Jane's Addiction Fight Explained: Perry Farrell Attacks Dave Navarro in Boston

- In today’s video, we’re diving deep into the shocking onstage altercation between Jane’s Addiction members Perry Farrell and Dave Navarro during their Boston concert on September 13, 2024. The mid-performance punch sent shockwaves through the crowd, abruptly ending the show and leaving fans wondering about the future of the band. What led to this explosive moment? Let’s take a closer look at the build-up, from Farrell’s frustration with stage sound issues to his struggles with tinnitus and vocal problems.
I’m a huge Jane’s Addiction fan and had the privilege of interviewing Perry's wife, Etty Lau Farrell, on the Inspired Money podcast. Perry even made a surprise appearance.
Photographer Brian MacKenzie, who was at the Boston show, initially thought the altercation was part of the act. Fans, too, were left guessing - was this real, or just an overblown stunt? After two minutes, it was clear: the show was over, with no encore. The tension in the band had been brewing, and according to Etty Lau Farrell’s Instagram post, Perry was battling more than just high stage volume. He’d been dealing with tinnitus and a sore throat, adding to his mounting frustration.
But there’s more. Just days after the incident, Jane’s Addiction released an official statement:
“Due to a continuing pattern of behavior and the mental health difficulties of our singer Perry Farrell, we have no choice but to discontinue the current US tour. Our concern for his personal health and safety as well as our own has left us no alternative. We deeply regret that we are not able to come through for all our fans who have already bought tickets. We can see no solution that would ensure a safe environment on stage or allow us to deliver a great performance consistently. Our hearts are broken.” - Dave, Eric, and Stephen
Throughout this video, we’ll also cover fan reactions, explore footage from previous shows, and break down what really happened during the altercation. Is this the end for Jane’s Addiction? Watch to find out!
Let me know your thoughts in the comments - can the band move forward after this, or was this fight inevitable? Don’t forget to like, share, and subscribe.

He was using custom molded In Ear Monitors, which block virtually all stage volume out. So that is an out and out lie. At his age, you cannot drink alcohol, even a little while pushing your voice, it dries out the vocal cords. At 65, you can't go and tour and act like you did in your 20's and expect to bounce back from that abuse. He was drunk and frustrated that his voice was shot, no one's fault but his own. The irony is, Dave and the band were trying to help him and he mistook the gesture and verbally attacked them then attacked Dave.
100%. And Etty, being a little bird on Perry's shoulder all tour whispering "the fans are saying they can't hear you over the band". Maybe even hinting that Dave and Eric are in on it.
@@yorkeoldfather3146 No doubt. Tour life is physically grueling, no matter what your age.
Well Mick and Iggy are still giving it a blast past their 70's. Incredible!

Dave is one of the sweetest guys I have met. This makes me so sad.
The real problem is that it is not 1990 anymore
Bet it's just to get Perry in a Boston hospital 👀
Facts
The real problem is drugs and entitlement mixed with the mental issues that doing drugs everyday for 40 years brings you…quit entitling this boob.
Trainwreck Ferrell left the station for Boston and crashed later that evening on stage
have Perry relapsed again like is he drinking or back on drugs or something
So glad to be sober now.
I am glad to be sober too, taking it one day at a time. Congratulations to you.
He's also mental.
Me too. Thank God.

