Greg Koch has the best personality in the business and his skills with the guitar are even better, a true master with a guitar in his hands. I'd like to know if Greg is willing to adopt me. BTW, Wildwood, you are so blessed to have Greg do these video's and however much you are paying him is certainly not enough.
I'd just love to hear an edited audio (or video) take of just Greg's best-of-his-best licks from the Wildwood demos, his absolutely smokin-est licks each perfectly dovetailed into the next for one VERY long track, like an hour straight! ...heaven
I happened to come across this video because a friend of mine introduced me to Greg Koch last night when I spoke to him after his set asking him about his influences. He really wasn’t joking when he said he was good. He’d give Dan Aurbach a real good run for his money for sure. I’m beyond impressed.
All hail the strat. Best guitar ever! In my opinion of course... Much love to rics, gretsches, gibsons that haven't broken yet lol, and teles/jags/stangs/jazz etc... It's all how you feel that day which makes the best instrument ever : )
something about the high e and b being strung on the short side of the headstock gives those strings more body and bite. reversing the headstock on a strat is a definite improvement.
Greg = Epic. We knew that. What really comes across in this mashups is what the comments section said for years, that Friedman amp totally made everything sound the same, which is the antithesis of selling unique instruments.
David Blue Yes it does definitely, and especially ‘55 or ‘56. Those are my favorite Strats. I like the puke green looking two-tone from those years. ‘54 has a bit more reddish brown hues with grain.
Love my Strats but volume pot position was badly designed. Especially for modern guitarist. Look how far forward of the bridge Greg has to play. Most versatile sound wise though.
No offense to the stuff you're playing now Greg, but in my humble opinion you should only ever play stock Strats, Tele's, or Les Pauls. Glorious and the "new" stuff is close, but not enough. I have the Wildwood demos on continuous play in my office and your LP and Tele shootouts are epic.
JD Simo fell apart against Greg but the pink Whitfill strat Greg was playing held up. What ya'll think of Whitfill guitars? I am a Navigator man myself for strats. To me they blow away everything except actual vintage. I have played 64' and 58' and to me the Navigator is so much closer to those than the new Fenders are. IDK they dry the woods or use better woods in Japan in the 80s' and 90's who knows.
Wow he looks so much better after his weight loss! You can tell he even has more swagger with his svelte new physique and Mike Nesmith toboggan to cover his bald palette.
He's about 6'6". I made the mistake of getting front row for one of his shows and went home with a sore neck from looking up! No kidding! Great show. See him live if you get the chance.
I have a vintage start just like some of these,,,,,,,,,,,,but it don't sound the same. Maybe I should just ask for my money back and give up guitar altogether. Sigh ..........
@@DoodlesHD719 O-K. Which Strat model and year? I had a Jeff Beck Olympic White one a few years ago and it would not stay in tune, so I took it back to the music store. Got an Ibanez Steve Vai Signature Gem77 'Woody' instead. Good choice.
@@skateborg IMO model and year doesn't matter, it's the feel and tone. I have an old MIM Strat so heavily modded the only thing original is the bridge and saddles. All the GOATs Strat and Tele at some point.
@@skateborg Both great guitars! My '95 Strat plus is virtually identical to the Jeff Beck and stays in tune remarkably well. The Steve Vai definitely has a more substantial bridge which may be less susceptible to stability issues. My Tele is mim with a few minor upgrades and it rivals guitars costing twice what I spent. Yeehaa!
ok man but be serious you play 10000 times more technical than hendrix , but you are not handsome like hendrix ! lol sorry ! that's not just a question of music ! at this times the lovely hippies chicken love handsome men ! but dont be humble ...you didnt wrote the songs ok , but ! you are farther than jimi but its normal ! ok you wont be a star but i guess you have a good life playin music !
Greg's playing is on a level that few guitarists ever attain.
Because most of us get complacent with the minor pentatonic scale.
@@nathanglass512 felt that one personally lol
A terrifying beast of a player and hilarious to boot! I love listening to Greg play and talk about guitars.

3:02 euh euh , technical term....
I know right? Greg is the best "guitar demo" guy I've run across on the youtube - outstanding!
I'd just love to hear an edited audio (or video) take of just Greg's best-of-his-best licks from the Wildwood demos, his absolutely smokin-est licks each perfectly dovetailed into the next for one VERY long track, like an hour straight! ...heaven
Fantastic playing Greg, just amazing. Thank you!!
Half a century later, Jimi's still here. Thanks, Greg!

Fender needs to give Greg his own Custom Shop guitar.
Yeah, we think that because we're geeks.
Check out his Reverend signature! I think it's called the gristlemaster or something. Cool tele style
Well ruin my day
Love your screen name, when I first looked I thought it said Hillary for incineration 😂 "that'd work too" how is that woman NOT incarcerated ???????
He had both a Strat and Tele Signature Custom Shop models from Fender many years ago (90's).
Greg should have his own country! Id live there.
“All manner of frolicking behind the nut” best line ever 😆
Everything you guys played through these Tone King imperials sounded fabulous
@ 5:03 & 5am, that had me singin'.. Really nice tones indeed... Thank you for sharing this... 😉 💜 🍀 👻 🎶
4:50 My god, the tone ... the funk ... the SPANK!!

