@@jerryplantbasedmonster2129 Stick to whole plant foods like: grains, fruits, vegetables, legumes and fewest calories coming from nuts & seeds, but don't be afraid of some processed stuff here and there lol.
Roughly %70-%80 of calories from carbs and %10-%20 from protein and fats each, depending on how you feel. Avocado's are a great source of healthy fats!
Omega 3's and b12 are important so getting those daily will help you a lot in the long run! Iodine is important too, a great source being nori, a seaweed.

My wife and I have been Vegan for three years. We had both been vegetarians for more than 20 years (we had only been married for 5 years at that stage) and we thought that ditching meat was all we needed to do. Dairy was victimless so all was okay...
We actually watched the Game Changers Documentary and decided that it was time to go Vegan. Family members said we were being selfish and difficult but our ethics and compassion for life as a whole made us push back and say that we would go back no matter what the cost.
Like so many of the testimonials here, I also lost problematic weight (with very little effort), lost the brain fog, gained energy and now I can go so much further in both my workload and physical activity than I could before ditching the dairy. Now my family and some of our friends through seeing the change in our lives are entertaining the possibility of reducing animal products. It is all worth it.
My mantra now: Love God, be compassionate, serve the community, seek Truth, speak up for those without a voice and be willing to go against the flow by embracing life.
    Peace and props to all.

Humans can't digest plants properly, and that's why a lot of vegans feel bloated all day. Cows have rumens, where bacteria lives and converts cellulose to glucose. Then other bacteria ferments the glucose and converts it to fatty acids that get absorbed in the bloodstream. Humans have different digestive systems and cannot digest cellulose, which covers every plant cell. Certain enzymes can brake part of the cell so that some nutrients are absorbed, but they are not a lot. Also plants have antinutrients that literally bind to minerals etc. and prevent you from absorbing them. I suggest you to watch 'vegans the epitome of malnourishment' to see what happens to your body after a few years, I hope you change your mind before it's too late.

As a primary care physician, I have recommended a plant based diet to several patients. The patients who have tried it has had significant improvement in the control of diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol, acne etc and on several occasions were able come down on all or most of the medications for their chronic diseases but on several occasions they leave negative comments on the physician review sections complaining that I was trying to make them vegan. It’s very frustrating for me to decipher who would benefit from this message and who would rather make no changes in their diet and lifestyle and take a medication instead.

Now I have more information so I can’t wait to see the results of my next scan! I was fortunate to meet Dr. Dean Ornish and I got to attend one of his certification classes for health professionals. Afterwards I went plant based and for four months: NO CHEST PAINS! But then I went on my first cruise and fell off the wagon; eating lots of meat. Days later I ended up in the ER feeling like I was going to die. I was admitted to the hospital because they couldn’t get my BP down to a safe level.
When I was released, I went back to a plant based diet: no more chest pains. I’m glad I had that setback. It made things VERY clear: no more games!
Whenever I eat something I shouldn’t, my body tells me and I feel awful. I love being pain free; it motivates me to eat plant based as much as possible.

      Hi there,
I am sorry to hear that. I, personally, would recommend to opt for a well-planned, organic, unrefined and untempered with vegan diet (consuming raw plant foods where possible so as not to denature or destroy the life-forces and enzymatic activities beneficial to the human system. If disagreeing on this matter, please take some steamed carrots, plant them and see if they will grow; if not, it is because they are 'dead' plant food that cannot benefit one's 'living' cells) consisting of organic fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts, seeds and whole grains as it is the best diet to provide mankind with ultimate health and longevity. I do not even see a reason to use pharmaceutical supplements e.g Vitamin D is obtainable from organic chestnut mushrooms (UV exposed) and sun-dried mushrooms with the exception of the body's ability to make it (and store it for future use) when exposed to the sun; Iron from organic beets; Zinc from organic cashew nuts; potassium and magnesium from organic bananas; Omega 3 Fatty Acids (beneficial for the brain) from organic walnuts and pecans (looks like the brain and targets it).
Animal protein is the cause of nearly all diseases, from gathered information e.g mad cow disease and tuberculosis, that are on the rise; and fish like wild salmon and tuna ought to be avoided due to radiation in the seas (mercury affecting tuna too). Farmed fish too should be avoided as they may lack nutrients e.g farmed salmon may lack Omega 3 Fatty Acids obtained from algae by wild salmon in the seas.
Please avoid factory produced meat alternatives whose chief ingredient can be 'soy' and may contain preservatives as well as additives (e.g Vinegar, a corrosive agent). Food toxicity and nutrient deficiency are a deadly combination as one is hindering the body's building materials needed to action healing whilst at the same time taxing the system with more toxic stuff, thus bringing about disease and possibly even an early death.
      Best wishes
      💙💙💙

OM-- There is needless confusion about vegan vs. whole-food, plant-based diets. People need still to declare what "vegan" means, as they use the term, to assure they are correctly understood. Much good research about the whole-food, plant-based diet is ignored when people dismiss the data as only a pretext to a vegan ethical rant. The two issues of protecting sentient beings and the healthiest human diet are logically different, however much you believe the vegan ethic covers all issues.

