I would very much like to get the Honem for my brand new Samsung Galaxy S 23, One question, are there any gimbles that handle smartphone as well as say the pocket point-and-shoot Sony ZV1 which is only 294 grammes in weight. I have both and was wondering what you would suggest. That's the only reason I haven't bought the iSteady M6 so far. Buying 2 gimbles seems like an indulgence. Wow, such a great message! Thanks for the awesome feedback. I mostly use smartphone gimbals, but I do have a hybrid gimbal that works with both smartphones and mini mirrorless cameras and it’s awesome. It’s called the Scorp Mini. I recommend it. 👊🏽😁

Hey, the magnetic AI tracking add on will only track people, but you can track objects using the Hohem Joy app. It won’t use the hardware AI as it’s all done within the Hohem Joy app. 👊🏽

Great video, thanks a lot. As a real estate photographer i make a lot of videos of houses as well, just quick and cheap videos with a phone and gimbal. And with my DJI Osmo the head of the horizontal arm (that's holding the phone) comes into the screen whenever i make a pan and 'suddenly' stop or when i reverse the angle, so when making a S-pattern down a hallwall into a living room for example. The head at the end of the arm of this gimbal looks like it protrudes less forward, so im hoping it doesnt show up when filming in ultra wide. Did you ever notice this happening with this gimbal?

It balances ok with my Comica Vimo S plugged into the phone, but I guess it depends on how heavy your lens and filters are. If you’re not using a lens or filter then it will be ok. 👊🏽
Not sure what you mean, but at 7:42 in the video I used a wireless mic with the AI sensor in my kitchen. The receiver is mounted at the bottom of the iphone on the gimbal. Pleae go back and check that out.

Your set includes both the USB-C to USB-C cable and USB-C to USB-A. I bought mine from Amazon UK and it only comes with the former. Anyone in UK has bought a set that includes both?

I’m not sure what you mean, are you referring to the USB-C port on the gimbal or the phone? The gimbal doesn’t need usb-c to do basic functions. It connects to the phone/app using Bluetooth.
Sorry, I'm not sure, but I'm pretty sure that this will only work with human faces. For this, youy would be better using the object tracking in the app rather than the hardware AI sensor on this Gimbal.

The record button only works with the Hohem app. As far as I’m aware, they don’t state that any of the gimbal controls work with any other apps like instagram.

By screw on mic, I’m assuming it’s a cold shoe mic. You will have to use a quarter inch arm with a cold show port on the other end. This can screw into the quarter inch port on the side of the gimbal.

Thanks, I beleive the galaxy s22 ultra is 229g and with this isteady M6 having a payload capacity of 400g, this gimbal will definitely hold the weight of that phone. It also holds a mobile width of up to 98mm, which again should be no problem for the galaxy s22 ultra.

M6 for me. I returned the flow. The Tripod on the flow is so dam flimsy your constantly thinking when will the legs snap 😞. The tilt up and down are extremely limited making it imposible to get low angle moving up shots. You have to take a low angle shot adjust the gimbal and shoot up higher. The tracking is great but it only works with the 360 software. The selfie stick is a plus but you can add that to the M6. Hope that helps.

When I was doing my testing, I was about 15 feet away, but I’m pretty sure it will track you a lot further away. If I get a chance to, I’ll try and test this out for you. 👊🏽

Hi , I just bought this one and while looking at tutorial video I was testing it out when suddenly I realized the middle motor was getting really hot .....probably not supposed to happen?
@ShootSmartphone yeah found the cause meanwhile....I was the cause 😂 if you flick it in a particular way it goes from horizontal to vertical position ....I probably tried it to long to much that the motor got hot ......obviously I don't try it anymore 😁 but thanks for replying 👍

