VC is an absolute dream! They have several watches which are simply magnificent. I also love that it's a bit in the shadow and not in the spotlight with PP and AP.
Its not independent, it's not a coincidence that AP, PP and Rolex reaching apex status together, they are all independent, well, at least for investment, it's better to be with independent than in the Wall Streets.
Watches are a personal choice. At those prices there is no such thing as value. These watches are bought by people whose purchase of a mid five figure watch is the equivalent of me and you buying a swatch. No movement or build quality from any of the major high end players (at $30k+) will ever represent the price you are paying for that watch imo, so it is all about the look and that is in the eye of the beholder. So if you like the look of Hublot, and price is not a thing for you, go ahead and buy it! It's not for me, but I don't sh!t on people who love it.
Except all the major players like Rolex, AP, PP, etc all gain value after some time. Many even double or triple their value if held long enough, no hublot can stay the same.
Hey Teddy just wanted to say thank you! You helped make my Christmas this year. I’ve watched you since you first started making content and followed your growth and am very happy to see how for you’ve come. The majority of my watches I’ve bought grey market strictly for cost but I really wanted to show my support more than just watching so I ordered a Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 with the cream dial and rose gold tone bezel from Your website and I couldn’t be happier with the total experience! Great service, fast shipping and the watch is fantastic! Thank you for all you do and good luck going into 2022.
I live in the US, in Silicon Valley. My experience with Hublot is more about the guys that wear them. Every time I’ve bumped into a guy with a Hublot he was a “try hard” guy. Usually guys with huge trust funds who know nothing about watches and really focused on being impressive. Remember Ellis from Die Hard? Usually it’s that guy wearing a Hublot. That said, Hublot does make some very beautiful, very complicated and highly engineered pieces.
@@user-eb7ns2or1j everyone copied Louis Breguet and put tourbillon in their watches. Literally everyone has a watch with a tourbillon now let's hate all those brands too. Don't be that guy.

For me the issue with Hublot is partially design, but mostly value for the money. Everything I've seen or read is that they are roughly equivalent in fit and finish to watches in that 5 to 8k range, but they're priced with watches along the lines of AP, Patek, A Lange, etc. IMO they're not "worth" what they're asking, and i think the aftermarket prices show that. That being said i do agree the style aspect is a big part of it for most people. I just try not to focus on that because style is really a matter of personal expression and its not my place to judge people for that.
@@ashishpatel350 Instead of value for money, it's really comparative value. A Grand Seiko with its technology, accuracy and quality finishing costs $5-6,000. A Hublot with an ETA movement, while nothing wrong with that, costs $10 - 12,000 or twice the GS.

It is very interesting when you are comparing VC and AP, they are brands that need to move onto the direction of their past status. For example, AP has RO and ROO that are too iconic as the brand solely relies on those strong product lines, and this becomes the problem for AP so they to create Code 11.59 trying to strengthen and balance their product categories. VC instead, having very balance product lines and categories with competitive build quality, but they are lacking one product line that really stands out. They both are having what each other needs, and they are moving in opposite direction in terms of product category and strategy.
I agree with what you've said, I feel the Overseas line for VC can be their Royal Oak or Nautilus. The Overseas already has the foundation and can check off every box from the Steel versions (which also come with the quick change pins rubber and leather straps) so you can dress it up or down in a few seconds by changing the strap / bracelet. The solid gold Overseas to me is nicer than the RO or Nautilus of the other brands then they have the Gold Overseas Tourbillon, complications..etc They just need the right campaign to really spotlight and push the Overseas and I can see it having as much or more success than the APs and PPs. I'm sure a successful campaign will have to come from having a few Athletes or Entertainers on board (I wish it wouldn't take that) but it seems to be the way things are now

You're correct now, but even in the watch community VC was only very occasionally talked before 2016, when two things happened almost simultaneously. First, the price (and demand) of the Patek Nautilus suddenly started going through the roof (a trend that was quickly copied by the AP Royal Oak). Secondly, VC introduced the third generation Overseas, which was a noticable improvement to the previous model, to the point that watch reviewers finally considered it a worthy (perhaps even superior) alternative to the suddenly impossible to get Nautilus and RO, which also happened to be much more readily available. This resulted in people that were researching the Nautilus being introduced to the Overseas, causing the likes of Hodinkee and Fratello to start writing about VC more, so people read about VC because Hodinkee is writing about them, etc, etc, it's a vicious cycle. Next thing you know, people are finally taking about VC for something other than if they still deserve their place in the Holy Trinity. In a move that I'd ironically consider the opposite to what happened to AP (who are now, sadly, the Royal Oak brand), the sudden increased interest in VC's steel sports watches increased awareness of the whole brand, and now we're seeing VC's dresser pieces being talked about much more than they would have previously.