@@artscollab yeah man, same to you. It’s nice to have made it this far in life, and ended up OK. I sort of look around at times and think, at least I can cope with all of this sober. It took a long time to get here. :)
Farrell had in-ear monitors. He could have any mix his precious ass wanted. As far as the room, that's up to the FOH mixer. I call bullshit.
Yes, I have been in bands and used IEM's. They are noise cancelling. He should've had any mix he wanted in his personal monitors.
I use custom in-ear monitors live, and they do block most, but not all of the stage sound. Nonetheless, I can tell when the sound levels are off…particularly when doing the vocals. IMHO, the sound engineers and Perry were not on the same page. Not the fault of the band.
@@darrenmashl5706 exactly being in a band is like being forced to work and live with your brothers. That’s only one dynamic. It’s not even a big deal what happened on stage. Hey, Dave, Eric, Stephen. I could sing AND hit the entire range. Plus, Dave, I'm acquainted with your cousin Jassara. She's cool. J/S
Yep, his frustrations I think were born out of the fact his voice is toast. Drinking wouldn’t have helped.
Why didnt he get angry with the sound engineer?
Perry has been bringing double bottles of red wine on stage for 30 years now and he drinks it straight from the bottle. I’ve been it many times. He definitely drinks a lot when performing and I’ve never seen him without one. In other acts too.
Thanks for your comment,@@dannabanana52. He’s not the first and won’t be the last.
@@InspiredMoney I love him, I just hope he can get healthy again. We all age.
That's right. I've seen it too. Usually he's happy
It's likely not the wine, but what's in it. It's probably a charade to get'em in a Boston hospital, and because of the power struggle between Dave's crew and whoever else is involved.
I know a lot of blondes don't have a good time around Dave, as a possibly unrelated concept
Add rampant Oxycontin addiction to that wine
the volume thing is absolute bullshit.
I bet Eric has been holding onto those gut punches for years
I thought the same thing. Eric was holding onto those for 33 years.
Perry is an alcoholic. How unfortunate for the band and the fans that night. Dave is always a professional. Great report subbed
Thanks, @lilirishgrl. It was unfortunate. The band sounded great.

@@beakiddo5251 no.
Etty says: "fans in the front row were complaining the band is too loud". That's just Etty being told what she and Perry want to hear from her friends. So they drip fed that to him during the tour, driving his paranoia that the band was undermining him by secretly working with the sound crew to drown him out.
Age gap between Etty and Perry?
@@tmmartinesq.6216 Maybe 15 years? 🤷🏻♂️

Regarding Mountain Song. The guitar and bass in that song are very heavy and muddy. Perry has to scream those lyrics to punch through that. Perry just can't scream anymore. That's the problem with trying to perform music you performed in your 20s. You aren't 20 anymore :)
Unfortunately, Perry just can't sing anymore, full stop. I saw them earlier this year and it was one if the best nights of my life (I never thought I'd get the chance to see Janes Addiction live, never mind seeing the original line up), but Ferrell couldn't hit or hold the notes.
@@graceb3934 Whenever I listen to the 1990s recordings, I can’t believe the vocals.
@InspiredMoney The guy's had a nose job and that can definitely affect his voice
I mean you shouldn't have to scream though.. you can EQ & mix the instruments and vocals accordingly.. this isn't some small venue where the FOH Monitors are too small and the band is overpowering them.. this is a huge venue.. if that is happening they should fire that foh mixer
@@avalondreaming1433 that’s a good point I didn’t think of that
1. I saw them in Pittsburgh in the 1990's with a bottle of wine in hand and it was one of the best shows that I have seen. 2. Don't they have a sound engineer in charge of the shows? 3. Obviously, Perry is falling apart... A risk that many artists take when they go exploring.

Perry, it's never too late to heal. You don't have to go out like this. You must grow and survive, just like when you were a kid. YOU CAN DO IT AGAIN.
Thank u for saying this. Sometimes it’s easy to think you are just too old for any change and want to give up.
Also you can bask in the sun. In the fame that once you had. He doesn't need to keep doing these tours at his age. He was a God at one point. Its maybe over.
John Lydon survived so...!

The sound man working the mixing board should be able to turn up the vocals. Don't take it out on your band, Perry has serious problems and has misguided anger. His band is not the problem, Perry needs to take better care of himself and not throw hissy fits.

