It’s ABOUT TIME! Doug should’ve had a signature bass YEARS AGO! That Spector bass is HIM ALL THE WAY!!! Congratulations Doug! Have fun with your toy!!😌🎸🎶👍🏾
Had the pleasure of be in a support act of one of Dougs Bands, as well as attending a few Workshops. That man is a living legend. Love his style and the Spectors!
Ian it was so cool seeing you three in the live on IG today, if anyone is the perfect person to go live with them it’s you, you were so happy on there you could literally see your eyes lit up
Doug Wimbish is one of my biggest idols on bass. I never tried to sound like him, his sound and playing is so original, I would just sound like a cheap rip off. But his playing is so inspiring to me, simply ignoring the limitations of a typical bass line and what type of effects you can put on bass ... and *still* support the song. But while he can create a whole 5 dish menu with it, with my limited musicality just a splash of that sauce spices my bass lines up substantially ... Thanks Doug!
@@OfficialSpector Thanks to you for managing to accommodate me, Doug, Rex and Frank Bello and the many, many others, of course. Without Stuart and his team we wouldn't exist. Definitely not at this level.
Awesome basses! And awesome human being, I really like the part when he mention his parents and the humble pride of his name in the headstock. such a wonderful guy (and genius musician)
Did bass tech for Doug in the late 90’s to Doug in Finland on couple of gigs. I also filmed footage for him and Will back then which lead to him and I staying in touch for a while. Doug also taught me that signature low string slap-pull technique of his 🙏🙏
Love the faded out glass colour on the 5-string, nod to Doug's 5 which was originally blue (can still some of the blue on the back of it). I first saw him play in Glasgow, Scotland in 89 with Tackhead (RIP Keith) through 2 x Trace Elliot each stacks with 1x15, 4x10 and a treble pack in a 300 person venue, gigs were louder then :) . Subsequently saw him play with Tackhead again and then Living Colour many times afterwards. Doug's has been an inspiration all these years, great to see this US bass range.
The neck on both the 4 and 5-string is shaved way down to make it the thinnest neck on any Spector. The nut width is also narrower than our other models.
@@OfficialSpector Thanks for the information. I'm not sure what is the benefit or advantage of shaving way down the neck only for the G string and B string? The nut width narrower is a benefit and advantage of doing what? for bending strings
@@waynegram8907 You got it! Some consider it to be a "faster" neck. It really comes down to personal preference. In this case, this is how Doug prefers it.
@@Belman5 That is correct, Doug does have a Euro signature that get's you most of the way there. These basses from our USA custom shop get you all the way there as true one to one recreations of his '87 basses.
He has been loyal to Spector and whilst deserves his own bass . I saw him live with Living Colour and they were awful and the only reason I knew he was playing bass was I could see him as the sound ??? Muddled Mess .
The original Wimbish basses had SOLID maple wings ! These new models don’t ! They have a laminated maple top with an un figured maple back . That is a bit of a disappointment for me !
Haven't had opportunity to try one. The ones I get come from Europe or Asia. I have seen on the #Spector website, 1 I want really bad. However it's very expensive. Costing over 4 Times more than Brooklyn. It will be mine one day. Also, USA Series will make me a signature Bass eventually I think. I watched a Virtual Tour of the shop here on RUclips and was very impressed. They do much by hand. Hard working Blue Collar Company that does outstanding work and business. 1 of the American things I Trust completely. Spector is one of the best Teammates I have. 🎛
Dreaming I'll have a 5 string Spector like that black model in this video!!!!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Been wanting a Spector for years now
honestly what’s crazier than these basses is that bro is almost 70 and he looks like he’s in his late 40s.
Amazing playing, amazing basses
This is great, Doug is the man - such a unique player and obviously a kind soul! Jungle Funk blew me away and still does!
💯 beyond incredible!

Well said!
Tackhead was amazing.
Did he have the 2 huge pedal boards ?
Saw this guy at The Bass Centre in Wapping in London back in the late '80s/early '90s....just an astounding player, my jaw hit the floor ♥️
Amazing experience anytime to see Doug live!
Deserving for sure! Well done Spector
💯 Thank you!
It's alive! Looks and sounds great plus it's fitted with Doug's favourite Rotosound strings as standard 🧡
Absolutely 🤘
Respect!!!

Amazing. Such powerhouses. Love my two Spectors... suit all kinds of music btw.
excellent! which models do you have?
The day I get a Spector NS2 is the day I reach heaven. I am dying to get one.
Amen, brother!
Doug is such an amazing, bad ass player!! It was so cool seeing you both live with Ian today! What a treat to come home from work to 🤘😎
💯and thank you for tuning in!
I'm a guitarist ...
But i like and love to hear Doug play the bass..
He's like sound crafter with huge tone and astounding skill ..
Congratulations Doug. Those are, not surprisingly, BEAUTIFUL!

A great artist and I'm lucky enough to own and play an NS 2 from 1987 #1433, just like him.

That's awesome! And you're correct that 5-string started out blue. wild!
finally he is having his talent recognized
Didn’t get to see LC Live but was lucky to catch Doug’s Jungle Funk project. Trippy.
It's not too late, LC is still rockin!
Living Color's "Stain" is still one of my favorite albums.

So what is so special about the neck radius and headstock? the neck fretboard has a special contour and radius?

I am confused - haven’t there been DW Signature Models 4&5 since many years ?!
Maybe they were Euro, these are USA. Not 100% sure.

When do these hit dealers?
the limited edition True Champagne's are at select dealers now. The standard models can be ordered from dealers starting today.
@@OfficialSpectorare these neck through? I don’t see pricing on your site, what are the 4s going to go for?
