  • The Liberian dollar is the nation’s official currency. So, why do so many Liberians use US dollars for everyday transactions?
A dual currency system has existed in Liberia since the late 1800s. Professor Leigh Gardner from the Department of Economic History at LSE has examined the government’s struggle to re-assert the Liberian dollar over time. Her research was the subject of a physical display in the Value of Money exhibition at the National Museum of American History.

Lebanon is in a similar situation. The US dollar is widely used because the lebanese pound is so undervalued.

Anglophone west Africa should be organised and start for the common currency ECO to be strong as francophone west Africa currency CEFA.

Instead of them organizing around ECO, a non existent currency. Why don’t they come together and organize around an existing currency like the Liberia Dollar?
It is easier and faster to adopt and transform an existing currency than to seek agreement for the creation of the ECO.

Right… I bet Liberians are so jealous of us being gunned down & beat to death in the streets like animals by racist white cops. Who wouldn’t want to live under white supremacy??😅
