I checked out one of the herring/alewife ladders on the south shore. They were pooled up but I don't think they could make it up the ladder, the water was flowing so hard. And that was before this rain. I have to imagine some nice bass would be lurking in the lake where the ladder empties out. Some of the herring were 8 inches easy. I know up in Cape Cod those runs produce some monster bass. The Massachusetts state record is 3.5 pounds bigger than New York's. 15 pounds. PS I bought the leader wallet through your link. You probably made several cents. Don't mention it.
Yeah the alewife should be running in the eastern south shore creeks. Maybe even in the northshore creeks (which I have never seen) thanks for watching as always!
Do you know if they ever built the second fish ladder in Yaphank near the old Yaphank garage ? They built the one across from the fire house some years ago but never finished the one connecting the lower Carmen's river to the lower Yaphank lake.
@@brionfranks478 To be honest I am not sure about that, yes, I’ve always seen tons of alewife in the early spring at Southhaven under the bridge. Not sure if they make it up the ladder. Part of me suspects that these fish ladders are a government spending scam. There is a fish ladder built for alewife at the first place I fished in this video on the North Shore, and I would bet a lot of money that not a single alewife has ever entered that pond from that ladder. Meanwhile it cost the taxpayers something like half a million dollars.
@@brionfranks478 No idea. The place I am talking about is in Eastern Nassau county. If you check out On the Water's site they have stories about big Cape Cod bass and alewife runs. Even the Sprexster gets some ink there once in awhile, especially when he caught that cobia in the surf. They have real good upstate NY freshwater reports. The Niagara river looks crazy (huge lake and brown trout, steelhead, walleyes, muskies, smallmouth, salmon). I hope to get up there this year. My buddy seems up to it which cuts the expense in half. A charter for two is usually around $425.
Credit to you getting out in that slop. I also notice the Osprey seem to time their arrival with the trout stocking at that spot, lol! Have you tried Southards Pond much?
Love your dedication to being out there on the water.
Can’t live without it lol
Thanks for watching!
Well I’m impressed! It’s cold & miserable out there. I’m indoors under my blankets!
Haha I gotta get out whenever I can regardless of the weather, thanks for watching!
The best weather for bass fishing
Sure is!
Wonderful video
Thanks for watching!
Good stuff as always
Thanks for watching!

No not lately. And yeah, gotta get out whenever you can regardless of conditions. Thanks for watching!
Read that there are striped bass in western long island starting to appear.
Yeah, I’ve been skunking for two weeks on them, haven’t really been out at the opportune times because I’m so busy
@@Bsprecksfishing Yeah, know what you mean. I need to talk to my boss about leaving work everyday around high tide for a couple of hours in late May.
@@jessegraham1004 haha!
Lenny and I were talking yesterday since no one has heard if anything has been stocked.
SB soon. The list was put out.
Yeah, definitely was not stocked, no tire marks from the truck, no dead trout, no fins or swirls in the water
