Cartier not being listed here is a big miss. Worn by countless executives and celebrities, even Gordon Gekko in Wall Street. I prefer the Cartier Tank, easily one of the most elegant watches ever made!
Alux is missing a few but first get rid of Hublot. Longines, Cartier, Omega, Breitling, Blancpain, Jaeger-LeCoultre deserve to be on that list way more then Hublot.
Would add Tag Heuer alongside Tudor and H. Moser&Cie. to more high level ones. Omega, JLC, Panerai and Breitling could have also made the list with Roger Dubuis as out of list honorable mention but I get that there is just as much as you can fit on these lists
A few big misses here. Mentioning brand ambassadors as wearers by choice is a bit of a stretch. What happened to JLC, Breguet, Lange, Blancpain, Longines, Cartier, Journe, De Bethune, Chopard LUC, Zenith, UN but Hublot made the list? For that matter I put Nomos on the list above it. Disappointing
I have a few issues with this video. 1) Where are Omega, Breguet, Jaeger Le-Coultre, Zenith, Urwerk, Richard Mille? All of those brands are highly prestigious and the fact that they weren’t mentioned in a video about watches as status symbols is baffling. 2) Vacheron, AP, and Patek could have been put into one category, seeing as how they all occupy the holy trinity in traditional watchmaking. Obviously it’s important to note the distinguishing characteristics between each brand and their most famous models, but to tier them sequentially is misleading. None of the three are objectively better than the other. IMO they’re all equally prestigious. 3) Why did you show a Breguet when you were talking about Hublot? 4) You mention Grand Seiko but didn’t even show any pictures of actual Grand Seikos. Instead you flipped through pics of more regular Seikos. Alux, I love your channel and I’ve been a fan of your content for years, but I gotta say this video doesn’t feel like your best work. Speaking as a watch enthusiast, I think a little more effort and research could have went into helping this video reach its true potential.
Seiko and Grand Seiko are different brands… They are conflated in the video. It’s like saying Tudor and Rolex are the same. Also left out Lange & Söhne and Richard Mille but maybe that’s too niche?
JLC, Lange, FP Journe out of the list, Seiko and GS classified as the same watch and Hublot making the list... really, Alux didn't make a proper research. Maybe they should watch some Tim Mosso videos. Lol.
My 2 cents. Hublot could be skipped 😂 but Omega, JLC, needed mention. Im truly disappointed Lange wasnt included and not covered in detail. The commentry on VC was also lacking. While Patek was marketed as a "million" dollar watch, VC was made to sound like it caps at the hundreds of thousands. In reality VC probably makes way more expensive watches for the ultra rich and doesnt even disclose their prices or customers which does surpass the millions. Thats what i love about the swiss in general. Their watches, and their privacy laws. Last, disappointed Lange wasnt included, i dont own a Lange but i would probably get one before i get a Patek.
I just loved Grand Seiko so much. Their watch faces always have a texture either inspired from the nature or the scenery around the factory itself. Handmade and always reliable just like their regular Seikos. (Too bad Alux didn't differentiate "Seiko" from "Grand Seiko" it's like Toyota and Lexus. Grand Seikos are much more meticulously assembled and produced in a different factory)
@@justinleomartin The Hublot part made me laugh and I can’t argue with that. I don’t dislike J&Co. they’re just not iconic. They’re too new but they have a few pieces I’d like. Id buy an Astronomia clock but wouldn’t wear one on my wrist because they’re enormous.
OMEGA Cartier and Brietling were are they in this poor list. My wealthy friend has an OMEGA tourbillon and i have OMEGA all gold planet ocean blue ceramics.
The only thing a Hublot tells about you is that you have more money than taste. Grand Seiko and Seiko shouldn’t even be mentioned in the same sentence; the former is an equivalent of Lange & Söhne or other brands for people with a refined taste and passion for watches who don’t care whether someone recognises their $15,000 timepiece, while the latter is a watch you can buy in every shopping mall and is comparable to Casio or Swatch. And yes, Tag Heuer could have been mentioned as what I’d see as a kind of entry level luxury watch (if that makes sense) - something that’s more likely than not a mechanical watch made in Switzerland that keeps its value yet you don’t have to spend a year on a waiting list before you buy one.
As for Rolex, especially the Submariner unfortunately becomes a watch of all kinds of influencers and celebrities who want to be seen wearing a luxury watch without knowing anything about watches so they buy the first one they can think of.
Those are Omega tier watches pretending to be A Lange et Sohne level. Their finishing, similar to Omega, is only on parts that are visible through the display caseback. Real high end watches are hand finished completely, even on the main plate and below the gear train.
Hublot is trash. If you don’t have class, wear this copycat-Mille or AP-wannabe. Alux, if you really know anything about watches, you should have mentioned JLC instead.
You know what's even better than collecting watches as you get richer? Not feeling the need to upgrade your lifestyle and impressing others with material possessions, freeing up much of one's own resources to bless others.
It takes a lot of thought to put together a short list like this. I think it’s appropriate omega and Cartier were not included, as well as JLC and A Lange.
Info is wrong, Order is wrong, missed significant watches like Lange and the important independents. Of those you mentioned, the final order would be VC, Rolex, AP, Patek. Her voice is off relative to models discussed. This is the worst video Alux has put together.
If you're military you might have swapped out your Gshock for your Garmin for the utility but paradoxically collectors covet the issued watch you stole.
Rolex is like the Timex of Luxury watches. Daily driver. If you collect there are many brands beside the ones mentioned here out there that are high quality and collectible. Nice subset presented here😊
VC Overseas 4500v is an extraordinary watch, way underrated when compared to AP 15510. In the world of Rolex and Ap, most of the time when I wear my 4500v, nobody recognize what it is and that’s a good thing. Some even keep staring at it and trying to figure out what kind of watch im wearing😂.
Sorry, but your timepiece is NOT a tell all. I know a number of rich folks who don't even wear them. Cell phones tell the time just as well. Wristwatches are going the way of high button shoes and buggy whips.
I know wealthy people as well....and they wear VERY expensive watches. They don't wear them around YOU because they don't consider you their peer. FBA/B1
This list is highly debatable- Cartier is Top 2 in the world but why is it not mentioned? Casio should not have been here since it contradicts with the title of this video. So thumbs down Alux!