Switching to a predominantly plant based diet has helped my life in more ways than I can communicate. It helped me to develop self discipline, over come addiction, reach and maintain a healthy body weight, increase strength, improve sleep, alleviate gastric symptoms, learn portion control, acquire and sustain higher levels of energy, facilitate colonic regularity and ease, lower my blood pressure, and lower my heart rate. I can say with confidence that it was the catalyst for finally observing a dedicated fitness routine as well as becoming mentally sound and stable. Hands down one of the best lifestyle changes I've ever made and I recommend it to everyone. I especially recommend it to people struggling to become a healthier and better version of themselves.
It's east at first but it quickly becomes easy. Once you're used to it, it's super easy to sustain too. It just takes some dedication and consistency.

I already feel so much better! Next step is to cut out dairy completely.. then eggs, then fish. The more research I do into veganism (both ethically and health wise) the more it makes sense to make the change!

I HIGHLY recommend reading The China Study, by Colin Campbell mentioned in this video. I think vegan is such a great start, but in the book they cite the difference between WFPB diet (whole food plant based) and vegan. Being vegan, you are free to eat white bread and cinnamon rolls and drink soda, etc. In addition to cutting out meat, it is really important to cut out processed foods. BOYYY is it hard! But so important. I love this video and will pass it around!

So is it, 'going vegan' or eating whole plant based foods that leads to the positive changes everyone appears to cite, after going vegan..... genuinely interested, as I'm transitioning to a vegan diet at the moment. To play devil's advocate, would eating whole plant foods alongside healthier meat options, lead to the same changes? I understand the ethical and moral reasons for going vegan, but I'm asking from an entirely biological/ physical health point of view..... what do people think is the biggest factor in eliciting the positive effects..... is it the abstinence of all animal products, or the commensurate increase in healthy foods such as more fruits and veg?

I thrived off a vegan diet. I have skin discoloration and got tired of doctors, tests, and blood work not knowing what it is (closest for visualization purposes think vitiligo). Nobody knew what it could be so I started to teach myself nutrition, watched documentaries, a more holistic approach. When I tell you the HUGE difference there was in such a short time within my skin. I told my dermatologist at the time. He was so serious when I told him I changed my diet and used natural oils after showering. He ignored me and said to keep using the topical solutions he gave me. My discoloration improved drastically during the time I was vegan and the overall changes to my life compared to the 2-3 years I was using the medicine (super slow). I started accepting my skin and decided to continue with my own approach. Stopped going to the dermatologist. Eventually stopped being vegan after only 1.5 years because I gave up... I want to go back though. I was happier and healthier for it. I’m educating myself again, watching videos to encourage me to go back. Being vegan worked for me. I just need to get back to that mentally for my own good again.

      Hi there,
I, personally, would recommend to opt for a well-planned, organic, unrefined and untempered with vegan diet (consuming raw plant foods where possible so as not to denature or destroy the life-forces and enzymatic activities beneficial to the human system. I do not even see a reason to use pharmaceutical supplements e.g Vitamin D is obtainable from organic chestnut mushrooms (UV exposed) and sun-dried mushrooms with the exception of the body's ability to make it (and store it for future use) when exposed to the sun; Iron from organic beets; Zinc from organic cashew nuts; potassium and magnesium from organic bananas; Protein and Omega 3 Fatty Acids (beneficial for the brain) from organic walnuts and pecans (looks like the brain and targets it).
Food toxicity and nutrient deficiency (e.g white bread, white rice and white sugar) are a deadly combination as one is hindering the body's building materials needed to action healing whilst at the same time taxing the system with more toxic stuff, thus bringing about disease and possibly even an early death.
      Best wishes
      💙💙💙

I think I’ve just made that decision today. I’ve cut out a lot of foods expect meat and I think last night it hit me...to go vegan.

I too have been on a low meat diet for several months (eating meat on the weekends). After introducing myself to more alternatives, I think I can start to take the next step. It's a slow process, but its much easier that way.

I have been vegan for 3 years now and I am never going back!! I am now aligning my morals with my actions and not supporting the cruel meat and dairy industries. I used to suffer from horrible cystic acne for years. I had tried everything and nothing worked. When I went vegan my acne went away!! I do get breakouts every now and then from stress, but it is nothing like before! Also, I used to suffer from painful menstrual cramps and now I even forget that I am on my period because I feel no pain! It is amazing! I donate blood every now and then and my vitamin levels are great, so there is no need for animal products to be on your plate! :)))

Man you can't get over 15 nutrients with a plant based diet. All vegans quit sooner or later. If you ate only vegetables since birth you would die within weeks.

I was on plant based diet when i was pregnant. That was the healthiest time of my life. No digestive issues, no vomiting, full of energy and slept like a baby. Not to mention I got healthy and strong baby. But after giving birth i was back to my old eating habit. Not plant based. And now i have gerd and lpr. I think i need to be once again go to plant based diet once and for all.

yesterday made 7 weeks plant-based! I thought it would be nearly impossible but when I started I just began to enjoy life even more! It wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be..... I no longer feel the exhaustion i felt before that would allow me to sleep some nights from 7pm to 7am, I can stay up later, be more productive as well. I am believing for healing with hormonal issues and also believing for healing with my eyes. I am praying also because i know Jesus is my healer - and also that God created plants for us to get the nutrients we need as well so the body can heal itself!
