Greg. Regards!

Every time I see a photo of Mike Bloofield, Robben Ford or Greg with a yellow tele, I want to paint mine. Of course...the tone is in the color.
I like the sound of blue Teles, myself... but the yellow ones are really sweet, too! 😬
Oh my !
Gold...Thank You.

5:21 What on Earth is that beautiful limited edition? Just bought a Tele but that might give me an excuse for another.
Looks like George Harrison's all Rosewood Tele!
Yep , all Rosewood like George's!
Love Greg Koch on a tele.
I have the Stevie Ray lessons by Greg and he's a great teacher . I'm a poor student .
We - neigh the world - needs a John 5 / Greg Koch collab.
That refi ‘59 top loader is the Gristle
Amazing how much difference that 5% increase on the gristlemaster makes it much more proportioned than a traditional tele
Christ what a player
Tele Monster
1:35 “I don’t want that one, you bent the neck” 🤣😂
Some guitars you sleep with and then there is the one you marry....thats the Telecaster!
has anyone on earth been able to play as many juicy electric guitars?...I think not...and he's still young...
Wildkoch the wildebeest, tellin' the tele what time it is..... time to Koch around the Clock.
Can we please get a side closeup of Greg's right hand when he's doing that 'Travis pickin' thang??
Greg is a Monster in Guitarplayin
Im waiting to Greg vs stratocaster 😁😍
The Gristle Missile!!
You sound the best on a les Paul
Hi Greg, you are an amazing guitarist, I love your sound. I'm about to buy a Koch Twintone II (112), would you recommend it for the '50s Telecaster?
3:44 was he playing with telecaster american performer?
Tele is my #1, with a good Les Paul at a close 2nd
How did Fender let this guy get away?

Hiya Greg, You're amazing. Love everything you do. Question: I just got a Telecaster Performer and I'm a bit bugged by the close distance between the pickup switch and the volume knob. Do you suggest any mods (I've seen lots of suggestions) or just suck it up and get used to it?
The real question is to buy butterscotch blonde maple or polar white maple...
Hey Greg, are you familiar with David K Wilcox
He is one hell of a telecaster player
If I bought a tele, could I play like Greg🤪
YIKES
Greg with so many Telecasters to chose from, which is a good one to pick for a first time Telecaster owner? I have been wanting to get one, but they have made a number of different models. Thanks John
If you’re looking for an economy model checkout the Squier Affinity Tele with Maple Rock

the tele looks soooo small on im hahaha
6:30 eyes closed i might've thought it was a strat's neck pu!
I don't want that one......he bent the neck. Made me laugh out loud by myself! Thanks Greg.
2:25 what in holy heck did he just do to that guitar to make it squeal like that? A volume swell, bridge bend, harmonic gooch pick?
To me Tele is another perfect musical instrument design besides the p bass. You can use any kind of pickup and they still sound right
What the FUCK did I just watch from 2:22-2:40?! Koch is a fucking god man jesus........
Niiice! What amps is he using for those really aggressive tones? Friedman? What mode is it?
Gary Ford he has his own amp, his name Greg Koch Combo
He was playing a Friedman for awhile and it sounded horrible.
@@kitano0: Yep, that Smallbox sounded terrible.
"VS"??? I've always seen it as a symbiotic relationship. Kinda like Butch & Sundance, Bonnie & Clyde, Igor & Frankenstein...
I wonder what the 13 persons that hit "dislike" actually didn’t like. Teles? Koch’s playing? His talking? Or the lack of EMGs and Floyd Rose?
I hated teles all my teenage years.
Now i have 4. Lol
Gristle all in my toooofus
Raja Gitar jaman now..
it's the fecking library of alexandria of the liks inside a man
