I have been using these for a while now and wouldn't go back. They do not bleed like most pens and the silver line is easy for me to see when cutting or marking patterns.
Thank you for you're question and watching the video. Yes this is indeed a method people use to skive leather. If you Google Japanese leather plane you will see videos and pictures of them being used. Do these differ from the standard wood plane? Honestly I don't know, but it's the same concept.
thank you for your comment and for watching my video. Did you watch the video to the end? As you can clearly see me using the pen not an insert and the eraser in the course of the video.
The refills, I assume you've looked online and only found refills, can be used with pretty much any pen-"casing" (in lack of a better word). If this brand is similar to Star Silver (the brand I use) and I guess it is, using a regular eraser that you can get at any penstore will work.

peter romano I have and it works really well once you get the hang of it although your blade needs to be razor sharp.
apparently stanley 151 spokeshaves can be used for skiving..although they work better when modified
can anyone tell me where to find these pens? I can only find non-permanent markers. Thank you!
I put a link to the refills in the description. You can also order the pen body from Amazon or a leather supplier like Tandy.
I see the refills there but where are the actual pen/ holders and the eraser?
