The family issue is not clear as there are many versions, but here are some indicators:
1) another singer who was rumored to have been linked with Morissette said later they always were never more than friends as her family was extremely protective.
2) in the same vein Dave and Morissette in their wedding video mentioned meeting on the rooftop of her former condo before. Clue: her family especially her mom lived with Morissette throughout her career which started at fourteen.
3) Morissette was practically the main breadwinner of her family due to her career. Her father among other things said her fiancee Dave only wanted to get at her money. He also said that her marriage would destroy the momentum of her potential international showbiz career.
I do understand a family wanting to protect their girl, especially in the world of show business and especially when she was still a teen. But they might not have noticed her growing up.
I do get how her rock musician father basically wanted to protect his daughter especially as he had named her after his favorite rock star Alanis Morissette, had given her voice training as a kid, had insisted she do voice exercises for an hour a day BEFORE homework and all of that. But he might have been a bit of a stage parent as well, and his daughter might have been kind of looking for her own identity especially after being on stage since childhood and a pro since her teens. There are fans of Morissette who distrust her husband too, but so far, he seems supportive.

I love Morissette! I got interested again with our local singers because of her... it was said before that a music producer of mariah carey had a meeting with Morissette's team for work it was almost or within this family issue or before it blew up. Morisette turned down everything for the guy..she chose him over all the offers at that time. I think there were conditions for that contract. It makes sense when the mother of the guy said in their wedding to her son that he must give weight to what she did for him, he must value that. Because she chose him over everything even to her family. I hope that everything will be healed in time.

Mori and Sarah Geronimo, another popular singer here has the same problem. Family vs. Husband. With family not wanting to lose their gravy train. Children are expected to support the family when they grow up. Called ungrateful if they don't. Very toxic.

Mori was the family's bread winner, some reports said. The family was said to be insecure with Dave taking over Mori's life and eventually her assets. I believe there were also reports which said that Morisette gave her father her life savings worth millions of pesos to mend things but I didn't follow how that turned out.

Yes, she's just not an asia's phoenix anymore.
Definitely, Morissette is a force to be reckoned with in the music industry. She may have some issues in the past but these don't diminish the fact that she's an amazing singer and a beautiful person inside and out who is worth emulating. By the way, she's a Christian and it is being prominently displayed in her perspective about life right now.

Back in the day when Mori still on her baby step to introductory music the press really has nothing but making money on undermining every artist not signed in one of major entertainment network in the country. Good thing is when when wish bus became the main thing on showcasing freelance singers total package the shift starts and with millions views morri receiving I guess that's her statement of her talent. With her personal aspect of one human understand life has its ups and down I don't think it's a deal to focus on.

I would hardly call any of these scandals. Most of them were things out of her control, but people put such high expectations on Mori and forget she’s human. For over a decade she delivered her best time after time. She would sing the most difficult songs at fans requests just on the spot. I have never seen one ounce of rudeness or jealousy from this woman. In fact she’s one of the most humble artists, she’s always sharing the stage with up and coming Filipino artists. And even tho people throw shade her way she never addresses it or claps back. Even her own father would publicly humiliate her by airing their family laundry, but she still talks about him with respect. While I do love the Philippines, they do take her for granted and are way too harsh on her. I wish she gets the international recognition she deserves
And btw Dave Lamar, morissette’s husband, is her number one supporter. He helped her leave a toxic record label and create her own RUclips channel. He’s a photographer so he’s recording and producing almost all her performances on her channel. He’s a devout Christian and helped morissette get closer to her faith. He helps her stay strong when she’s struggling with her voice and so on.

