    I have always plaid with one finger like Geddy Lee (not as good I may add) and have always wanted to learn slap. Sadly my right shoulder is permanently dislocated so my right arm movement is extremely limited (a bit like Trex would have been lol). After trying this technique, I'm over the moon that I can finally get that sound. WOW, a true game-changer for me.

    Doug is true to his word about sharing his stuff backstage. Back in 2000 at CBGB (after their first gig after their breakup) he actually did explain his "pick" technique to me personally. Great group of guys! A of course great musicians!

    Now that I have mastered Geddy Lee's Flamenco technique, I'm ready to take this on.

    Living color should have been huge. Way bigger than they were. But you could say that about a lot of bands.

      Before he join Living Colour he was a member of a band called Tackhead. Listen those tracks and you hear a bassound played by Doug! I find it awesome.

      g&l bridges offer similar weight and lockability - but there is no neck-thru sound to be had with g&l.
      A Hohner "Jack" with Steinberger licensed bridge might get you close (on a budget).

    Seems it’s just a random word used as a name - certainly nothing related to flamenco in any sense. Cool that he’s being so original.

    • @eliaspecholapida513
      @eliaspecholapida513 Год назад

      I was puzzled about that. I'm totally impressed by that technique of course but was wondering when it would start sounding like flamenco and which "palos" would you use it for. Never found the answer but very nice technique nontheless

    Why are all great bass funk trapped in the 70's? 7 minutes of funk for example...What happened to funkabilities? Why we have nothing like Sexy Mama by the Moments? That was pure dope.
