It’s non-canon, but in DBGT, Goku and Vegeta fused into Gogeta when they were Super Saiyan 4’s. Their fusion ended in about 15 minutes rather than 30 like normal. It was because they were Super Saiyan 4’s, so they lost energy way quicker.
there is something that is a bit inaccurate and its for the times it took for Goku and Vegeta to become Gogeta in Fusion Reborn. It took only 2 attempts to become Gogeta then; it being the second time they got it right.
Vegito takes Goku’s Gi as base appearance with colour of Vegeta’s tights and taking Vegeta’s gloves and boots, that is why Vegito in Dragon Ball Super remained the same, the same applied in Dragon Ball Heroes anime even when Wear armour it took Goku gi as the basis of appearance while mixing colour with vegeta’s clothes.

since gotenks and gogeta would have to fuse to become each other before fusing to become the fusion of the fusions, that means the regular two fusions would have less time than the two fusions together. therefore, when the original fusions' time runs out, they would have to separate, but they are in the second fusion, not letting them go. so even if it did work, when the fusions' time runs out, their bodies would literally be ripping itself apart, probably killing them. pretty brutal.

I do have a theory why vegeto did wear the same clothes when he fought zamasu as when he fought buuhan, in theory the clothes only combine the first time per duo & after that if the same duo uses potara fusion again, then the clothes default to be the same as the first time

While I do believe that both minds of the fused characters are definitely combined, I believe there may be a dominant personality. Take Gotenks for example. He is definitely cocky and arrogant, and ready to showboat. Now I've never seen Goten act that way, he's mild-mannered and respectful, but Trunks on the other hand is for sure a show-boater. And if you listen real good, you hear more of Trunks in Gotenks voice than you do Goten. Like a 75/25 ratio.

Just because 2 very powerful warriors merge into an even stronger one with their power levels multiplied it is simply too much to handle or an easy victory. So plot is against them to make it more interesting. Otherwise fusions would just destroy villains during their first encounter and we wouldn't get to see all the fights.

You got the time limit wrong for the two different fusions. The Potara lasts an hour unless the fusion uses to much stamina/power, the Metamoran Fusion aka the Fusion Dance lasts 30 minutes. Also did you forget that Gogeta beat Janemba in Fusion Reborn since he killed him off, and reverted him to the demon child
The rules of power multiplayer was tuched upon twice and not not the height and power being closely similar for the dance while patara are with less restriction.
The only reason shin doesn’t just leave potara earrings with the earthlings is because Goku can easily go get them or they can talk via telepathy,I never considered the fact that the armor vegeta was wearing wasn’t incorporated into vegitos outfit. I like to think Vegito is aware of himself and thus has his outfit follow his own taste which is a combination of Goku and Vegeta which explains why no armor because Goku doesn’t like it plus the gloves and Boots work well on there own!
There is another rule that I do not think you said, is that if you do the fusion dance you need to have the same energy level (in the case of ki or qi, I don't remember how to write this word) so that you don't you fail your dance and this reduces and how powerful the transformation will be you think so "x" has a power of 100 and "y" has 200, "y" has to fall to 100 (and let's say it has a power of 200 in final) to make the transformation and reduce the power of the transformation after it succeeded, but with potara rings it does not matter that as in the previous case with "x" and "y" now they have together 300 which brings us to the fact that the earrings are superior in all aspects of these mergers

U forgot to mention that that unlike potatara fusion u would have to be almost exactly same shape and size of who ever being fused together in a fusion dance or that power levels between power levels have to be exactly equal but in potatara fusion it don't matter

Even tho goku and vegeta may have not been wearing the same clothes during the 2nd time they fused they had the same clothes as before when the first merger Bc they don’t have to have on the same clothes they just have on the same clothes they had when the first merged
You got the time limit wrong for the two different fusions. The Potara lasts an hour unless the fusion uses to much stamina/power, the Metamoran Fusion aka the Fusion Dance lasts 30 minutes. Also did you forget that Gogeta beat Janemba in Fusion Reborn since he killed him off, and reverted him to the demon child
The dance does the thing that potara does with transformations too
The rules of power multiplayer was tuched upon twice and not not the height and power being closely similar for the dance while patara are with less restriction.

The only reason shin doesn’t just leave potara earrings with the earthlings is because Goku can easily go get them or they can talk via telepathy,I never considered the fact that the armor vegeta was wearing wasn’t incorporated into vegitos outfit. I like to think Vegito is aware of himself and thus has his outfit follow his own taste which is a combination of Goku and Vegeta which explains why no armor because Goku doesn’t like it plus the gloves and Boots work well on there own!

There is another rule that I do not think you said, is that if you do the fusion dance you need to have the same energy level (in the case of ki or qi, I don't remember how to write this word) so that you don't you fail your dance and this reduces and how powerful the transformation will be you think so "x" has a power of 100 and "y" has 200, "y" has to fall to 100 (and let's say it has a power of 200 in final) to make the transformation and reduce the power of the transformation after it succeeded, but with potara rings it does not matter that as in the previous case with "x" and "y" now they have together 300 which brings us to the fact that the earrings are superior in all aspects of these mergers
Does Goku still wear weighted Gis? Cause that would probably be the only way I can think to explain the armor disappearing in fusion, it'd just become a part of the weighted Gi
Not all fusions using the dance and or portara earing make the fused person cocky its just a result of the more dominant personality taking over Vegeta, Trunks, and Caulifla they all have extremely cocky personalities therefore making the fused person cocky.
Wait. I thought that The Potara earrings gave you one hour, while the fusion dance gave you 30 minutes.
