You can tell your old man is just a stand up guy, sense of humor too 🤣.

I rather enjoyed this video. Nice to see the new generation can survive and function away from their smart phones for a while. PS - also great parenting!!!!

That site on Killarney Lake was the site I spent my very first night in Killarney as well as my very first bear encounter....but despite the bear forcing us from that site, I fell in love with Killarney from then on.

Wild Canoes back in late May of 2013 I believe. It was a learning experience :)

Wild Canoes well the first sitting was shortly after sunset...I was with my two kids (7 and 10) and wife at the time. It was beyond the tree line over 100 feet away at least. But we heard it scratching around on some trees. I grabbed some tin cups and started making some lowed noises and it went away. We went back to bed and then it got really dark and we heard that scratching noise again and now I couldn’t see it anymore. I tried making more noise but it didn’t sound like it was going away and possibly it was getting closer, so we left our site and paddled across the bay with sleeping bags in hand....lol. There was a father and daughter at the site across the bay and they welcomed us to their site although their tent was way too small to accommodate, but luckily he had a bear banger and spray and offered to go back with me to grab my tent which we did. The next morning we got to now our “rescuers” a little and then returned to our site only to find zero evidence that a bear ever crossed the tree onto our site...there was though many scratches on the tree from which I hung my barrel although thankfully that was it. There was a possibility that my kids had put their hand all over the barrel after eating a bunch of trail mix and also the ring on the barrel was giving lots of trouble so is may not have been 100% closed. At the end of the day no harm no foul...although since then my daughter refuses to do any camping of any sorts unless she can sleep in the vehicle and obviously never backcountry camping lol
