- In this video i will talk about why Yelena made this face. This scene from Episode 18 of Season 4 of the Attack on Titan anime raised a lot of questions and also left fans confused as to the meaning of Yelena’s face and Armin’s reaction.

It's easy:
Armin had, for the past days, only prison food to eat. When he was finally freed, the first thing he did was to let a fart out. Thats why he was screaming that loud in front of everyone. He didn't want the other to hear the fart comming out. But the smell was still there and when Yelena xame from behind (because of armins screaming) she *smelled* it. Prison food is no joke.
At least she didn't embarrass him in front of the others and kept it a secret. She is a true friend.

The way I took it was that Yelena had just had these people locked up because they wanted to oppose the Euthanasia plan. She had not ordered them released, so when they appeared behind her and Armin started talking up a storm, he initial reaction was to assume he was rallying against her and made *That Face* - then a moment later she actually registered that he was saying "Let's help Eren get to Zeke" and because Yelena WANTS to trust the Eldians, she took those words at face value and smiled, asking them to 'please help them'.

I always thought that the reason for that said face was because Armin said "Let's go save Eldia's future" or something along those lines.

Right before she glares, Armin is in the middle of a statement where he’s saying they need to bring Eren and Zeke together. Armin and the 104th never agreed with Zeke’s plan, and Yelena knows this. When she glared at Armin, it was her way of saying “I can see through your lies.”
Fortunately for Armin, she didn’t take further action. Eren was getting beat up and she would take any help available to make sure Zeke’s plan was viable. That’s why she smiles after glaring and asks the 104th to help Eren and Zeke.

I thought it was cuz she knew Armin was smart and the fact that he just immediately agreed to work with Onyankopon/Yelena, as well as suspiciously cried because he was "moved" just screamed "im doing this to disguise another plan"
She knew he had another goal and was threatening him to make sure he knew that she knew and he was to keep himself in check.
Even though it wouldn’t be Armin’s betrayal she would face. It would be eren’s. And he didn’t have to take anyone through the betrayal garden

Armin's titan is pretty much unquestionably the strongest but he can never really use it because he will kill everyone he loves if they're within 1km of him.
no erens colossal is the strongest colossal titan cause it can harden, his founder is overall the strongest titan
Arent those explosions controllable? Bertholdt transforms multiple times out of thin air in the previous seasons
@@jessejames8901 bertholdt has also only transformed its torso implying that to an extent they can control how much of the transformation actually completes. If that's the case he could probably minimize that range to less than half... Ah well.

I have a slightly different interpretation. In the past, Armin used his words to manipulate Bertholdt into giving an emotional reaction, which ended up helping Armin and friends. The next time Armin meets Bertholdt (in Shiganshina), Armin tries to use his words into provoking a reaction from Bertholdt by saying that he's the only one who can save Annie. But this 2nd time, Bertholdt can see through the manipulation. I think this is how it worked between Armin and Yelena too.
The first time Armin talks to Yelena in prison, he uses his words to manipulate her into believing that he's sympathetic to her cause. Then, during the second time Armin talks with Yelena present, he attempts to use his words to make him and his friends appear still sympathetic to her cause as they help Eren. But because it's the SECOND time Yelena is hearing Armin being manipulative with his language, she's able to see right through it. When she does, she makes that face.
That face even shook Mikasa
I believe that's most of the reason, yea. But somehow I also believe it's because they want to help "Eren" rather than save "Zeke". This for Eren's sake rather than the euthanasia plan. Yelena and the Yeagerists don't exactly have the same goal... Yelena is on board with Zeke's plan and supports it 100% (a plan almost none of the Yeagerists know about), while the Yeagerists trust in Eren and the rebellion to bring about a new dawn.

This and the moment we first see hear beast titan talk were the creepiest most unsettling things I’ve ever witnessed in anime. On paper it shouldn’t be since I’ve seen worst things but just something about the way they create tension mystery and ambience. Truly amazing
This look was shockingly creepy I agree, and it’s from a normal human character who isn’t even that strong either. She was one of the most intimidating characters in this show despite this, you can just tell she has schemes upon schemes in her head and lots of people to do her bidding so no one messes with her usually

My interpretation of this was that Yelena as Armin have a superior analysis ability and a superior intelligence. So it's kind of disgusting for Yelena realize how Armin rejects his nature just because he's choosing to act over the the instincts of Bertholdt than himself.
Bertholdt does not influence Armin's opinions - Zeke alludes to this when it is also shown that Eren lied to Mikasa in the scene that he lied to Armin about that

pretty much she knew he wasnt being sincere with her and she wanted him to know it and that in any other situation it would not have ended well for them, however considering the yaegerists were pinned down by the marleyans much like the eldians didnt really have any other choice but to help the yaegerists, the yaegerists really didnt have any other choice but to let them do so

I didn't quite get it, he just straight up said, "Ig now we go and help Erehh right?". The confused state & self interrogation instead of just "Impulsively saying it's right to help Erehh rn" that Armin portrayed, the sense of betrayal that's being depicted over here?
I think what happened was that when Yelena explained Zeke's and Eren's plan, armin tricked yelena by crying and saying it was a great plan. But in the latest episode when armin, in the heat of the moments says 'That it's a SHAME but we have no choice but to help them ' made yelena realize, that he was never intending on helping them and had successfully tricked yelena
