Had a chuckle when I saw the cow. We had a huge bull got stuck in the River Devon behind our house. The fire brigade had to be called to lift him out! I can see why Yorkshire is called God's county
Hey Janice. Aww hope the cow was ok. My favourite bit about the canals is the nature along it. It has been a real treat in Yorkshire. Fingers crossed we get to go into a different canal next year, closures both ways at the moment 🤨 ❤️
I felt bad watching this knowing we are in your morning spot. Promise to keep it warm. E are however stock here until March 17th ish as lock 7 on the marina is being fixed for 8 weeks. Love Skipton , we camp in our motorhome and niffany campsite. It’s narrow and one year a young lad who was on a hire boat , unlocked it as we were driving across. That was a moment I can tell you. Another lovely vlog. Keep em coming, more curry of the week and Anthony cooking please ☮️

Brilliant vlog as always. I remember that final swing bridge, it was a beast. A moored up boater watched me struggle single handedly then eventually stood on the edge of the bridge, about a foot from being closed. How smoothly it shifted back to closed position with his help. Thankfully I had my hubby with me, like you he does most of the steering and I do all the locks & bridges. Getting closer to the fateful days of being stuck... It was a gorgeous area though. It sounds like you would have been stuck in any direction because of closures if you hadn't made it through Gargrave. Seems premature of the CRT to close so many locks when the weather is so nice and so many boats are still out---but I guess they want to get a jump on repairs and take advantage of the better weather. Paul, I would suggest a drawing of the ducks marching past the rainy window. 🦆 So glad you didn't have to cancel your holiday. Have a great time! ❤

Pretty sure Skipton is where BBC filmed the Weeping Angels outdoor scenes from Dr. Who. That's the only tale I can tell about Skipton. Although there was a lad I met in Skipton when I was 19..... Big thing is we didn’t have a wood fire on our hired narrowboat just diesel heaters and we worried how much diesel it used. That could be a problem to new boaters, I wouldn’t worry now though. Is there anywhere on the canals that’s quiet where you could park up over winter that’s close to a water outlet, toilet empty, rubbish disposal, where you could get fuel and wood and close to a Tesco or M&S or similar and is safe? Hell look at that, once again it’s just beautiful where you are I so, so wish we could be doing it, I wish we were there too Paul. So bloody hot here at the moment. Love you three. 💕
Good point about the fire and I think that’s why our boat builder only installs a solid fuel fire and we love it. This has certainly been a beautiful stretch of canal and we are very lucky. Of all the places to be stuck this has to be the nicest. Only think is the travel to work and it’s the highest point on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal and can freeze. Hope you follow our journey and see what happens 👍
I think we would have struggled for diesel had we had diesel fire heater. We didn’t see anywhere to get diesel for miles on that stretch and no boat. The canal itself was beautiful though. Currently left the cold weather behind and we are basking in the sun in Gran Canaria. We weren’t sure it would happen. Hope you have a good week ❤️

Those vistas across the Yorkshire countryside are, I don't know how to describe it but they just tug on your heartstrings. Today is January 9th., 2022 this video is happening in October, so presumably you found winter mooring, had your trip abroad, and are now snuggled by warmth of the stove. I read somewhere the canals do freeze up, and you get a frosting snow, 5 cm tops?. I hear 360 degree cameras are all the rage on narrow boats. . Looking forward to your next Vlog. Stay safe guys.

@@anthonysmith-storey9247 well I loved Barnoldswick or ' Barlic' as they call it, I stayed there a few weeks an found some good boaty friends there. There is a fantastic steam pump engine there wish wasn't open when I was there but well worth a visit if possible. And of course around Pendle, the witchy visitors center and climbing up Pendle hill too with views across to the Yorkshire Dales.
Love the video, but we know what you look like, the scenery would be lovely to see more of. No bow thruster...oh dear, how can you even think of moving the boat. I wonder how the 72ft working boats managed.
Thanks Ray, I think 🤣 it’s difficult to get the balance right and one that everybody enjoys. We just try our best. There is a strong argument about bow thrusters but we wouldn’t drive a car without power steering if we didn’t have to 🤣 thanks for watching my friend 👍

They're having electric problems apparently if a few people lash the kettle on at the same time it trips, they've turned our electric off completely it's a good job the solar is taking care of business, if you want leccy and get back might be worth a stay at scarisbrick until they get it sorted tbh.

