Thank you! I honestly love this bass and couldn't find many thorough reviews at the time I was looking for one, so I figured I should make one for other people. I really appreciate your kind words!
Thanks! I'd love to check out one with a Rosewood board too. I was thinking the other day that it would make a mean fretless as well! Thanks for checking out the video!
Nice! I'm digging that blue and white pearl pickguard...I would have added pearl block inlays and tinted the neck. Love that finger tone!! It's definitely making a good argument over the JB5. I own 2 L2000s (fretted/fretless) and the LB100, all USA. G&L is such an underrated company.
Thanks! Block inlays would look great. I have not played a JB5. Sounds like a great collection! I agree they are underrated 100%. I'm a big fan these days. Wish I would have discovered them for myself sooner. I want to check out that new Fallout short scale.
Would have loved to hear this bass with fresh / non-flatwound strings. A review with dull sounding strings and no sustain alone does not give the sound of the bass respect, I think😊
I have not played the L 1000 750 5, but, based on the specs, the Kiloton definitely has closer spacing. Looks like you get the passive bass control on the L1000 as well. I imagine the sound would be slightly more bass-y on the L1000 based on the position of the pickup. If I were in the market and preferred the wider spacing, seems like the L1000 would be the way to go. I imagine the parallel mode on there would sit extremely well in any mix and the series would sound huge. I really prefer the narrower spacing not the Kiloton to some of the wider and narrower basses I've played (wider spaced Lakland 5 string was my go to for many years). Definitely depends on the player and personal preference. Thanks for the comment. Now I want one of those too!
Regarding the series setting, you mentioned it getting lost a bit in the mix. Were you referencing only finger-style playing on that setting? I ask because with the plectrum it sounded very strident and punchy. I appreciate your response in advance.
Absolutely. After playing this as my main live bass for a couple years now, I find that I mostly use parallel for fingers and slap, usually adding a little low end during eq. Series for pick all the way, I just roll back the master volume about 15-20% to much volume. I use it for fingers on occasion as well. Single coil with tone rolled off for super old school sounds. It's been a tremendous workhorse for me. Apologies for the crazy delayed response!
@@OnBass42 Your video was one that attracted me to the Kiloton. It's not obvious, but with the selection of body wood, like this one in the linked video, you can get this bass under 8# (this particular wood is called Empress, I think G&L has discontinued it.) ruclips.net/video/AIz_RLncIxM/видео.html
I wish they did a 3 over 2 headstock like they did back in the day with the L2500. I just don't like the 4 over 1 look llike Music Man, Sadowsky and many others.
Best review format I've seen on yt.
You will go far on this medium.
Good tone tune, too.

Love a passive stingray style bass! Sounds great!
Great review, lovely bass. Sounds like a more polite (more versatile?) Stingray?
Kiloton basses have killer tone!
Great review!!! Thank you 😊
Great tones on that Kiloton and easy to bring in sound changes. Would seriously consider a G&L.
Thanks! I love the G&Ls!
Good job bro. I have 4 string with rosewood board. It’s a beast. Can’t wait to gig w it.

Good Work 🎶🎶👍
Thanks Kim. Fun process. I really dig this bass. Still my main instrument.

How does this stack up against the L 1000 750 5?

I like this bass, the 4 string version for me. But I was surprised to see it at 10lbs.
Thanks and hello from our new channel! 🙏 #kilotonbass #kiloton #glguitars
Thanks! Still my main bass. Most versatile and useful passive bass I've ever had. Also, my favorite neck ever. Thanks for the tremendous instrument!
What is the weight? Or, what is the body wood?
Mine weighs 9.4 lbs. Alder body
@@OnBass42 Do you consider that light? My target is a 5 string under 9#.
@@larsetom1 As far as 5 strings, I've owned, I consider it light. However, Sandberg makes a superlight bass under 9lbs. from what I understand.

I prefer the 3+2 as well, but I've gotten used to it.