JLC and Omega deserved a mention over Hublot
Hublot needs to be there but Omega needed to be on this list for sure..just below Rolex.
@@manoftomorrow5987 Nico I would like a word with you lol. #pride&pinion
Disagree and I hate hublot..... if you would have mentioned Cartier you had a point
@@everythingautomotiveeta5839what’s wrong with Hublot. I’m just curious.
This is a list made for watch snobs, which only are interested what status a watch will project over them if they own it.

Agree
Back in the day.
I love Cartier, but it is a fashion brand. Maybe that’s why it didn’t make this admittedly abbreviated list.
The omission of Omega from this list is unforgivable
No one really purchased Omega because of the price range. There are better options. Let's be honest. Great watch but most go with Tudor over Omega.
Understand that there are so many brands to talk about. I would say not including A.Lange & Sohne is an omission
she missed Omega and Breitling
And the zodiac.
But remembered apple watch 😂
“Hublot watches are nothing short of eye catching.”
That’s a nice way of saying they’re ugly monstrosities that scream “look at me!”
No Cartier. No Jaeger-LeCoultre.

Not acceptable if you omit omega

Modern Tags are garbage.
Oh yeah. You mentioned some good ones that should have been on the list.
Guess Alux is getting desperate for content. Up next - coffee mugs of the rich and famous. 🙄
FYI Seiko and Grand Seiko are two different companies. Look into the amazing history of the GS. You'll be glad you did.
Vacheron Constantin would be my pick for a daily watch. It's always nice to look at haha.
Apple watch is not a watch. Its a computer. Real lovers of horology would agree.
How did Richard mille miss out of this??🤔😒
😂 bc they’re overrated and extravagant 😂