One thing you need to know about DAVE is that he is not a foul mouth, the problem was that her father wanted to be in full control of MORISSETTES career, he said Dave's relationship with Morissette which goes back to 2011 when they 1st collaborated on various music projects was that is was beneficial to Dave, he couldn't have been any further from the truth, like MORISSETTE, DAVE is a very Christian man and both are members of the FAVOR CHURCH community, both devoted to god and devoted to each other, this is both of there one and only relationships, they've never had any other partners, her dad was holding her back anyway, the amount of opportunities she had and her dad turned them down is unbelievable, she is a free spirit now, in charge of her own career and Dave has put his own career on hold in support of MORISSETTE, he helps MORISSETTE with her song writing as it's something she always denied that she had the confidence to do, she opened up with her EP called SIGNATURE consisting of 5 amazing tracks, the 1st one was about her estranged relationship with her father called LOVE YOU STILL, she has her wedding video on her and Dave's channels, they got married on the 28th of June 2021 and no one knew until Xmas 2021 other than the guests at the wedding, it coincided with the release of the next originals which where performed at her wedding, it's a great watch guys, I hope you react to it because it's happy and sad all at the same time, she's a gem that needs looking after, Dave's been the best thing that could of happened to her away from her toxic father, I hope he wakes up and makes up with his treasure of a daughter 🇬🇧🔥👌❤️.

Morissette's father abandoned his family and returned only when Morissette's appearance on the voice was successful. This is the reason of her walk out issue at the concert and it was only the press people who made Morissette’s bad.

Dave is a good guy. Dave's foul-mouthed issue is not true. Dave's rsspect for Mori's parents is unmeasurable. Mori's father rants on tweeter was ignored by Mori and Dave, later they realized a poser and fake accounts in the name of "Dave Lamar" had a heated exchange conversations with Mr. Amon. Morissette is Dave's first and great love. About Mori's family...well, let's just say her Father is too protective that he can't yet let go of her first born. No man actually is accepted by her father for Mori. Everybody is rejected, until Mori fought her love for Dave. They've been together, best friend and lover for more than ten years(Mori's father knows about it nd continue to object) before they got married...and now they are happy together doing things they both love. "Music".

Dave is a good guy, I just think that Morissette's dad is a little manipulative because it has already been told before that only her father who is not accepting dave the rest were okay with dave, dads just afraid that they will lose the breadwinner of the family because Morissette has been the one providing for her family since she was still very little. At the end of the day parents should still support their kids even though they don't want that person for their kid they should still not give up to their kid that is awful specially not attending Morissettes wedding is so unfair for Mori whos been supporting and providing her family since she was still a kid but her family can't even be there at her wedding to support her happiness. Shame on her dad. Reports also said that huge amount of money Morissette earned in her career Morissette left it for her family. That is how loving Morissette is to them but they are just being unfair to her.

Truth is, Mori's father wants all the money and they know once Mori is married, the greedy dad won't have full access to it. After many years of sacrifice for her family, her family still too selfish to let her find her own happiness with the man she loves. Her tragic story is similar to another famous Filipino singer Sarah Geronimo, With Gigi De Lana, she grew up abandoned by her father and she took the responsibility to take care of her mother by joining the entertainment industry. She bought a house for them and worked very hard after her mother got diagnosed with cancer. Philippines is a country of children making sacrifices for their family - either by becoming a singer/actress or working abroad - and most Filipino artists have this kind of background.

@DANDJREACT there are some differences though. With Sarah G, her manager, "Boss Vic" - head of Viva Records and Viva Films - allegedly mediated the issue with her parents who objected to her present husband. Fortunate for her even as it was hard as well.
As for Gigi, her mother even as she struggled without a husband by her side sent Gigi through all of school including college. Gigi helped her mother back later on. Morissette on the other hand didn't even finish high school though by all appearances she was a smart kid. She was quite fast at solving the Rubik's cube (there is a video of that on the YT channel of her father Amay Amon, not updated since 2019 but stayed up) and her brother whose schooling she helped fund studied math in college. And by all appearances, Gigi's folks were poorer.
@DANDJREACT most Filipina singers come from poor to middle-class backgrounds. There are few exceptions to that. One reason why they are so good is that they are literally singing for a chance at a better life and the contests have a choice of many good to excellent singers.

I feel bad for Mori's dad. The guy raised her and taught all she knows about music then she ran away with a boy and got marry. He probably wanted her to conquer the world of music before marriage and family. With her talent, knowledge, and dedication, she very well could have. Maybe she still can...will see. No body at all on her side showed up for her marriage, that's incredibly sad. I'm sure she cried about it. But I guess you rip what you sow.