Being in a band is hard. Touring with that band is even harder. Touring with that band while being senior citizens is even harder still. Touring with that band while being senior citizens and having an addict senior citizen as a frontman must be damn near impossible.
Perry was lost and 100% not sober
He got mad because Navarro's solo was louder than his grunting into the mic? 😅😂
It always astounds me how so-called intelligent people dont equate their continued existence with their bodily health. Some people never grow up, and are only adult in age.
"Yeah its a real mystery, I trashed myself non-stop for 40 years, treated my body like a toilet, and then it betrayed me! So unfair"
Physical health, mental health, financial health, and spiritual health. If one falters, your overall health suffers.
just remove "Jane's" from the name and tour as Addiction.
Sobriety is the best decision I have ever made
That’s great to hear.
best breakdown of this situation so far
On the bright side, maybe we will see a P For Pyros tour soon?
You dont cancel a tour because its too loud one night.
Let me get this straight. The band was so loud that the fans couldn't hear Perry, but HE could hear THEM complaining that it was too loud? And I've never been at a concert by a well known group where bunches of people were complaining about the volume. Heck, not even in a pub with a cover band with their volume super loud.
Its absurd that people never complain about the loud volume. That means a carte blanche for bands to turn up the volume. There is a level where you cant hear the music anymore and hearing loss cam never be recovered.
Hahahaha what clubs have been you been going to ? Ahahahaha
Ac/dc played very loud. I tried 3 times to see them. Always left after the canons, bells and or angus’s solo lol just to loud and I like loud!
@@rockarver Over the years, MANY. What clubs do YOU go to where people complain about volume? Church doesn't count bro.
@@Sharkwhisperer I agree that it's absurd that people don't complain about loud volume. And lots of people do absurd things. And still, if Janes Addiction has a sound team that doesn't know how to manage the sound level, that's sad as well. Let's face it- Perry got a few rusted and loose screws. If the sound level was wrong, why punch the guitarist? That makes no sense at all.
Farrells a damaged old rockstar that can't sing or perform well anymore but it looks like the world is starved for Rocknroll news
Farrel seemed irritated every time Dave cued him for his solo.
You think? I thought he looked fine about it at the New York shows, but he was mad in Boston.
Perry's weird old man dementia is really showing in this video clip. it's like watching grandpa have one of his freakouts.
I was there. I think it’s over
Maybe… Dave and Perry: “Let’s pretend to get into a fight after I tell you all to FU… then you pretend to quit the band by writing just “goodbye” and it will be a HUGE story in the media…” Unlikely scenario but you never know. The amount of publicity from this “act” is monumental on a certain level.
Anything is possible these days but I’ll take it all at face value.
I have tinnitus. I've had it all my life as far back as I can remember. I'm 61, now. High pitched squealing sound in my ears. Never goes away.
That's what people don't understand about it. No matter how loud of an environment I happen to be in, whether a concert, raceway, or factory, the squealing is always heard on top of it. It can't be drowned out.
@@OttoByOgraffey Thanks for sharing your experience.
Many, many people have it.
I've slept with a fan on for years to focus on something falling asleep and now chill music on top! Tinnitus sucks. Mine was caused by 90s raving and free parties with huge speaker stacks/wall of sound etc. Then I got Labyrinthitas about 10 years ago. It has settled but there's the odd morning I get up and nearly fall over due to vertigo - feels like a hangover without alcohol. The mighty ear may be a smaller body part but it sure packs a punch on our bodies when the ear/ears plays up 😢
Winos are the worst. Dave is a class act, because I can think of a few guitar players that would have beaten that fevered ego to death with his own mic stand.
How professional Eric was? Giving Perry cheap shots in the gut? Ridiculous
That was the best part
I had front row tickets to see them in Bridgeport, CT.. which was the next show after Boston! So disappointing!
@@13ranzz Oh man. I’m sorry to hear that.

