  • From his 1962 album 'Devil Woman', comes yet another self penned ballad by Marty who throughout his career seemed to have a conveyor belt of great songs coming from that fertile imagination of his. There is absolutely nobody else to match him for not only his vocal ability, but the sheer quality of the songs he wrote during his long and successful career.

I love to hear Marty sing from the time I was a little boy,by then I could'nt understand the words but his voice had the magic to claim you and listen to his songs.Still now his voice claims me and I love still hearing his songs. For me he was and is the best singer that lived among us.May he rest in peace together with his lovely wife Marizona. Thanks to you Tarquin for keeping his memory alive.

Yet still unappreciated. I watched an advert for Tim Life's 8VD collection of 'Grand Ole Opry favourites and there wasn't a word about him. He was the one singer that passed Hank Williams in popularity on the show, yet he doesn't get a mention. Ridiculous!
Thanks for your always kind comments sir.

I think Marty's popularity continues to be on the rise. Just look at how many musicians acknowledge his talent, ie Keith Urban/Marty Stuart. I think Marty has eclipsed many country greats due to songwriting skills. When people say today's country sucks, this can only based on the lousy music on the radio. My wife and I try to find real talent either on the web or from live shows. Andrew Combs is a guy who is under the radar but he is an accomplished musician and an excellent songwriter. He has way more talent than the performers you hear on the radio.
