This guide, while kind of outdated, it's a nice time capsule of the 90s if I'm being honest.
6:28 if you filled your inventory before you get the sound stone, buzz buzz will give it to Tracy and you can leave it with her for the entire game, and I'm pretty sure it will still record your melodies even if you don't have it. So more or less the players guide is wrong here too.
Woah really? I gotta try it on my next play through so I can save a slot lol
MonkeyNess saying "Bodacious Babe" is cursed
Hell yeah, a part two!
To give the Player's Guide some credit on the "*If* you have a Sound Stone" thing, it is possible to fill your inventory with junk (cookies from Spiteful Crows, namely) before Buzz Buzz gives you the Sound Stone in the Minch household, probably one of the most obscure dialogues in the game. He sends it to Tracy to hold onto in that case. Although it still loses points for saying "*a* Sound Stone," since there's still only one in the game.
Wow! Never knew this!
You forgot to mention in the "Tessie Sighted!" section it says Winters was founded in 1889 the same year Nintendo was founded!
I found the gold miner image funny because he reminded me of live action Mario (even had it as my pfp on Discord for a while)
Will be mentioning things I missed in a future video! Thanks for letting me know!
But he did say it
"Threed will still be covered in darkness until you beat the Trillionage Sprout."
Minor error here. Threed is restored to daylight once you beat Belch. You can skip Trillionage Sprout and come back to fight it later if you want.
You remind me of the RUclips cybershell. I love earthbound and I love your videos
RUclipsr*
"pain the neck" lol oh noo
I'm a sophisticated drug dealer, I have a beautiful drug emporium
Actually it IS possible to not be holding a sound stone, just have a full inventory at the time of buzz buzz's death and it will be given to Ness's sister instead
i love ur videos so much.... ive been waiting for this patiently
Bubble Monkey is a dangerous escaped convict. If seen, return him to the Onett Police Station
I just got into your content a little while ago after I beat EB. Love to see you upload
Welcome to the channel! Hope you'll stick around :)
You can heal sunstroke with alpha.
Thank you Oscar-winning actor Leonardo DiCraprio.
I wish there were still guides written like this
I wish there were still guides
i can’t wait for the next episode! 😁
Thank you Prince Poo from EarthBound
MonkeyNess' videos are never bad :)
Another error is that the guide states you need the "Broken Parabolic" to get the Gaia Beam when it's the Broken Antenna. It also calls the Gaia Beam the "Baddest Gaia Beam".
5:10 threed actually lights up after beating belch. The trillionage sprout has nothing to do with it
yo its my favorite piece of literature!
Great vid - just to nitpick your nitpick, you actually *can* avoid obtaining the Sound Stone by cramming your inventory with cookies before encountering Buzz Buzz at the beginning of the game. (I believe he gives it to your sis instead for storage.)
Thank you! Appreciate it, and have been made aware of this by a few people. You can also put the Sound Stone in Escargot Express at any point. I just meant that it's extremely unlikely the player wouldn't have the Sound Stone with them, especially by the third Sanctuary Location.
@@MonkeyNess Ah, I see. Well, love your vids, they're just as charming as the game they regard. Keep on trucking!
@@KajiCarson Thank you so much! New video coming very soon!
The tone reminds me of A Series of Unfortunate Events.
6:53 Oh my God 😱! June 16 is my birthday 🎂! My birthday 🎁 was on a Monday too 😯! What an incredible coincidence 😲! Amazing 🤩!
Less go part 2
Great video, but a little mistake at 8:45. One-armed bandit is old fashioned slang for a slot machine, not literally calling them bandits, but very much implying they're still trying to scam you.
Neat~
Psi healing alpha is all you need for sunstroke :x
6:53 Oh my God 😱! June 16 is my birthday 🎂! What an incredible coincidence 😲! Amazing 🤩!
I JUST noticed that the date on the newspaper 📰 is on a Monday. My birthday 🎁 was on a Monday too 😯!
I would honestly love to own a copy of the player’s guide. Probably a repro though, as I ain’t paying 200 dollars
Nintendo has released the entire guide in a PDF for free online!
The error that I always remember since I was a kid is on page 53 where the Slimy Little Pile is called a Slimy Little Pig. No idea how that one got in there. Maybe a typo, followed by a bad spell check correction?
It may be intentional to be funny about bad and false information next to real stuff in a magazine
1:19 I think that’s just a general carnival reference with the “Lions, Tigers, and Bears” thing.