Perry has a bottle of wine on stage at every show for many many years
@@dinoparton6598 Punk rock!
Years?!? DECADES!!! I saw him completely wreck the vibe at John Anson Ford Theater in April 1989 by singing “Hava Nagila” in the middle of “Chip Away,” then launching into a 5+ minute rambling, drunken tangent about reconnecting with his Jewish roots, bottle of wine in hand. APRIL 1989, ffs!!!!! And every time I’ve seen them since, with varying results.
This is nothing new. On the contrary, it’s gotten pretty old!

Dave dropped him back in late 91 early 92 when they first broke up backstage for shooting up H. Dave talks about it on multiple interviews as well as Eric Avery.
It looks Dave realized Perry's vocal are low so he's signaling to Perry he's going to do a solo while giving Perry time to figure out his volume levels.

Yes, that initial interaction/hand signal from Navarro looks very much done in a "I got you bro" way. He was trying to be helpful. I was at the Boston show and have seen them a bunch of times. Perry almost always has a bottle of wine with him. He absolutely did not have one on stage in Boston on 9/13/2024. I didn’t even see him take a drink of anything during the show. It seems to me like cognitive issues.
Interesting. Thank you for sharing.
So sad, but an proud of the way Dave acted. Am sure Perry feels embarrassed and I hope he gets the help he needs. One day at a time.
Perry is the oldest. It’s clear he’s getting agitated with feeling like they’re babying him. All people go through this when they become senior citizens, and still want to be independent. Alcohol just fueled the fire. Goodnight….until Eric and Dave get Deconstruction back together.
💯
I haven’t heard of Deconstruction. Maybe I should check that out
Dave N. is 57. He's no baby. If he worked a regular job, most would consider him a senior citizen. Plus he has the money to sustain a youthful look. 8 years difference is not much after 50, even less after 55 in my opinion. My ex is 6 years older, but he's in better shape than me. People think bc I need aide in walking that I'm older. I'm 59. My ex is 65 .
@@zaragardner I didn’t mean Perry is like that. Just that he might think they’re treating him that way. The fact that Dave is close too probably makes it even more agitating for Perry.