Neck pickup on the Monterey Strat - bloody perfect
Love it! Haven't seen you since my Days at Fender. Hope You're Well, Greg. 🎩
5:03 love that funky riff
It’s Wait Until Tomorrow by Jimi Hendrix

Higher tension strings are better suited to be shorter and visa versa. It's physics, I wish the guitar world caught up.
Any idea what greg is playing at 2:25?
Message to Love by Jimi
The vintage ones that he played sound sooooo much better than the new ones 🤌
Classic battle, man VS machine ... I am putting my money on Greg ... if he can beat a Telecaster onto submission, a Strat should be cake
Greg = Epic.

Greg Koch vs. anything, I’m picking Greg. RIP Strat
I think Greg would disagree. Hear me out... He bows down to the strat and its glorious power! Admit it lol... We all do...
Greg Koch: probably the best player of our time.
Purple sparkle is cool.
Or MANgenta - as the case may be! 🤚 Violet tone-hues abound in this magnificent specimen.
I think it looks like a paddle boat.
Hahaha.
Scotty `54 rules

Wow, that was wild, and how he knew I am in my pyjamas?
frabber everybody knows your in your pajamas
Great stuff
this guy is hilarious and a phenomenal player
man this friggin guy smokes!
btw: 4:36 what type of neck profile is he talking about?
That dark pink glitter fender is cool. stands out
That purple sparkle strat!!!!
Ron Burgundy drops the jazz flute for ROCK
What a glorious beast
So much fun watching these...what a cool cat! But, also reminds me of how much I hated that Friedman!
Greg Koch is not of this world...amazing funny and humble guy!!!
Greg is The Rocker Man👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Koch + Strat = welcome to the Twangfest. And yes, we dig it.
Love my Strats but volume pot position was badly designed. Especially for modern guitarist. Look how far forward of the bridge Greg has to play. Most versatile sound wise though.
When you've mastered you craft. The GRISTLEMASTER himself.
Greg plays Hendrix better than anybody I've ever heard. He should do a covers album.
Totally agree, he is the incarnation of Jimmy-ism
Где можно послушать этого замечательного гитариста? Так, чтобы законченные композиции были, а не наброски? классная техника!

How can I become as good as you bro? I been playing 6 years and practice every day
Anyone else listen to these videos for the playing and not for the review?
Best tv on tv right here
the charlie vargas of guitardom...just brilliant
This dude has more chops than a slap-chop
Hes so big that he makes all his strats look like toys
Greg once again is High on Tone , Gain , Hendrix , Strats , Yippity Yappity
Hi high hi
Gonna shred these licks til the day I die...
Around that corner is a hidden cave, where we can watch those cherokees go scuttling by”
Out of all the people to cover Jimi songs, Greg sounds the most like Jimi out of all of them. It's the hands.
Perhaps. There is also that guy from the chili peppers... Just saying... 1970 man... Death and birth of a legend...
Well Jimi died half a year after John Frusciante was born, so it's unlikely they are the same person reincarnated.
Jacob Lewis pine vs Ash strat vs Gibson
You should check out him doing Little Wing live - it's on RUclips so it's easy to find. Amazing, especially towards the end of the song.

How did you know I was in my pajamas...😂😅
Hey Greg you are the Guy!!!
ok
the oinky, pingy strat sounds good in this guy's mitts
Greg Koch what a treasure..

Robust neckage. Great phrase!
Is he 7 feet tall?
A strat looks like a 3/4 size child's guitar in his hands.
He's about 6'6". I made the mistake of getting front row for one of his shows and went home with a sore neck from looking up! No kidding! Great show. See him live if you get the chance.
He's 6'7"
Greg plays a Strat like no other.
Alien noises at 1:39
Best guitar player in the universe
I miss the wildwood lickery
Greg is a fine guitarist

A strat cannon ... kaboom!

This kinda made me wanna Strat. Yeah. I said that.
Every guitar player should own a Strat or Tele.

Strat guru
STRAT CANNON
If Jesus played guitar, he would play a Strat.
aRe you still waiting on Pam an kathy?
Where is Silversky? Jk.
Talks nearly as well as he plays... Nearly!
Greg makes me want to quit playing guitar
Bunch of show-offs,.....how come he's not playing with Eric Clapton or someone,....????
There is a RUclips video showing Greg playing guitar on stage with Joe Bonamassa
Dude… your strings… they’re all bent!!!
GREG for the win!!!!
how you made these stats sound so bad is inexplicable

Fender needs to give Greg Koch the boot. He is a showboat spewing arrogance.
great player. not as funny as he thinks he is though.... actually pretty annoying tbh. as zappa said, SHUT UP AND PLAY YER GUITAR