According to a web search I just did it says Japan has some schools that have class even in early summer and vacation doesn’t Start till July 20th for them so I guess this guide might just be going off of that rather than usa’s school vacation time
Fly honey official artwork. That's all. What else can I say?
Actually I was expecting it to look so gross but it even looks tasty, if it were not for the giant fly on the jar's etiquette.
5:50 The guide isn't referring to PSI Rockin' as PSI Power, it's saying "If you use a strong PSI power", *a* strong PSI power, so this could just as much be about PSI Freeze.
The capitalization of “Power” just reads odd, as “a strong PSI power” would make more sense grammatically. Additionally, the guide refers to PSI Rockin’ as “PSI POWER” much earlier, furthering the confusion.
Makes sense. The guide is usually very inaccurate, just wanted to point out that this time it could be about more than just Rockin@@MonkeyNess
I mean there's one Mr Saturn living in the Blue Blue Village and the old man at the cave who sells you shit tells you of Saturn Valley
Sure, Mr. Saturn lives in HHV, but he stays in his house, and I just always thought of the salesman in Grapefruit Falls as a sort of wanderer, who ventures in that area, and would more likely know of the Mr. Saturn.
@@MonkeyNess Maybe the Saturn Valley is just a known place outside of the village within, probably explains why the manual refers to "Saturn Valley" as Saturn Valley Village
4:18 wait a broken parabolic?! In the game its the broken antena and... WHAT?! A baddest gaia beam?! huh??????
Huh, weird... I never thought of the Mr. Saturn are supposed to be like mysterious creatures in the Mother/Earthbound universe.
5:53 I think they meant they wanted you to use a strong PSI, I think they're not calling PK Rockin' "PK Power" since the wording.
I think they are because screenshots earlier in the guide name PK Rockin as "PK POWER."
@@MonkeyNess Mk, I think they aren't (At least not here.) due to them wording it like "Use *A* strong PSI Power!" in this case instead of "Use PSI Power!", even just a letter can change the meaning of things. 'Course, I don't mind it if you still think that they refer to it as PK Power *in this instance.
Oh, I see now. Good catch! Totally misread that as "Use strong PSI Power!"
Still think it's odd to capitalize "Power" in this case, though.
Alternatively, it may be suggesting using a "strong PSI Power" in regards to the different levels of PSI Rockin'; alpha, beta, etc.
@@MonkeyNess sorta makes sense, but I feel like they'd be referring more to Paula's PSI
It's already been a whole month since you uploaded this part. We actually will be seeing more of it, right?
Part 3 is linked in the description…
@@MonkeyNess Oh, I see.
I
2:45 you sound like cybershell here for some reason lol
4:12 what bothers me so much about this diagram is the final entry. The Broken "Parabolic" and "Baddest Gaia Beam" do not exist, it should say "Antenna" and "Gaia Beam". It bothers me so much not just because it's wrong ("Baddest Gaia Beam" is excusable), but because I just can't understand how they mistakenly wrote "Parabolic" instead of "Antenna". How did that even happen and how did no one catch that?
5:10 As someone who leaves Trillionage Sprout until getting Poo every single time, it's actually Belch's defeat that changes Threed to it's "saved" state. Trillionage Sprout does nothing except give you the 3rd Melody.
7:47 Actually Alpha is good enough. You can save some PP with that, which considering how much everyone else gets Sunstroke, will save you a fair bit in the long run.
I love your videos, you do great work! Now I'm not trying to be a jerk, but...
3:03 it's the Mesozoic era, (mes-o-zo-ic) not the Mosaic.
Yeah, no defense there. Totally flubbed that pronunciation.
@@MonkeyNess Mosaic does sound like it goes hand in hand with earthbound's humor. So it actually works.
I'm surprised that you're surprised at a strategy guide giving you ideas like refilling your PP with magic butterflies by going in and out of the room. That's the kind of stuff strategy guides do...
Not generally by advising players to abuse exploits, but the guide explicitly encouraging this, and seeing Itoi himself do it when playing the game, I find it interesting it seems to be an intentional design choice, leading me to wonder why not just have them refill all your PP instead of 20 PP?
@@MonkeyNess I think a good middle ground would be different types of butterflies, with different colors and different spawn rates; rarer butterflies give more PP, like 30 or even 50.