Drugs,Mental issues,Health problems? Hope Perry get help for whatever. Respect for Dave for keepin a cool head. I sure would not have..
Her speaking for him tells the whole story. I wonder if Perry even wanted to tour.
Perry has since apologized but it's too little too late. What a sad way to go out. I saw a lot of comments here saying that Perry should have talked to the sound engineer backstage, etc, etc. Yes, maybe so, however, people should take a second to ask themselves WHY he may have been low in the mix. Many fans have commented that during live shows this time around, Perry's performances have been bad. Sloppy, missed time cues, out of tune, forgetting lyrics, strained voice, slurring his words (possibly due to alcohol) etc. The working theory is that the band mates and the people in charge of running the shows turned Perry down a bit in the mix to help mask his bad performances while everyone else had to perform at their absolute a-game. I certainly can't rule out Perry's wife or any of his friends getting in his ear about the whole thing, making him angrier, and if so, that's a crappy thing to do. But Perry is an adult who should old enough to know better than to handle things this way. It's nice that he said he takes full responsibility and all, but clearly the rest of the band has had enough now that all of the remaining dates are cancelled. Again, sad way to go out.
He got embarrassed because of his hearting problems. He took it out on Navarro . Should own up to it . Apologize. Makes him look small .
@@becky6568 PF did apologize. Hopefully, he said it in person too.
@@InspiredMoney That’s great to hear .
Why didn't you also mention the fact Etty said "Eric A took advantage of the situation and got in a few cheap shots on Perry"? A few "cheap shots" sounds like Eric was punching Perry in the scuffle.
Thanks for your comment. I suppose I didn’t it break down a blow by blow. From watching the video and reading different accounts, it sounds like Eric punched Perry in the stomach three times while Perry was hitting him with the microphone. I’m not sure of the sequence.
I saw JA at Stone Pony Summer stage a few years ago. Perry's sound was turned down SO much, I walked over to the sound guy in the back and gave him the WTF sign. However, Perry doesn't have to scream to be heard, that's not how sound PAs work. He coulda just told the sound engineer to turn him up, IF he couldn't control it himself from the stage. If I had to guess, the band or management told the sound guy to keep Perry low in the mix if he was having trouble staying on key as he sometimes does.
That's probably right. Or their sound guy may make an executive decision.
I dot know but perry woz wrong down to sound engineer
I suffer from Tinnitus. It can cause depression, sleep loss and is hard to deal with.
As a musician I use in ear monitors these days.
It’s sounds very challenging to manage and deal with.
Somebody clearly made the decision to turn Perry's mic down. Imagine metaphorically what that could be interpreted to mean in our complicated world. How many people wanted to see the show continue, knowing that Perry was in an altered state? 100% of those in attendance that evening. And how many would have liked to see the tour continue, perhaps with the expectation that Perry would be an ongoing, unpredictable experiment? 100%, again. This is exactly what fans are looking for. I do believe his microphone was turned down. His wife even said that on social media. However, we do not know who made the decision to turn it down. Was it one sound guy independently deciding that Perry needed to be turned down? Or was it more of a collective band decision? That is what I currently do not know about. It's possible that Perry accused Dave of being one of the conspirators who turned the microphone down, although it is possible Dave was not involved with the microphone being turned down. If the band was strong enough what they would do is decide to continue, knowing that his voice will be all over the place. Fans need to hear him try. Secondly, you make the addition of a volume adjuster so that Perry can be in charge of how loud he is on stage. Isn't that funny that the lead singer of this band wasn't able to adjust his microphone volume himself? You'd think that he would be able to because he is the lead singer and that seems like an obvious thing he'd be able to do. He can't though. And this entire disagreement stemmed from that! Get that man his own microphone! Continue Perry! Somebody, at least, deep-fake 12 more videos of the remaining tour shows with Perry singing real bad so we can all be happy.
@@ChristmasPhone-e5s Only the inner circle knows. In the venues that they perform in, it’s really impossible for the lead singer to control his volume. Also, what Perry hears in his in ear monitors on stage could be completely different from what the audience hears in their seats. BTW, I like your idea of a deep fake final run of shows.
They did this on purpose to get attention for the song that dropped today. All for views and #’s. If you can’t see that, you’re ignorant by choice.
Why's he so mad? I wonder if it was it something that Jane said 🤔

Sad thing is that a band that had their heyday in 1990 having an onstage fight is the most relevant thing happening in rock music in 2024.
I’ve heard they have had a history of this kind of thing in the band. Also, substance abuse / anger management aside, if Perry has bad tinnitus is doesn’t make sense to be in front of super loud amps and drums every night. That would drive anybody crazy… I hope they figure it out. They’re such an amazing and unique band. I’ve always been mesmerized by their sound.
Substance abuse u reckon? In their book that is pretty much all you hear about, the drug problems , which they didn't view as problems back then
I just went to find tickets and its all cancelled. What a waste of a ton of good press. They sounded there good too
It’s a bummer that the remaining shows were canceled.
Farrell has always been so full of himself. That’s a well known behavior of his, but up until that last tour and the Boston fiasco, he was always putting people in a good mood at shows and was a hell of a frontman in that respect. He never was a very skilled singer, going rather for the punk approach in that regard.
But as inexcusable as his pathetic meltdown was, he is the singer and also by far the oldest of the band. So personally I would not fully discredit that element of his explanation. I was a singer myself and it can be very frustrating when the rest of the band continually drowns you out in decibels.
Well, what do you know !? Everybody wants to shine brighter in a Rock band.
Sad last chapter ( potentially ) for such an influential band.
Well said. It could be the last chapter.
Was it the bass player punching Perry in the guts lol,Id say this was simmering below the surface then he goes to support Dave
I'm hopeful that Jane's will come back again after a much needed break for perry, if he gets sober and treatment. They were much more volatile in the 90s when they were all junked out. Perry apologized to his bandmates on IG, and hopefully he did so in real life esp to dave. Perry has drank bottles of wine at each show for the past 30 years and has mostly been fine, so it's surprising that it escalated so quickly all of a sudden, but father time always wins. He can't pretend he's a 30 year old rockstar anymore. It's still confusing why he got so mad at dave. In one of the videos for mountain song at nyc, perry sings over one of dave's solos, so i think that's why dave was being more proactive during that song to let perry know since that song is repetitive. During the boston show when they were playing mountain song, dave went up to eric and said something, probably about perry getting lost in that song, and perry seemed annoyed that they were talking about him and started singing aggressively at dave. Dave and eric looked annoyed/concerned/nervous about perry. Also, for everyone saying eric took cheap shots at perry, that's just etty's version of the story. She wasn't there on stage. It seems to me like eric was trying to grab the mic outta perry's hand so he doesn't hit anyone with it.

