- If you are considering separating due to pregnancy or child birth, do it! Do what’s best for you and your family! You will figure everything else out. When you separate you will be honorably discharged! Before separating on your own be sure to talk to your command for the okay and further instructions! There is a process you must go through so please be sure to follow every step for a smooth transition! You got this mama!

But what if I’ve only been in 8 months and at my base for 2 months and in security forces😭I feel like my command will be on bs
Question… so I’m pregnant now and I’m going to take the chapter 8, I’m not married or anything. So how exactly does it work once I get out? Like I know they are going to make me go to VA and claim stuff but is there any other benefits I may get or no ?
How long did you serve? Were you able to keep your GI bill?
i served 3 1/2 years and yes i get my GI bill
Did u get ur requested date of separation? If not did you get a later date or before?
I asked my First Sher about separation after child birth and he told me that it’s too late, my baby isn’t 12 months yet. What should I do?
That is false. Pull up the regs go to your supervisor and take it from there! You can find the regs on google! Handle this ASAP and if you get push back go to EO and jag
How long did afpc take to approve your separation ?
You were able to get out after your baby was born? Theyre making me choose whether or not to get out now.
so when i give birth i’ll be hitting my 2 year mark in service…will i get my gi bill or no?
I’ll be at my almost 2 year mark as well and wondering the same. Good luck mama !
If you switch to post 911 You get paid based on time in service I believe with 2 years in service you'll get 80% of your GI bill this just means you get fewer months not less money, so like me'll have a little under 2 year so ill only get 18mo instead of 3yrs of paid edu and bah. Also, take into consideration that your time starts based on when you got out of tech school, and due to me being medical and having a long school I have less "time in service" in the sense in which they base it. I learned this information in a GI bill class at family readiness but feel free to double-check for your specific situation:)) Good luck
This was so helpful!!! Thank you!!
Hey girl! I’m planning on doing this process as well did they give you any push back when you filed for separation? I’m planning on doing so when I return to work and I have a feeling they aren’t going to be too enthralled about it
I’m in the process rn! My supervisor is NO help whatsoever so I’m kinda doing it on my own.. I think my application was just approved by my commander, but idk what’s the next step to take!! Please help?🫶🏽
Btw we’re the same position💀 material management ,been in 3 years working in inventory! 🤦🏽♀️
@@naataliej8881 did you have any more updates ? I’m planning on doing this soon
@@mayaredd Yes I’m still doing it on my own my application was approved now I’m working on out processing the most important thing is getting TAPS scheduled and out processing with finance! I’d do those first asap
@@naataliej8881 thanks! Also did you have to submit supporting documentation? I just sent my application in but did it without the additional documentation
@@mayaredd hey I’m trying to get more information on this process I’m actually in the navy but think the process would be the same across the board were you able to separate ?
But what if I’ve only been in 8 months and at my base for 2 months and in security forces😭I feel like my command will be on bs
It’s in regulations. They can’t not approve your request bc it’s voluntary.
