- Life on an English Canal Boat gets even better, we leave Gallows Bridge and head to the Bingley Five Rise, the most spectacular locks in the UK, travelling by Narrowboat through Airedale we visit the sculpture park, get soaked in the rain, travel though locks, swing bridges and onto the Spectacular Bingley Five Rise.

Great drone footage Paul, well handled boat wise Anthony but all the accolades really go to the engineers and navvies who designed and constructed the flight - what a feat! When you get to the bottom of the 3 Rise there's a information board on the left with the duty lock keepers mobile on !!!! You should of called it !
They don't just hang around waiting on the off chance of a boat waiting passage you know!

This brought back fantastic memories of our week afloat last summer, I loved the drone footage of the 5 rise especially. Our boat got caught in the lock on a jutting out brick as we descended the 5 rise! Happy new year to you both, hope you make it safely back to Rufford when the situation arises.
Hey Yvonne. It was amazing wasn’t it? I remember them saying be careful of the bricks. Scary. Glad you enjoyed. Looking at the situation I think we may have to retrace our steps as the breech doesn’t look like it will be sorted before at least the end of May!

For many years it was maned by a paid member of staff (he was called Barry Whitelock and was there for just sort of 30 years) The more of your vlogs i see the more of me wants me to buy another Narrow boat ( Live on one in the late 80s to 2000) . Keep the vlogs coming and take care

You guys!! I’ve not shared with any of the vloggers I follow but. My husband and I are going on a NB holiday end of May/beg of June on the TnM. What has me skittish is the idea of locks! I’ve never seen on for real….Just looking at the B 5 rise! Yikes!! Fun trip at usual. Thanks for the 1/2 hour of peace.
Aww Jayne you will love it. We actually did part of the Trent and Mersey a few years back when we hired a boat. We had never done locks either. Just take your time and don’t let others rush you. Hope you enjoy as much as we did. Thanks for watching: take care ❤️

Glad you enjoyed going up the Five Rise, your drone footage of the 5 locks was spectacular and good to see what they are actually like all joined together, Did this flight going both up and down, thoroughly enjoyed them even though I worked the locks and hubby took boat in, there were no vlogs , when we were on the canals only blogs, so every thing is remembered by photos, you are making something special with your vlogs. Great vlog along the section of canal I walk regularly. Saltaire village is worth visiting as well as Roberts Park that you didn't realise was there.

Another absolutely fantastic cruise guys. I throughly enjoy all of your vlogs. Seeing the gorgeous Dexter is always a huge bonus. I cannot wait until we are as confident cruisers as you. We are very new to Narrow boating, and haven’t had to courage to move from our Marina mooring yet. Hey Vicki. Thank you for following our journey. Everyone feels like that. The shear size of the boat is quite intimidating but you do quickly get used to it. All I can say is that the helmsman course we did was invaluable and maybe something to consider. Hope we get to see you out on the cut sometime and best wishes for 2022. ❤️
I use the plastic hose you mentioned for about 9 years now. More often for my car instead of my boat. Very easy and you don't spill a single drop of fuel.

Keep meaning to ask if you’ve had a walk around e village and been in to the David Hockney exhibits at Salts Mill when you pass. It’s well worth the visit
We didn’t Michael. To be honest the weather wasn’t great at the time so didn’t do much exploring. We may have to retrace our steps this year due to the breech at Rishton so possibly do a bit more of that if we have to turn back. Best wishes for 2022 ❤️

Hi James, Happy New Year. We had plans but we are now stuck until Easter due to the breach and the lock at Gargrave. Anthony loves his crisps, I prefer chocolate though. All the best for 2022
Hey James. Hope you had a nice New year. The five rise really was amazing. Nothing fazes Dexter bless him. Even fireworks. I guess our cruising plans depends on the closures as we are still trapped on a small stretch and we have recently heard that the breech won’t be fixed until late May!.