It is SAD. The 90s material will always be in my heart, I didn't care about the last two releases. But I would hate to see it end like this. After 40 fkn years, find a way to be brothers. I do think this is 99% Perry's fault (inverse pun not intended). But... I can't process this. Guess I am blessed to not yet have to deal with such an unstable person.
I recall around the time of Song Yet to Be Sung, he spoke of friends advising "find a way to heal", which I think prompted him to embrace his religious roots. Agnostic, myself. But dayum, Perry. Run back to religion if that's what it will take. The band cares about you. Do you care about yourself?
Tinnitus sucks. I'm a DJ, I've got it. Sounds like a buzz and sometimes it's a roaring or whooshing pulse. My DJ partner has it too (ringing). I don't do much for mine, but his is so often that he drinks and uses Klonopin pretty heavily to deal with it. It was a powder keg with a little fuse from the start of the tour. Perry will try to recover from this because he has to. If not, JA gonna be looking for a new singer. Truth is... once your hearing gets fkd, so do you. All he does is scream, so I'm not shocked by this.
I saw Iggy Pop do a similar stunt with band members at a concert in Calgary in the 80's. As per customary ways with Iggy's band they all got over it before breakfast the next day.
There's a life lesson in there somewhere.
IDK about his politics and as a bandmate for 30 years IVE seen this Shit, happens to every band BUT with no stage violence That may have not be Navaro's fault. We always showed up hours early for a sound check to get it the sound right. Can't understand that. I would say it is not mental health cause those bandmates are not Drs. They just hang out way too much in the small RV I assume by the show dates. I'm not really a fan of Navaro he kind of F cked the peppers. The man needs forgiveness as at 65 he finally got pissed. Bad look but come on. Bad press is good press
As a former heroin addict I can attest to a thing called a “Dope Voice” and that Perry Farrell, when speaking in between songs Definitely had Dope Voice
I remember that. You get that raspy thing happening. Sure don't miss those days.
Wow, this was really well done. Explained a lot. Great video.
@@rad_brainz Thanks, man.
Sorry but he has a predetermined in ear mix of exactly what he wants to hear and at what volume
You also have pre show sound check
During the gig every aspect of sound is controlled by the sound engineer on the mixing board
Can’t blame Dave
I suspect there are more layers to it but will never know.
Who has every complained a concert was to loud
The problems have been building the entire tour
Someone above made the statement. It's not the '90s anymore. While I agree with that a statement, it needs more elaboration. While Perry seems to be having health issues of hearing and vocalization maybe he should consider changing it up. To an acoustic show and maybe a smaller venue. To alleviate his hearing problem and saving on his voice.
I can understand that they're trying to earn money. These options might not be what they're looking for. I wish Perry all the best.
I appreciate your creative solution. Would love to see it myself.
The sound being too loud is not the band's fault that's the fault of the sound engineer. If Perry is mad he needs to take that up with them not his band members
Like others have said , very little chance it was a stage volume issue . Eric and Dave would be using the same amp volume each night to get uniform sound . Perry has in ear monitors and could get any mix he wanted just by asking an engineer . If there were FOH issues nobody on stage would know . ANY seasoned musician knows you don't ask audience members their opinion of the FOH sound because you'll get 100 different answers depending on where they are in the venue . You want the best sound you go stand by the sound booth and hear what they are hearing . I do believe he was told that though by some front row fans and in his state of mind took it personal . He's always drank wine onstage . A standard bottle 750ml is equal to 4 strong beers . Not a lot when spread