  • This video is focusing on the gaps in education that an entry level civil engineer may have on understanding beam moment releases.
Questions like what is a simply supported beam is and if the end moments and the continious moments can be released in a secondary beam etc are regular questions we get from students at the start of their structural engineering career.
The video explains what a simply supported beam is and what are the normal practices in analysis aswell as in detailing when there is a secondary beam exists in the building structure.

If we not released secondary beam at junction then the main beam torsion force becomes higher so that the main beam sections asking higher size, practically it is not possible to give such size, please suggest solution for that?
Can we designing the main beam by releasing secondary beam moments and then designing the secondary beam without releasing their ends?

Your last question - No you should not do that. Idealise in one way and follow it. See if releasing is practically possible to achieve. How will you detail? What ever you do there will be a moment developed unless it is simply supported.
Now regarding torsion - What is torsion? How is IS 456 designing for torsion? Is there a design for torsion? I have explained it in the course work. Please see it.

There will be partial fixity any ways.Do you want to have cracks in beams? Read www.civilera.com/post/structural-design-of-buildings

    interesting !
But i think we need to release the moment if we need to in case of stee structure.
