I say this as someone attending Yale. While I’m loath to admit it, I recommend you go with Stanford. Don’t get me wrong, I love it here, but you can’t beat that California weather!
Stanford > everyone else. I know a few people that graduated from Yale and they all shared that its career services were weak. From an exit ops perspective, Stanford easily.
Congrats! You deserve it and handled your rejections REALLY well! Can you do a STATS video where you talk about things like that? I’m subscribed, love you!
ahhh i smiled sm watching you get into stanford and harvard, watching you cry made me tear up 😭CONGRATS!! And I wish you the best for wherever you commit to 💗
You didn't get rejected by those colleges. They just know with your academic credentials and curriculars, you'll have offers from more exclusive colleges and therefore they prefer to keep a vacancy for others who might not have the same opportunities as you.
hi helaine, not sure how i found this channel since i'm 28 and university is a ways behind me now, but beyond your academic and ec achievements i hope to have a daughter one day who has your positive outlook on life and determination. i hope you know how lucky you are to have (what appears to me!) such a supportive family network. keep it moving, enjoy harvard! ❤️
Congratulations on your acceptance to MIT/Harvard/Yale/Cambridge.. That's an incredible achievement and a testament to your hard work and dedication .You have some great eca's😊...best of luck 🎉
Congratulations on getting into Stanford and Harvard! Both schools are fabulous! I went to Harvard for undergrad and had a fabulous experience and then went to Stanford and got an MBA. Both are fabulous choices!
Thank you so much!! Just wondering if you can share your experience on both schools and maybe which you liked more since I’m having trouble choosing 😅 thank you’
Girl great job! You literally got into my like 4 of my dream colleges/universities. I mean I'm only in 8th grade but hey it's not bad to have big dreams... right? lol I'm sure you'll do great and I know that whatever decision you make for your college will go great. Keep up the great work!!
Omg you’re so inspiring to me and many watching! I have a few years till college and seeing you getting into all these great colleges makes me excited!! Lysm and your loving fam!!
congrats! I love hearing stories of applicants that have attracted attention of admission officers! If possible, could you please your essays! Congrats again!
I feel like after opening a bunch of the college decisions you can kind of tell where you're going to get accepted and where you're going to get deferred/rejected/waitlisted. I think it's partly because colleges kind of know which schools would fit you best, where you'd be happy, where you would thrive the most, etc.
Definitely some bias from me as I am wrapping up my first year at Stanford, but Stanford really is your best option. This place is AMAZING. Academically, they are on par, maybe even better, than all the Ivy league schools, but it is the weather that puts it on top. I know the weather shouldn't seem like an important factor, but trust me it is. I find myself to be far more productive and just feel better when it's sunny outside. With all the stress and work that an elite college education will bring, it definitely helps to be in sunny California!
I say choose the school that has the best program that suits your major. Also consider which school you may want to attend for grad school. For stem, definitely MIT. For arts, I would choose Stanford or Yale. Harvard would be best for law or medicine.
Based on your comments, it seems like you are deciding between Stanford and Harvard. I would advise to visit the campuses if you can afford to, to see which one feels like home to you. When I visited Berkeley I thought I’d love it, but I hated the campus and how overcrowded/overenrolled it was. Also, think about where you would be happier, the architecture, the weather. Both schools are virtually the same in prestige. I’ve heard you can make connections with outstanding people at Stanford that can help in your career, and Harvard has the name recognition. Also, think about your major and where it is better. If you’re doing CS/tech, Stanford is better, etc. I would consider all these things, not just name recognition. Also, wanted to please request a video on some of your advice and tips, excluding jyst stats. As a transfer applicant, that would be super helpful!! Thanks and congrats!!
wow congrats on all your acceptances!! ty for sharing your reactions. i’m a hs freshman right now (class of ‘27) and my dream is to get into an ivy league, or any top college really. do you have any advice on what students can do to be a competitive applicant? and is there a part of your application that you feel was especially strong? or is there anything you wish you did earlier in your high school career? sorry for all the questions haha, congratulations on ur acceptances again!!
just fyi trying to gear your whole life towards getting into an ivy league of any top school is setting yourself up for disappointment. You definitely can get in, especially since you are a freshman but unless you have rich parents or have a really good story nothing is guaranteed (even with those things it's still not). and having the attitude of only wanting to go to a "top school" is not very healthy, the top schools are only toip because they conform to standards set by institutions like us news. For example northeastern was not a "top school" until (I think it was a new president) gamed the us news rankings, then all of a sudden people marvel at how good of a school it is but in actuality nothing changed. I use to have the same mindset of ivy or nothing but it only sets you up for disappointment, you can still get into a "top school" but I would make sure you think about if the school is actually a good fit for you not just the name. But to answer your question if you want to get into a top college they want to see a clear spike in what you do through your highschool career, so if you want to major is like computer science they like to see you have done activities shaped around that subject. You should have as a baseline good grades, good test scores (some of the median sat scores at the top schools can be like 1540), and then good ec's. some really good ec (extracurriculars) are international competitions as they compare you to other students from around the country/world and can't be infalted liek your GPA. Just some advice I would try really hard on the PSAT and become a national merit scholarship finalist its a good award to put down. also make sure to utilize the chances given to you, if your school offers 5 ap's take all 5. College admissions is suppose to be a holistic process where you are rated based on the opportunities you had to schools like to see that you used all the chances you were given. If you have the ability to I would get a good college advisor as they can help you with a lot of stuff and give you a leg up on admissions. lastly remember that nothing is guaranteed, Ive seen people with crazy stats, ec's, and stories not get into the top schools it really is a game and is almost fruitless to devote your life to. Good luck