I'm deciding between this and the Zhiyun Smooth 5s and reading comments in other videos, someone mentioned that when using the zoom button, it's not an optical zoom but a digital zoom, to switch cameras you should enter the menu manually, etc. Different from the OM6 or Zhiyun Smooth 5s for example. In 'Real Life' is it a big loss not being able to switch between lenses....really used in the same shot? Would it be better to choose Zhiyun Smooth 5s for that reason?
This is correct and both the Smooth 5s and OM6 have FilmicPro integration. This is important for you then you should consider getting the Smooth 5s. My view is that it’s not a big deal. I rarely switch lenses in this way.
this isn’t the first time Ive watched one of your vid’s. AND this one is just what I was looking for (I hope😮). I only got iPhone 14 pro Max but its not handing itself on the OSMO 6‼️especially with Moment lens and ND set up😢. I looked up its native app and not good feedback it seems. Also, not sure if you mentioned this but will it integrate with the Moment app and Camera P3 Pro camera app??? I have just 👍 and sub’d……
Thanks, and this gimbal does have a higher payload than the Osmo 6, but I've not tried it with the Moment Lens and Filter. I know those can get quite heavy. There is no app interrogation with this GImbal, but I use FilmicPro and although there is no integration as such, I can still use the record button to start and stop from the gimbal which is all I need.

That’s interesting because I don’t have any specific hardware toggle for FilmicPro for this gimbal. Maybe it’s not available in the UK version of the app.
What the pan range when holding the gimbal handle parallal to the ground? Can it do 90 degrees to the side, or will the camera hit the back of the gimbal?

Hi, I have an iphone 14 pro max with an ND filter and I use a zhiyun smooth 5. I notice that sometimes it doesn't stabilise too well (maybe because of the weight). Do you think that with this Hohem M6 I won't have this problem? Thanks
This gimbal has a max payload of 400g and it’s better than the Smooth 5, but what case and filter are you using? If I have the combination I can try and test it for you.

I wish they added a built-in selfie stick like the insta 360 flow. I would switch right away and return the flow, but the selfie stick is a game changer for some shots, and it's kind of lame this gimbal is so short in comparison.
You can easily use an selfie extension grip and screw it into the bottom, which is better in my view as you can get some extension polls that can go up 3 meters long for fake drone type shots. I’m not a fan of the built in selfie stick feature in most gimbals. They never seem to be long enough.
It's a great question, but it really depends on your personal preference. The Smooth5 has Fimic Pro integration which makes it more usable, but the M6 has lots of better features over he Smooth5. It feels like I should do a video comparing the both. At this moment, I would have to lean towards the M6.

I’m specifically answering the question for the iPhone 14 Pro Max because it’s the most popular smartphone amongst my subscribers, but… You can use this gimbal with any smartphone just fine. 👊🏽
Thanks for the video! New subscriber here. I’m an avid photographer, but just getting into videography. I have a 14 Pro Max and this one sounds like the perfect match to hold the phone plus accessories. Plus being able to see the screen outside is a huge plus over the other models. I have the Zhiyun Smooth 5S, but can’t see the dang mode light when outside. I’m not huge fan of their app, which switches the mode if you accidentally touch the screen and enable tracking.
I can’t comment as I’m a iPhone user, but it’s pretty universal and fits most big phones. Also, the Hohem Joy App is available on the Google Play store.

Hey, so I love Sandmarc, they do great filters, but my current go to filter system is the Sherpa kit from FREEWELL. But, what I would say is that it depends on whether you want to use lenses or not. If you want to use lenses and filters, then you might be better off going with Sandmarc as you can use their cases with both. The FREEWELL Sherpa filter system doesn’t allow use of a full set of lenses. They only have an anamorphic lens at the moment. I hope his helps. 👊🏽

Yeah I’m pretty sure you won’t get that problem with this gimbal as you can swing the arm around when shooting ultra wide.

Might be a daft question - but what is the circle shaped attachment over your iPhone lens?
It’s an ND filter. It allows me to shoot fully manual and keep a 360 degree shutter angel by reducing the light coming into the camera sensor. 👊🏽

Without knowing the brands you’re using it’s hard to give you an answer. What I would say is that has a maximum payload capacity of 400g.