I have spent hours going through your Education playlist and I have picked up so much new information, (for me). I am looking forward to keeping up with your content and curious to see what new and interesting directions you choose.
Classic fusion looks really good, especially in blue. But the finishing is awful and it’s way to much for not an in house movement. I would say classic fusion would be a must buy value watch at 3-5k. Not 5k plus.
Congrats Teddy and Team. Stellar delivery, stellar information, constantly getting better at your craft, you deserve all the success that follows. Keep it up, sir.
Hope you’ve had a great Christmas and wishing you every happiness for a successful, healthy and rewarding 2022! Been really getting into your videos this year, always a pleasure to hear your take, great topics with a very balanced and erudite narrative. Happy Christmas to you and your team, here’s to a great 2022!
I have been watching your review for some time and thoroughly enjoy them all. I have to say this is one of my favourites. Keep up the great work and thanks for your insights into the watch world!
Great video. I am ooh soo tired of Nautilus and Royal Oak pictures and videos. The V.C. Overseas in white metal with their deep blue is refreshing. Screw that Tiffany baby blue or the $8K green rubber strap. How many decades can AP milk that same old hex bezel. Makes me want to gouge my eyes out. Rolex is really exclusive at a million made every year. $14K to get a Submariner right now. A.Lange makes 5K pcs per year and start at $17K. Now who's exclusive? It's sad that Breguet, Zenith and G.P lose. 1/2 their value after opening the box.
I prefer your video to that Nico's. Every watch has its own light point. Rolex shouldn't be the only watch to be respected by people. Just bought a Seamaster 300!
Thanks to you and your team for another great year of content! You all have brought me hours and hours of enjoyment. I really hope you all have an awesome holiday season and a wonderful New Year.
Some good advice Teddy on gifting a watch. It is such a personal gift that my advise is, don't do it haphazardly. And BTW, buying a watch for a watch enthusiast is even more fraught as we WIS have very specific ideas of what we want.
Thanks for the video Teddy. You're doiing an amazing job for us watch enthousiastics. Wish you all the best for 2022 and Stay safe. Greetz from The Netherlands, Hans Peter
why is there hate on hubot and its pricing when the watch world now tolerates over hyped brands to be sold at incomprehensible prices. The thing with hublot is the hype is not on the watch, but on hating the watch.
Great Q&A Teddy, one of the best. It's been great being a subscriber to the channel over the last few years and is incredible how things have changed for the better during that time. Us watch nerds may not agree on everything but like you I always respect other peoples opinions. Keep producing content for 2022 and beyond Teddy and have a terrific new year. Best wishes.

No sells nomos like you Teddy. But agreed for their price ,if the finishing of movement is important to you plus overall design and quality. Hard to beat a Nomos
Teddy when the guy said mere mortals he meant under £1000 for argument sake. For me this would entail a company like Duckworth and the Prestex range. Lovely dials, good movement and a good history.
Generally love the videos, but this one was especially fun. Hope you guys have a great 2022. I'm trying to figure out what I'm getting in 2022 and these videos create a lot to think about.
Anyone who doesn't like Hublot because of their designs, should have a look at Jacob & Co or Richard Mille first. Like you said, the Classic Fusion is a lovely watch. So Teddy, in brief, the the second biggest factor that determines the price of a watch can only be seen under a microscope.
