  • In September 2018 three guest speakers came to the home of the Archive of Recorded Church Music in Malvern, to mark the 15th anniversary of the Archive. The title of Tim Day's talk was 'The Timeless Sound of the Cathedral Choir: why is is always changing?' (His book, 'I saw eternity the other night: King's College Cambridge and an English singing tradition' is to be published in November 2018.)
Tim was for many years a music curator in the Sound Archive of the British Library.
This was one of three fascinating talks given by distinguished guest speakers to celebrate the 15th Anniversary of the Archive of Recorded Church Music.

It is! Tim Day, organ scholar at St. John's college Oxford in the early seventies! Fond and happy memories of singing those wonderful motets, anthems and services! Congratulations, Tim, on your distinguished career.

He'd be surprised to know how often I quote him: (on complaints from choristers singing in winter in an unheated mediaeval chapel) "If you were concentrating you wouldn't notice the temperature"...😊