over an hour set . Any pro singer knows you have to care for your voice , especially at his age . So that part does make the wine a bit of an issue . You need rest after each show, no talking or heavy smoking etc. Certain narcotics will dry your cords out as well. Dave was staring because he wanted Perry to look at him so he could signal the solo , my guess is yes that is their usual move because the song is kind of a jam song. When players cross stage and yell in each others ears they are trying to problem solve on the fly . In this case on this tour Perry was the problem . I hope he gets right and tries again though . Sober or at least mostly sober musicians play far better than messed up ones . It's just the messed up ones can't tell how bad they sound
Good understanding of live sound. Don't overlook the fact that these rumored unhappy fans down front would have been on the rail with Dave's amps firing straight at their heads. Of course they were hearing more guitar than vocals. I don't see any aux speakers along the front edge of the stage for those folks so it could have been the case that they were getting blasted with guitar while things sounded fine further back in the room.
Just a sad story here i thought everyone was pretty chill after what happened
Agreed
Perry has always been a nut and gone full speed. Once you get older that kind of thing just gets sad.
He was actually a peaceful intelligent man back in 90s, probably still I but has alot of haters in this new generation.
Thank you for making it clear..
That explains allot better than I read before. He had his reasons, buzzed or not.
Nothing like the power trios and other great groups from the 60s and 70s who got on stage playing with their heart and soul wanting to share the music with their audience keeping their differences to themselves
Frankly, there really doesn't need to be a singer with the volume that loud. I honestly couldn't hear him sing...but in all honesty...I don't know what he/they normally sounds like at a performance. But Perry, obviously flipped out a 'bit'. If the volume was a problem, that should have been handled days/weeks ago. All the previous clips/shows sounded similar. Volume to me seems like a week excuse....unless he continually was told "no, the volume if fine." Which I also doubt. There has to be more do it.
@@cscotet4202 There usually is more to it behind the scenes. And likely a build up of several things.
Perry could have and should have communicated his issue with sound folks, not taken it out on Dave. Unfortunately, it looks like the frustration may have been magnified by wine consumption and not just a volume problem. Perry is a fiery dude under the best of circumstances.
However, Perry does seem to be having issues with his voice. He hasn’t been able to hit those high notes for a long time often times performing crooner style vocals on many songs. You can hear him struggle to sing in practically any performance in recent years. Those high notes are inhuman from a vocal standpoint.
Furthermore, even though Perry can’t sing like Perry at his height of power, no one else can either. His voice was one of the most unique in modern music.
I hope Perry gets whatever help he needs. These guys will survive and honestly, Jane’s had an historic run! No shame in that body of work.
Well done video here!
@@darthdurkelthewise320 Vocal training and proper technique also help with longevity. Rock, punk, and alternative singers may not think to turn to a vocal coach but it can help.
The volume is too loud then tell the sound man
Drugs, alcohol, age plus Farrell wanted to do a "Free Bird" cover and Navarro said no.
Here's an idea: talk to the techs and have them turn up his voice in the fucking monitors. No real fan is going to care if his voice is off. They won't put something so petty over his long-term health. His voice being off was even part of some legendary takes. I'm not sure why this wasn't done on the spot, but it's incredibly sad that it led to this fight.
I wouldn't want to see an interview with the wife or him
Google told you huh..... Yeah keep on that I guess I'll definitely steer clear from you