Regarding VC - the Overseas is pretty much just as unobtainable as anything steel from AP or Patek, so I don't think they have to worry too much about brand profile. Though, perhaps because of that, they are promoting their other lines heavily in the press (e.g. Financial Times) here in Europe.
For me the off-putting factor is the watchmaking- don't most of the lower models use ETA movements for about $5k and even the mod tier options just have modified ETAs? Then there's the finishing... Think the brand does have potential to be a super clean modern take on watchmaking, after a bit of a rethink!
very interesting about the plans and costs for a video - I'd enjoy seeing a 'A day in the life of TB' or how we made that video we released last month from a watch store in Canada (say).. Thank you for the content and insight. My head got the better of my heart today. My vintage gold longines is 1.5 mm thicker than the ultra thin vintage gold manual wind VC and is the same diameter!! Saved a packet ....maybe
Buying luxury watches is an emotional decision. What's the difference between getting an entry-level Big Bang for $12.4k or a Patek Nautilus for $300k? None, it's still an irrational decision. People want to live experiences, and suddenly, having a Hublot gold watch covered in diamonds is their irrational desire. What's the issue? The ETA movement? Screws not perfectly aligned? No one deserves judgment, unless you're a watch dealer or a freaky collector that spends hours admiring your watch pieces, feel free to make whatever decision you want with your money. Want to be rational? Use that money for your kids' education and check the time on a reliable $10 Casio. Thanks Teddy, your channel is by far the BEST one!!
If I were to take the helm of any brand I would take Seiko and fix a few things: 1. Quality control. Enough said. 2. Make the lower end items more competitive. I understand that since Orient is part of the Seiko-Epson group the lower end market is meant for Orient, but with the brand recognition and resources Seiko has they should be able to put up a good fight in $300-$500 range especially against the rise of so many microbrands nowadays. Most people nowadays are buying smartwatches and fitness trackers anyway so I'd rather push Seiko back towards its fanbase and the enthusiast community. 3. Utilize the social media more. I realize that Grand Seiko has been doing this more recently but Seiko is still quite "traditional" in their marketing. Once part 1 and part 2 is fixed, online marketing and hype should be easier to generate. But hey, I'm just an enthusiast here with no corporate experience in the watch industry so I may be completely off the mark here.
i really like the question about gifting watches. I asked my girlfriend if she would like a watch for a gift for the holidays and she said "i barely wear my apple watch as it is" so i completely concur that it's a question worth asking if considering a watch as a gift. It would have ended up being something that i cared a lot about while she would have never felt the reason to wear

Discussing the sheer amount of time that goes in to your productions... Wow!! I had no concept of the leg work and commitment that goes in to making such a fine finished product. Great work! I have spent hours going through your Education playlist and I have picked up so much new information, (for me). I am looking forward to keeping up with your content and curious to see what new and interesting directions you choose.
I am also into fragrances. That and watches are my two collections. Would love to see Teddy's fragrance collection.
Thank you for all your fantastic work this year both on RUclips and at your store.
A continuing “thank you” for all your efforts, Teddy. Here’s to a great 2022!
Could not agree more on the Nomos! As an owner, their balanced design and finish still 'get' me, even after owning it for years.
Hot take: Overseas is FAR more versatile watch than the Nautilus/Royal Oak
Warm tip: you are right.
I REALLY like the lighting and colors of this video.
As always, thoroughly enjoying all your content, which just goes from strength to strength in terms of its professional presentation, but what keeps me coming back as a subscriber is your knowledge, your generous balanced and informative approach that has been a big part of my own watch collecting journey. Very best wishes, Rob
Great video. I bought a Zelos from you a couple months ago. Great product and good job building your business empire!
Vacheron is the father in the holy trinity spot.. they are the best, and thankfully least hyped.. Geneva Seal and 268 years of history.. nuff said.
Been really getting into your videos this year, always a pleasure to hear your take, great topics with a very balanced and erudite narrative. Happy Christmas to you and your team, here’s to a great 2022!
Merry Christmas!! The VC reference 4010T/000G-B740 is my grail watch. I also love the overseas model's too.
