- In Myanmar, weeks of fighting near the town of Myawaddy on the Thai border has forced tens of thousands of people into Thailand.
But many more remain trapped inside the country.
The UN estimates 2.5 million people have been displaced by fighting since the military seized power in a 2021 coup.
In the second of his series of special reports from inside Myanmar, Tony Cheng witnessed the desperate conditions many of those people are living in.

In my humble opinion, displaced civilians fleeing or caught up in the civil war in Myanmar should be able to relocate and resettle over to the vast resourceful Australia & New Zealand in the Asia-Pacific region..[For more, pls read the informative multi-page comments by 'Ms. Gregoria' at, "Myanmar remains in social and economic crisis since military seized power/BBC News", on RUclips].. In fact, around 90% of Australia/New Zealand are completely empty. Besides, the vast majority of the population in Australia/New Zealand, tens of millions of Europeans were from all over Europe brought in over to the Asia-Pacific region.

I wouldn't say "faction" but he is Rohingya and heads a Rohingya rights org. The core of what he's saying is true, though he has a habit of stressing certain aspects more than others for obvious reasons. Like the host was trying to put it, the situation in Rakhine is about impossible to "solve" right now... it's important to call out everything that's happening, but politicizing it more will only make the tensions and divisions worse.