We had to wait for CRT to find out if we got assisted passage and luckily we did , but then a massive obstacle happens the day we move, all will be revealed next week 👍
Hi, do you know anything about boat finance? I know there's marine finance around but are there any other ways at all that you know of? I'd like to pay a deposit and obviously pay monthly for a narrow boat, I just have no idea of going about it. Any help would be great also very good video! Again 😄
Cheers Andrew. It isn’t something we know anything about sorry. We used the sale of our house to fund the boat so didn’t go down that route. My advise would be to join a group like the friendly narrowboat forum and see if anyone on there has any experience. Sorry couldn’t be of help. ❤️

Had a chuckle when I saw the cow. We had a huge bull got stuck in the River Devon behind our house. The fire brigade had to be called to lift him out! I can see why Yorkshire is called God's county

It has been a real treat in Yorkshire. Fingers crossed we get to go into a different canal next year, closures both ways at the moment 🤨 ❤️
I felt bad watching this knowing we are in your morning spot. Promise to keep it warm. E are however stock here until March 17th ish as lock 7 on the marina is being fixed for 8 weeks. Love Skipton , we camp in our motorhome and niffany campsite. It’s narrow and one year a young lad who was on a hire boat , unlocked it as we were driving across. That was a moment I can tell you. Another lovely vlog. Keep em coming, more curry of the week and Anthony cooking please ☮️

Brilliant vlog as always. I remember that final swing bridge, it was a beast. A moored up boater watched me struggle single handedly then eventually stood on the edge of the bridge, about a foot from being closed. How smoothly it shifted back to closed position with his help. Better late than never I guess 🙄 If I remember rightly there’s another tricky one very soon ahead of you too! Enjoy your holiday. Safe travels as always, I’m looking forward to your next instalment 😊

Thankfully I had my hubby with me, like you he does most of the steering and I do all the locks & bridges. He definitely is better at the tiller than me although I take a turn when we have long stretches between bridges etc. Enjoy the rest of your holiday, take care of each other 💖

Getting closer to the fateful days of being stuck... It was a gorgeous area though. It sounds like you would have been stuck in any direction because of closures if you hadn't made it through Gargrave. Seems premature of the CRT to close so many locks when the weather is so nice and so many boats are still out---but I guess they want to get a jump on repairs and take advantage of the better weather.
Paul, I would suggest a drawing of the ducks marching past the rainy window. 🦆

Pretty sure Skipton is where BBC filmed the Weeping Angels outdoor scenes from Dr. Who. That's the only tale I can tell about Skipton. Although there was a lad I met in Skipton when I was 19..... Big thing is we didn’t have a wood fire on our hired narrowboat just diesel heaters and we worried how much diesel it used. That could be a problem to new boaters, I wouldn’t worry now though. Is there anywhere on the canals that’s quiet where you could park up over winter that’s close to a water outlet, toilet empty, rubbish disposal, where you could get fuel and wood and close to a Tesco or M&S or similar and is safe? Hell look at that, once again it’s just beautiful where you are I so, so wish we could be doing it, I wish we were there too Paul. So bloody hot here at the moment. Love you three. 💕
Good point about the fire and I think that’s why our boat builder only installs a solid fuel fire and we love it. This has certainly been a beautiful stretch of canal and we are very lucky. Of all the places to be stuck this has to be the nicest. Only think is the travel to work and it’s the highest point on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal and can freeze. Hope you follow our journey and see what happens 👍

I think we would have struggled for diesel had we had diesel fire heater. We didn’t see anywhere to get diesel for miles on that stretch and no boat. The canal itself was beautiful though. Currently left the cold weather behind and we are basking in the sun in Gran Canaria. We weren’t sure it would happen. Hope you have a good week ❤️

Today is January 9th., 2022 this video is happening in October, so presumably you found winter mooring, had your trip abroad, and are now snuggled by warmth of the stove. I read somewhere the canals do freeze up, and you get a frosting snow, 5 cm tops?. I hear 360 degree cameras are all the rage on narrow boats. . Looking forward to your next Vlog. Stay safe guys.

