  • After two previous cancellations due to inclement weather, the world's largest twin-engine jetliner finally took to the skies today from runway 34L, at Paine Field in Everett, Washington. The 777-9X is 251 feet 9 inches in length, with a wingspan of 235 feet, 6 inches, and will seat up to 426 passengers, with a range of 7,285 nautical miles.

    never thought the engine sound would be deeper than the 787 one

      Acoustic liners and a scalloped trailing edge (called chevrons) used on the 787 engine nacelles are very effective noise suppressors. This first 777-9X utilizes the more traditional nacelle design to house it's massive GE9X engines.
