I really hate answering this question with a one word answer. Imo, everything about the show and the reception is weird, unlike any other show. So I'll put it like this. For the animation? No no and NO. For the story? Kinda... I started reading the LN midway through season 2 as it was airing because it was intriguing and I knew the anime was missing stuff. It's in my top 2 LN. Though there's love for the show, I'm not gonna argue with someone if they think it's bad. Despite that, there is a rather big anime-only following because of the story. I hope that provides clarity.