Loved seeing your reaction to the scenery around my local canal. I regularly run and walk this part of the canal. A local photographer has recently taken superb shots of Kingfishers along here.

Thanks Keith we have been blown away by the scenery in these parts and we have been lucky enough to explore some of Yorkshire while awaiting passage at Gargrave. Definitely recommend this stretch 👍
Hey Keith. I do think there are hire boats on that stretch but you definitely want to wait until all the stoppages are completed. I do highly recommend though. It really my was stunning. Take care guys. ❤️

Since y'all started the vlogs, y'all's editing and presentation style have really grown, seems to me, maybe it's just me. Feels like y'all these past few months are more focused on the canal travel, the shifting of the boat, the locks, the other boats and narrowboaters, and and there's more of Anthony and y'all chatting together. Really do enjoy it. It is nice to see some your art. Seems like I haven't seen a lot of your work lately.

Oh wow! I finally got back to my mooring in Skipton in November after setting off for a super trip out in March :). Sorry I have missed you, would have loved to say hello. I wonder if you got passed the Rishton breach, I think that was October. All will no doubt be revealed! :)
Hey Richard. That would have been lovely. We loved Skipton too. I think that breech is going to keep that section closed until end of May so we are currently trapped between Gargrave and Rishton. ❤️
@@anthonysmith-storey9247 well I loved Barnoldswick or ' Barlic' as they call it, I stayed there a few weeks an found some good boaty friends there. There is a fantastic steam pump engine there wish wasn't open when I was there but well worth a visit if possible. And of course around Pendle, the witchy visitors center and climbing up Pendle hill too with views across to the Yorkshire Dales.

Love the video, but we know what you look like, the scenery would be lovely to see more of. No bow thruster...oh dear, how can you even think of moving the boat. I wonder how the 72ft working boats managed.
Thanks Ray, I think 🤣 it’s difficult to get the balance right and one that everybody enjoys. We just try our best. There is a strong argument about bow thrusters but we wouldn’t drive a car without power steering if we didn’t have to 🤣 thanks for watching my friend 👍
Thanks Ray. Glad you enjoyed. The bow thruster is convenient but we obviously are still able to control the boat as we both made sure we completed a helmsman course before venturing onto a boat to live.

were you hoping to go back to fettlers ? They're having electric problems apparently if a few people lash the kettle on at the same time it trips, they've turned our electric off completely it's a good job the solar is taking care of business, if you want leccy and get back might be worth a stay at scarisbrick until they get it sorted tbh.

Oh! We heard they had a few issues. Hopefully they will have sorted it all by the time next year comes. We were really looking forward to getting back, mainly for the lovely friends we met last year.

invest in a multi-meter, it is useful for checking batteries and fuses. screwfix is great for them

We had to wait for CRT to find out if we got assisted passage and luckily we did , but then a massive obstacle happens the day we move, all will be revealed next week 👍
Hi, do you know anything about boat finance? I know there's marine finance around but are there any other ways at all that you know of? I'd like to pay a deposit and obviously pay monthly for a narrow boat, I just have no idea of going about it. Any help would be great also very good video! Again 😄
Cheers Andrew. It isn’t something we know anything about sorry. We used the sale of our house to fund the boat so didn’t go down that route. My advise would be to join a group like the friendly narrowboat forum and see if anyone on there has any experience. Sorry couldn’t be of help. ❤️