I have been watching your review for some time and thoroughly enjoy them all. I have to say this is one of my favourites. Keep up the great work and thanks for your insights into the watch world!
It is great to see such a successful person at that age! Congratulations on your hard earned success Teddy!!
Happy New Year ⌚
I would love to hear your thoughts on a few Frederique Constant pieces. If you may find the time to do so.
Watch finder brought me here n I'm not disappointed..good additional info 👍
Protect Teddy at all costs!!
why is there hate on hubot and its pricing when the watch world now tolerates over hyped brands to be sold at incomprehensible prices.
My man loves the milk chocolate turtle neck! You rock it bro
Something that's funny but I'm I'm pretty happy about it is that I got a a new appreciation for Mr wonderful. Because of Teddy. I think you guys make a great team when it comes to watches
Very fascinating. Nice getting to know you. Very fun video!
Thanks to you I now get what an “Influencer” is. Been trying to figure that out for years. Love your video and your interpersonal style! Best wishes to you and yours!
These question and answer videos are great.
Great knowledge everytime. One thing. What brand is that raw denim selvedge jacket. The color is amazing.
taylor stitch
God Bless, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Prediction for next year; Teddy goes crazy with set decoration and buys a poinsettia for the corner of his desk 🎄
I was interested at the end there (should I say "more" interested!), where every video costs 4 figures. It shows though, the content, the editing, the photography is absolute Broadcast quality, and I switch off my TV to watch this great content.
No sells nomos like you Teddy. But agreed for their price ,if the finishing of movement is important to you plus overall design and quality. Hard to beat a Nomos
Wow Teddy: You hit this right out of ballpark. Simply Superb
I love Floris too! I wear Honey Oud or Santal. Merry Christmas.
Funny enough, I was just researching hublot value a few hours ago ! Good video as always !
Congratulations on the growth of your business Teddy.👍
Anyone who doesn't like Hublot because of their designs, should have a look at Jacob & Co or Richard Mille first. Like you said, the Classic Fusion is a lovely watch. So Teddy, in brief, the the second biggest factor that determines the price of a watch can only be seen under a microscope.
Regarding VC - the Overseas is pretty much just as unobtainable as anything steel from AP or Patek, so I don't think they have to worry too much about brand profile. Though, perhaps because of that, they are promoting their other lines heavily in the press (e.g. Financial Times) here in Europe.
happy customer here!! can't wait to see what i can buy from you in 2022!
For me the off-putting factor is the watchmaking- don't most of the lower models use ETA movements for about $5k and even the mod tier options just have modified ETAs? Then there's the finishing... Think the brand does have potential to be a super clean modern take on watchmaking, after a bit of a rethink!
Thanks Teddy. Merry Christmas to you and yours.
very interesting about the plans and costs for a video - I'd enjoy seeing a 'A day in the life of TB' or how we made that video we released last month from a watch store in Canada (say).. Thank you for the content and insight. My head got the better of my heart today. My vintage gold longines is 1.5 mm thicker than the ultra thin vintage gold manual wind VC and is the same diameter!! Saved a packet ....maybe
My question never got answered.. :( What are some good books on horology for beginners? I want to learn a be knowledgeable on the subject. Thank you!!
Whoa whoa whoa Teddy, 1970 called here?
Hublot : here is our caged Tourbillon.....
People : hey... is that new green dial rolex awsome or what?
Hublot : am i a joke to you?
Hi Teddy looking forward to you reviewing German made watches like Nomos, Glashutte Original, Stowa, Schaumburg...
If I were to take the helm of any brand I would take Seiko and fix a few things:
I bought the Santos de Cartier in a two-tone medium model this year & love it!!
Merry Christmas Teddy to you, your family and your employees. I thoroughly enjoyed this video.
i really like the question about gifting watches. I asked my girlfriend if she would like a watch for a gift for the holidays and she said "i barely wear my apple watch as it is" so i completely concur that it's a question worth asking if considering a watch as a gift. It would have ended up being something that i cared a lot about while she would have never felt the reason to wear