Excellent video and channel! thanks! I'm deciding between this and the Zhiyun Smooth 5s and reading comments in other videos, someone mentioned that when using the zoom button, it's not an optical zoom but a digital zoom, to switch cameras you should enter the menu manually, etc. Different from the OM6 or Zhiyun Smooth 5s for example.
In 'Real Life' is it a big loss not being able to switch between lenses....really used in the same shot? Would it be better to choose Zhiyun Smooth 5s for that reason?
This is correct and both the Smooth 5s and OM6 have FilmicPro integration. This is important for you then you should consider getting the Smooth 5s.
My view is that it’s not a big deal. I rarely switch lenses in this way.
this isn’t the first time Ive watched one of your vid’s. AND this one is just what I was looking for (I hope😮). I only got iPhone 14 pro Max but its not handing itself on the OSMO 6‼️especially with Moment lens and ND set up😢. I looked up its native app and not good feedback it seems. Also, not sure if you mentioned this but will it integrate with the Moment app and Camera P3 Pro camera app??? I have just 👍 and sub’d……
Thanks, and this gimbal does have a higher payload than the Osmo 6, but I've not tried it with the Moment Lens and Filter. I know those can get quite heavy.
There is no app interrogation with this GImbal, but I use FilmicPro and although there is no integration as such, I can still use the record button to start and stop from the gimbal which is all I need.
@@ShootSmartphone thanks for reply. I've just looked at the gimbal official online site. Had a 'messenger' chat and 1. Filmic Pro is completely usable by going into Filmic Pro settings and toggle it on. 2. They have no plans to integrate with any other video app any time soon 🥜's
That’s interesting because I don’t have any specific hardware toggle for FilmicPro for this gimbal. Maybe it’s not available in the UK version of the app.

What the pan range when holding the gimbal handle parallal to the ground? Can it do 90 degrees to the side, or will the camera hit the back of the gimbal?

Hi, I have an iphone 14 pro max with an ND filter and I use a zhiyun smooth 5. I notice that sometimes it doesn't stabilise too well (maybe because of the weight).
Do you think that with this Hohem M6 I won't have this problem? Thanks
This gimbal has a max payload of 400g and it’s better than the Smooth 5, but what case and filter are you using? If I have the combination I can try and test it for you.

Hey, unfortunately not. The buttons only work with the Hohem app.

I use FilmicPro almost 90% of the time. Using a pro App makes a massive difference over the standard camera app on the iPhone.

what do you recommend insta flow or hohem ?
Hohem for me.
I wish they added a built-in selfie stick like the insta 360 flow. I would switch right away and return the flow, but the selfie stick is a game changer for some shots, and it's kind of lame this gimbal is so short in comparison.
You can easily use an selfie extension grip and screw it into the bottom, which is better in my view as you can get some extension polls that can go up 3 meters long for fake drone type shots.
I’m not a fan of the built in selfie stick feature in most gimbals. They never seem to be long enough.

You can use any grip that uses the standard 1/4 inch screw. The insta 360 selfie stick is my go to.

It's a great question, but it really depends on your personal preference. The Smooth5 has Fimic Pro integration which makes it more usable, but the M6 has lots of better features over he Smooth5. It feels like I should do a video comparing the both.
At this moment, I would have to lean towards the M6.

Actually, after comparing the two.. the M6 feels smoother and somehow better to handle. Besides the extra features. I will return the Smooth 5S.

Thanks for the video! New subscriber here. I’m an avid photographer, but just getting into videography. I have a 14 Pro Max and this one sounds like the perfect match to hold the phone plus accessories. Plus being able to see the screen outside is a huge plus over the other models. I have the Zhiyun Smooth 5S, but can’t see the dang mode light when outside. I’m not huge fan of their app, which switches the mode if you accidentally touch the screen and enable tracking.
Still all smartphone gimbals are not optimized for android. Only works well on IOS. Crap!
I can’t comment as I’m a iPhone user, but it’s pretty universal and fits most big phones. Also, the Hohem Joy App is available on the Google Play store.

Hey, so I love Sandmarc, they do great filters, but my current go to filter system is the Sherpa kit from FREEWELL.
But, what I would say is that it depends on whether you want to use lenses or not. If you want to use lenses and filters, then you might be better off going with Sandmarc as you can use their cases with both.
The FREEWELL Sherpa filter system doesn’t allow use of a full set of lenses. They only have an anamorphic lens at the moment. I hope his helps. 👊🏽

Yes, 400g. Please keep in mind that this is a smartphone gimbal, it’s not going to compete with something like the rs3 mini.
