Congrats, as someone who had tons of grad school loan debt, you made a great decision! Some people get too lured by the big names to think clearly. Not that Duke is anything to scoff at. Many students would kill to get there and you got a full ride and a very challenging field. I am a graduate of UIUC engineering and proud to see a charismatic and smart woman go into an engineering major.

Hi, this is such a great question! I myself was confused by this for a while, but essentially Early Decision (ED) and Early Action (EA) are two different options. Early Action doesn't bind you to that school, it simply allows you to hear back earlier in the application season. Early Decision binds you to the particular school and requires that you pull out of your other applications, but it typically has a higher acceptance rate as a benefit. I ended up applying EA to a lot of schools and decided not to do an ED. Hope that clears it up!

Most regular decision applications are due in early January! I would check the deadlines for each school.

For some I applied myself and for some the school selected me to apply! Trinity for Duke was the latter…hope that helps!
