What year is your Jeep Grand Cherokee? 2001 you said? I have a 2002 and they say NOT to use that cylinder pin. Plus it don't fit in my new shock. That is only if you have a TJ, YJ or a XJ per the instructions that came with mine.
My wj has a rough country 4 inch lift, i see 2 stabilizers, the one you talking about and another smaller one by the track bar or draglink i forgot by which one, but its has the shape of the stock one you just took off on this video, a bit smaller.
I purchased same thing 2 months ago got the same hardware as you did with the kit. Same issue not correct stuff. Had to go get longer bolt and spacer as well. Did the same thing as you. No issues so far.
Thank you. Thank you. My WJ has like yours 1 inch spacer. My replacement rancho stabilizer comes with 1/2 spacer. I wonder if thats enough or I should match it like you did. My guess is match it as these stabilizers are generic fits for other vehicles. How is the ride after this upgrade? Thx .
I did what I did because it wouldn’t fit with the given hardware. What I did held up, for as long as I owned the vehicle. (About 2 years, then sold it). It was much better after this, but I also replaced all the bushings front and back, and the shocks.
Why did you get the extended bolt? Does it work better when it's backed off the tierod like that? The factory stabilizer had the shock end touching the tie rod and using the same size bolt as the one you replaced.
@@CliffsHowTo what I'm saying is that the spacer wasn't there from the factory. They used the same size bolt that comes with the replacement stabilizers and the stabilizer bolts right o. To the tierod without that space.
@@BryantAvant then your Jeeps stabilizer had already been modified at some point because that black mounting stud with the press fit washer I guess you can call it is what you should see with a stock WJ that hasn’t been modified with new hardware…it’s a really goofy setup but that is how they come I always just replace it with a good quality bolt similar to most every other Jeep but our wj always has to be different 😂
Great video, you would think by now RC would have fixed their kits with proper fittings 😣I bought a full 3” kit for my WJ last year and since I have lots of free time now.. learning front shocks don’t come with the mounting bolts, and stabilizer same issue.. ugh.. WJ sits nice on 32’s though 😂 GREAT VIDEO POST!
I watched this video and didnt read instructions, got all twisted up. Then I read the directions included provided by Rough Country and it was simple. Went back to Ace and returned the hardware I didnt need.
I recently purchased a brand new one on ebay and it didn't come with a longer bolt or spacer. Having the same issue installing it on my 03 WJ as the OP...
I'm getting ready to install the same stabilizer on my 2000 WJ. I'm glad I watched your vid first. I got the size of the spacers written down, just not sure what size bolt to get. I think I heard you say a 10x1.5 120mm bolt. Is that the right size? I'll check to see if the provided hardware will work out beforehand of course. Thanks in advance.
@@CliffsHowTo I meant the end of the Stabilizer that goes into the bracket mounted on the axle. We're there any fitment issues getting the new one inside that bracket? The new Stabilizer looks considerably larger than OEM.
Yes, the end that fits to the frame. I am still having trouble getting it into the bracket on the frame of the jeep. I have tried to open it up using a bar etc, i guess my only option would now be to grind down a portion of the stabilizer itself to squeeze it in. It is not fitting by a fraction of a millimeter. Rough Country needs to re-evaluate their product as it should be an easy plug and play.
Installed the same damper without spacer, drove for couple of weeks then installed spacer. Drove and see no difference in performance.
Thanks for the video. I'm afraid I may have to do this same thing. Damn. Why can't they make a direct replacement. Ugh.

Yes 2001
Thank you for the tip about the spacer. I will do the same with the Moog. Great tip!
Thank you for the info. I went to ace today to get the same hardware. I got the bolt but they didn’t have the two metal spacer things only brass.
Really? That’s crazy! I wouldn’t use brass... too soft a metal.
Where did u buy the bolt more large?
Thanks for the video... Like you, I was trying to turn the welded nut... :) I'm off to Ace Hardware to buy the sleeves and a bolt.
What is that bar that the stabilizer attaches too?? I need to replace it because ends where studs attach to axles are blown. Tyvm
You can google it and find them labelled. I’m not sure off the top of my head.

Just purchase the steering stabilizer for my 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee wj and they now come with the Bolt and spacer
The correct one? Mine came with one, but didn’t fit.
I just purchased a brand new one off ebay the other week and installed it yesterday. It didn't come with any spacers or a longer bolt...

Does anyone know a brand where i wouldnt have to jerry-rig it like this?
What is that one called? Also i cant find it in any online front end diagram of a wj. You think it was added by the shop that did the lift?
Bought mine last week, wrong size sleeve and the bolt is rather short 😐
Damn all the extra you gotta do rough country really needs to do some damn research and add more to there kit lol thanks

I just did what I could to make it work, since it didn’t come with the correct hardware.
Tried to make it resemble what was there.

Does anyone make a decent WJ kit that fits properly without all the modifications?
JAY TV yes, OM.
@@sjkotey5265 Is OM a brand name?

So what was the bolt size
Any chance that spacing / angle would cause death wobble???
I didn’t have any issues with it. Had it like that for years.
Thank you... the video helped me a lot.....

I’ve heard that they finally started included the proper hardware. Mine didn’t come with the stuff to bolt onto my Jeep, even though it said it fit.

I don’t remember the size. Try your best to hear it in the video.
Did this set up work well for you?
I never had an issue with it
Did you have any issues getting the end of the new Stabilizer inside the bracket that is welded to the axle?
Not sure exactly what you mean, but the only part I had an issue with was where it bolted on. I showed how to fix that issue.
@@CliffsHowTo I meant the end of the Stabilizer that goes into the bracket mounted on the axle. We're there any fitment issues getting the new one inside that bracket? The new Stabilizer looks considerably larger than OEM.

That isn't a steering stabilizer. It is a steering damper. Similar function different part.
